Nexium gi bleed

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium gi bleed

nexium

Avatar n tn Then we went to another GI specialist and he stopped my Nexium and then I had GI bleeding again. It is very rare to have a recurrent bleeding episode without any apparent cause except excessive acid. Do you have any explanation and remedy for this condition?
Avatar n tn Diagnosed with acid reflux 7 years ago, negative for Barretts Been on nexium 40 mg. daily for last seven years. One week ago I had pain between shoulder blades and went to Dr. He said I had a slight case of pleurish and put me on super charged anti inflammatory (can't remember the name. I took 800mg of anti inflammatory on empty stomach. That night I was very sick, nausea, vomited once. 24 hours later I was better, however, noticed black tarry stool. I went to the Dr. ran blood tests.
Avatar m tn I know that there are some Doctors that prescribe Nexium (or other ppi) for those that are taking NSAIDS regularly and are having stomach discomfort. My question is two-part. What problem is the NSAID creating, and what is it that the Nexium is doing to counteract it? Thank-you, Patrick R.
Avatar f tn He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.
Avatar f tn The best medicine I have tried for gastroparesis is Domperidone. The FDA doesn't approve of it. Many/most GI doctors do. Try to get a prescription from a GI doctor and you can then purchase the product in Canada. You cant get it at some compounding pharmacies in some states in the US, but the prices are 3 times the Canadian prices. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I went to a GI and she prescribed me with nexium in the morning (I usually take nexium everytime my gerd acts up) and zantac in the evening before bedtime. The next day, we went to my pulmonologist for my routine checkup, since I had primary spontaneous pneumothorax last november.
Avatar f tn I am just a patient that has been though lots of GI problems so I know a lot about GI problems.
Avatar n tn - No sensitivity to touch chest. GI Cocktail inneffective - pain meds at ER and hydrocodone worked well. Took Ramididine. - After two weeks chest pain subsided. - Then my stomache got so bad I couldn't eat for a few days - spasms just above my navel and below my ribs and a general pain just above belly button. - My stomach felt better on Previcid for a few days but now my chest pain is back for the last two days. - Taking Previcid and being treated symptomatically because pregnancy.
Avatar n tn The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
Avatar f tn I have a 16 year old daughter that has had severe upper gi pain. We have taken her to drs. they have done ultra sound, xray, blood work, hida scan they even put her on Nexium and the dr cant seem to find out what is wrong. The pain seems to get worse right after she eats. She vomits, she is in scrutiating pain which can last for hours. It doesn't matter what she eats or drinks the pain is always there. They have put her on phenegran and darvecit and the pain still is there.
Avatar m tn together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.
1213000 tn?1280463161 s the fact that I am on Plasurgrel, which I guess is more efficient at thinning the blood than Plavix and, while a remote possibility, a GI bleed would potentially be catastrophic.
Avatar f tn Thanks - I've not seen a GI in several years, since I started taking the nexium, which seemed to help the reflux I was having then. I'm wondering if it's time for a change in meds - thanks for your input and I will see about getting a referral to a GI and get checked out again.
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
Avatar f tn I was treated for 1 month with Losec 20mg with no real improvement. I was switched to Nexium 40mg for another month in case the gastritis was severe or if I had developed an ulcer. At this time, I had blood work for Celiac Disease and bloodwork for H.Pylori, both have now come back negative. My Dr still believes it is Gastritis related to Naproxen, she does not believe this is serious and at this point is not concerned.
Avatar f tn My husband has been having the same symptoms and they did the gastroparesis test and it came back normal, yet he is still throwing up daily. The doctors have done an upper gi, lower gi, cat scan, X-ray, scope and biopsy, ultrasound, and hida scan, yet they came back with nothing.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD since about 2009, I was treating it with Prilosec, over the years I have had my dosage increased, increased again, then told to start taking it twice a day, now they have switched me to Nexium. In 2013 I had trouble swallowing food-bread was the worst. I had an endoscopy and they found chronic gastritis, abnormal mucosa and esophaegeal stricture, which they dilated, 6 months later I had to have it dilated again.
Avatar n tn 4, my ferritin is 5, hemocrit is 33, I have a headache everyday, and am really tired, I also have pains in my chest that come and go, I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with heartburn, so I have been taking nexium everyday, but I also have arthritis and was taking Celebrex. Since the blood work and the results the doctor told me to stop taking the Celebrex and just to take Tylenol instead. The doctor now wants me to have an upper GI evaluation. What could possibly be wrong?
Avatar f tn I have had this since the beginning of tx, but is is extremely painful and worse now. My doc has prescribed Levsin and Nexium. Nexium makes my joints hurt, so I stopped taking it. Does anyone know of anything I can do or take to make me able to exist w/out pain and GI inflamation? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn t taken Nexium and the last week started taking Metamucil. I am now worse than when I was taking Nexium. I am extremely tired and don't know what else to do. I have maybe 1 night each week where I sleep until 6am, but that is nowhere near my normal of 8 or 9am. I have been under a lot of stress at work since March and I know that can flare up symptoms of bowel disease, but at this point I think I need to see a Gastroenterologist due to my PCP not really taking this seriously.
Avatar f tn I suffered from heartburn for over a year and was put on Nexium by my doctor, these worked great and I was symptom free. I decided to go off the medication after about 6 months and the heartburn came back so I was sent for a scope. The scope came back clear, no damage to esophagus or no signs of barretts. The recommendation from the gastroenterologist was to go back on nexium for 3 months and them use as needed.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized for a GI bleed from a gastric ulcer which caused acute blood anemia about 4 weeks ago. After I was discharged I started to feel better and get my energy back after 2 weeks. (I received 2 units of blood in the hospital). But, in the past week I have increasing started to get fatigued and only able to do limited min. activities. I also get easily short of breath when I exert too much.
Avatar f tn I am having a liver biopsy next week and I'm really worried about what they'll find. My ANA was 1:1280 with a centromere pattern. I don't have any CREST symptoms, but I do have many of the symptoms for Autoimmune Hepatitus, which is what the doctor suspects. Anyway, I am Bipolar and I have read that Cortisone can cause major problems for people who are prone to Psychotic Episodes.
Avatar m tn can GERD really cause asthma and central apneas? is 80mg nexium too much per day or 40mg is better?
Avatar m tn Ask your Cardio or GI doc. They should be able to give you the infor you need. I am taking plavix and was on nexium. Had to go off it because of the FDA findings. Am now on pepcid You can also look on the FDA website for more info on that. Good luck.
