Common Questions and Answers about Nexium bones

nexium

Avatar f tn ve been on it ever since, until now.. Nexium eats your calcium, my bones have started to feel like they ache so I started drinking almond milk and drink protein shakes to get the probiotics I need to help the acid and help me eat. My body aches, bones do, and I'm worried that I could developed a type of bone cancer. I didn't ask my mom because she thinks my anxiety screws me in the head makes me worry about 'stupid' stuff.. I just need to know.. Thank you.
Avatar n tn There is nothing in the manufacturer's literature regarding bone loss with Nexium. If the Nexium is diminishing your calcium supply then you may need to increase your calcium intake. First, I would suggest a bone density scan to make sure if your calcium levels are low or not and to measure the strength of your bones. Please discuss this issue further with your primary doctor.
Avatar n tn Evidently a recent study has shown that PPIs and histamine blocking medications used to treat acid reflux may contribute to bone loss. They apparently interfere with the way the body absorbs calcium, which can affect the strength of the bones and make them more prone to fracture. The study found that people who took either PPIs or histamine blockers once daily for a year or longer had an increased risk of hip fracture.
Avatar m tn Recently I learned that it can reduce uptake of calcium and have a negative effect on bones. After how long period of taking Esomeprazole this negative effect can occur? How about with other parts of body having calcium, e.g., teeth, quality of saliva, muscle contraction, etc? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have the feeling he may give me Nexium. That stuff scares me because of the rep it has for harming bones. It blocks magnesium absorption or something? I used to take Zantac but I was doing great for nearly a year now, even without taking it, so I didn't bother. But I think I was drinking too much coffee lately and set it off. Do other people here get head pressure and ear pressure with GERD/chest gas? What are the risks with Nexium? Are there other options to try?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Barrett's in 2006, and have been on Nexium (40mg) daily ever since. Fortunately, the Barrett's has healed completely, but I am concerned that continued use of Nexium may result in loss of bone and eventual hip fracture. I take calcum, vitamin D, (and other supplements) and exercise regularly, but I can feel my bones "thinning down" (fingers and toes). Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my bone strength up?
Avatar n tn Hi, probably it is cervical spondylosis. “Cervical spondylosis results from chronic degeneration of the cervical spine including the cushions between the neck vertebrae (cervical disks) and joints between the bones of the cervical spine. There may be abnormal growths or "spurs" on the vertebrae (the bones of the spine). These accumulated changes caused by degeneration can gradually compress one or more of the nerve roots.
Avatar f tn He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

Avatar f tn I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?
Avatar f tn Because of the possibility of heartburn, I have been on Nexium since the end of Dec. I also don't eat a lot of spicy or fatty food or drink soda, I don't smoke or drink and I'm not a very stressed out person. After reading quite a bit about what could be causing this, I stopped eating a late night snack because I read it could trigger heartburn. And by snack, I mean, I ate some grapes or a handful of Cheezits or something a long those lines.
Avatar f tn Anybody almost due and their bones hurt???? My hips r killing me if I move my knees make a popping noise n ect. Am I the only one??

Avatar f tn My doctor informed me that I have a condition where the bones are "too good". I'm not sure if that means I have too much calcium or not but I asked if I should discontnue using calcium and she indicated that I should continue to take them. I though she said the condition was called "osteoporisis" but am not sure and I'm unable to find anything with that title.
1569985 tn?1328247482 m not depleting my body of minerals and vitamins anymore, and am not as likely to get infections or broken bones as easily as when I was on Nexium. I still have a pounding heart at times (just a feeling that my heart is beating harder). But my blood pressure is fine when that happens and the heartbeat is regular. So for right now, things are going okay. Although at age 69, I keep getting other little health surprises.
Avatar m tn i saw this guy floydd wright on youtube who says do not take nexium if you have hep c . has anyone heard of nexium being dangerous to induce hep c ?
Avatar f tn I doubt that "NEXIUM" has anything to do with your sisters knee pain. You can refer to the package insert if you look up the medication..

Avatar m tn I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took.
Avatar f tn He said if it improves even more he will say the nexium caused it. Because my tongue got this way just 4 to six months after taking nexium. Now does anyone have the answers I'm looking for did nexium do this to me?
