Nexium and gi bleed

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and gi bleed

nexium

Avatar n tn Then we went to another GI specialist and he stopped my Nexium and then I had GI bleeding again. It is very rare to have a recurrent bleeding episode without any apparent cause except excessive acid. Do you have any explanation and remedy for this condition?
Avatar f tn ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
Avatar n tn Diagnosed with acid reflux 7 years ago, negative for Barretts Been on nexium 40 mg. daily for last seven years. One week ago I had pain between shoulder blades and went to Dr. He said I had a slight case of pleurish and put me on super charged anti inflammatory (can't remember the name. I took 800mg of anti inflammatory on empty stomach. That night I was very sick, nausea, vomited once. 24 hours later I was better, however, noticed black tarry stool. I went to the Dr. ran blood tests.
Avatar m tn together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.
Avatar f tn t suffered GERD and LPR (suffered both severely for 5 years) since stopping ALL acid blockers and antacids and taking digestive enzyme supplements (to help digest foods) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (to increase stomach acid). GERD and LPR were gone in a few weeks! Also, my mother's gastritis is 95% improved with these supplements (suffered gastritis for 25 years!) Improved over a year so far.
Avatar f tn Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.
Avatar m tn ooo I know a girl (rachel) that might have the same problems you're having.. upper abdominal pain/upper back pain..nausea.. probably an ulcer, caused by h.ploryi. It's confirmed usually by a test or there's a not so accurate breath test. Usually treated with triple therapy antibiotics. Even though you're taking nexium, h. ploryi still can live and prosper in a stomach..so you probably need that blood test asap. Your primary doctor can order the test for you.
Avatar m tn Ask your Cardio or GI doc. They should be able to give you the infor you need. I am taking plavix and was on nexium. Had to go off it because of the FDA findings. Am now on pepcid You can also look on the FDA website for more info on that. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My husband (26) started feeling full a couple bites into his meals recently and then becoming nauseas, dizzy and finally began vomiting with abdominal pain. Every morning when he wakes up he's instantly running due to vomit or nausea, he feels weak and hasn't really been able to hold much food. Mainly liquids and bland foods when they stay down, he's been sleeping a lot more and when he's awake he's tired alot.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have acid reflux that comes back from time to time if I am not careful with my lifestyle (eating habits, diet, etc) Recently, my gerd started acting up again but this time I didn't have abdominal pains, only heartburn and nausea that's really bothering me. I went to a GI and she prescribed me with nexium in the morning (I usually take nexium everytime my gerd acts up) and zantac in the evening before bedtime.
Avatar f tn I have chronic colitis and gastritis and I just recently found out that I may have acid reflux as well. I had my gallbladder removed a month ago and instead of the pain getting better it has gotten worse. I have stopped eating completely because no matter what I eat it upsets my stomach. I have had one pain free day in almost three years and at this point I am exhausted. What should I do?
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.
Avatar f tn Mental stress and physical exertion can cause angina (chest pain) due to the heart not receiving enough blood/oxygen. Your doctor should have given you a free sample of a nitrate. If there is immediate relief from the discomfort, it could indicate occluded vessels. A nitrate pill diltates coronary vessels. An EKG is not very reliable for ischemia dx. A stress test is a better test for possible occlusions.
Avatar n tn The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
Avatar f tn We have taken her to drs. they have done ultra sound, xray, blood work, hida scan they even put her on Nexium and the dr cant seem to find out what is wrong. The pain seems to get worse right after she eats. She vomits, she is in scrutiating pain which can last for hours. It doesn't matter what she eats or drinks the pain is always there. They have put her on phenegran and darvecit and the pain still is there. Could someone please give me the answers to what is wrong.
1213000 tn?1280463161 s the fact that I am on Plasurgrel, which I guess is more efficient at thinning the blood than Plavix and, while a remote possibility, a GI bleed would potentially be catastrophic.
Avatar f tn I think you need to see a GI doctor to get upper and lower scopes to rule out other causes. Hope this helps and take care.
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Gerd in 2013 since then i have taken omperazole, nexium, zantac basically anything i could afford since the insurance stopped covering it. Ive had issues here an there with dysphia but lately it has gotten worse. I always cut my food in tiny bites i take my time in fact my kids pick on me cause i take so long to eat. But in the past 2 days i have had the issue 3 times. My new dr only wants me to try omperazole for another 3 months then she's sending me back to the gi dr.
Avatar f tn My husband is 40 year's old and has had hypothryoidism and hypoglycemia for several years. He takes one 200MCG tablet of levothroid every day. REcently, he started having severe chest pains. Last Sunday, they were so bad we took him to the ER where they performed all sorts of heart tests and determined it wasn't his heart.
Avatar m tn I have been to my PCP and he took a swab and gave me Cipro. The swab was negative and the Cipro did nothing. He sent me to see a ENT and he put me on a throat spray and still nothing. I saw a second ENT and he had no idea what it was or what was causing it. Any ideas ?
1273473 tn?1270775840 Yes, absolutely. About 3-4 months into treatment, I had heartburn and gerd. Have been taking Nexium and very helpful. I am on the 40mg in the morning and helping. I was also coughing, which I attribute to Riba and gerd. Another SX that will pass. Hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn My mother was where you were many years ago and she was VERY ill taking nexium for 6 years. The answer to her suffering was to up the dosage of nexium. smh. My mother no longer suffers severe GERD/LPR or severe gastritis. I searched online and to my shock found low stomach acid is most commonly the reason for acid reflux conditions. I found a simple baking soda test for low stomach acid and her results showed severely low stomach acid.
