Nexium and vitamin b

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and vitamin b

nexium

Avatar f tn Boy, been down this road. ENT docs all had me on Nexium on and off. Was told to stay on it. After about 3 months, was having bad low back pain and pain on the top of both thighs. I then had a left rib fracture of unknown cause. At that time, no side effects like this were published. I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone.
Avatar f tn had a ultrasound done a couple months ago, which was normal. i am 35, on nexium 40 mg as well as calcium, vitamin b complex (two a day), vitamin c, vitamin e as well as fish oil. it does affect my knee as well. i wear heels (2") during the workday..........my hands and feet also tingle at times...........and i am quite fatigued. thanks for any suggestions.
Avatar n tn If you have had a vagotomy, taking Nexium is not advised, A vagotomy reduces acid production and the Nexium also reduces acid production. My advice, having gone through the same surgery ,is to stop taking the Nexium, which by the way is not recommended for use more than 14 days. Take a fiber supplement mixed with water and a teaspoon of cider vinegar before every meal . If you should have occasional acid stomach symptoms, take regular Tums.
Avatar n tn ve had low B 12 in the past you meed to be extra vigilant about it in the present and future. The symptoms can be neurological and can be mild or very severe. It can be confused with Alzheimer's, MS, stroke and some other serous stuff. In a healthy normal person they get B12 from their diet and then this special area of your intestines make something called "intrinsic factor" that makes the B12 work.
1274110 tn?1270788561 I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.
Avatar n tn I am having another episode and am extremely nauseous, have slowed bowel movements, acid reflux and pain above the belly button. My doctor suspects an ulcer flaring up and has given me nexium to treat. I will see her in a week. Nexium is not having much effect. What is a differential diagnosis and what test can I have to deny or confirm ulcers? Is it possible to have multiple ulcers? I also suffer from tremors and am not on any medication except for nexium.
Avatar f tn Yes nexium is ok to take, i hane cirrhosis and thats what my hepo ordered for me, he did switch me to prilosec only because its over the counter same as prevacid which is also ok.............
Avatar n tn My doctor diagnosed me almost a year ago with "the worst case of acid reflux [she'd] ever seen." Literally, I would drink a glass of water and get reflux issues. I was put on Nexium for a long time, and I have since switched to Prilosec OTC because I ran out of health insurance. It's been about five days on Prilosec but I keep feeling nauseous in the morning after I take it, but it's nothing too bad and it goes away fairly quickly.
Avatar m tn s has healed completely, but I am concerned that continued use of Nexium may result in loss of bone and eventual hip fracture. I take calcum, vitamin D, (and other supplements) and exercise regularly, but I can feel my bones "thinning down" (fingers and toes). Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my bone strength up?
Avatar m tn There are countless Scientific articles which enumerate the symptoms of Zinc, Magnesium and Vitamin C and B Vitamin deficiencies - and its not surprising that they are STRIKINGLY similar (read: THE SAME) as the symptoms experienced by people who have depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
Avatar n tn Nexium itself does not cause bone loss, but it may decrease the absorption of drugs and vitamins. Nexium may decrease the absorption of calcium and vitamin D leading to bone loss.
Avatar f tn I have been going to a holistic doctor for about two years now and take a lot of supplements and have bloodwork done every 3 months to check my hormone levesl, including the B12 because of taking the Nexium. I do take B12 and vitamin D on a daily basis. He is the one wanting me not to take the Nexium and has tried me on several things that didn't work. I found some natural chewable pills with aloe vera in them that actually work pretty well.
Avatar f tn For this reason, Japan has risen the lowest level of B12 to 550pg/mL. Nexium causes vitamin B12 deficiency (and plenty of other deficiency states) as it lowers stomach acid essential to release instrinsic factor needed to bind to vitamin B12 for absorption in the gut. A more accurate test for vitamin B12 deficiency is a urinary methylmalonic acid test. (UMMA). Methylmalonic acid rises just 10 days after a vitamin B12 deficiency starts.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Excess vitamin D causes hypocalcemia, That is to say low blood calcium. You must (a) have very low D3 levels and (b) the doctor doesn't trust you to take two 2,000 IU units a day. There is nothing wrong with the once-a-week 50,000 IU dose, until you get your levels to normal. That being said, on the day you take the 50,000 IU dose take a calcium supplement or drink a quart of milk that day. If you don't you will be prone to "charley horse" cramps.
Avatar f tn Her symptoms of low B12 included pins and needles and numbness. Vitamin B12 is essential for the myelin sheath that surrounds the nerves.
Avatar f tn The MRI scan shows no issues - they have run MRI, CatScan, EEG, EMG, Muscle Biospy, Spinal Tap, all sorts of blood work and after three weeks have found nothing except some vitamin deficiency. She still cannot walk and has confusion and short term memory - Has anyone heard of anything like this. Is it possible that is vitamin deficiency? Any Ideas appreciated. .
689528 tn?1364135841 I haven't experienced morning sickness yet. (Fingers crossed I don't) At times I'll get like a hot spell and maybe feel a little nauseated but it never lasts longer than a minute. Anyway...was wondering if everyone takes extra vitamin B?! It's supposed to help and while TTC I started taking B50 complex and I am still continuing it. I think this may be why I don't feel sick.....LOL I'll keep ya updated though cuz I'll just be 5 weeks tomorrow!!
Avatar f tn Is it ok to take B-complex for a little energy while pregnant? I am 30 weeks along and dragging butt big time!
Avatar m tn for the past eight years I have been taking a muli-vitamin and a B-complex. I have also been taking Nexium 40mg. twice a day for the past three years. I stopped smoking about ten years ago, and my Gastroenterologist has already told me about not eating heavy meals, and not to eat anything at least 3 hours before bedtime. I don't drink coffee anymore and only drink tea once in a while. I try to avoid fried foods(not easy) and I don't drink soda or anything with a fizz to it.
Avatar m tn The nutrients most affected are calcium, iron, folic acid, vitamin K and many B vitamins. See pernicious anemia.
Avatar m tn Has anyone stopped using nexium with success. How long did it take and how did you do it?
