Avatar f tn Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.
Avatar m tn ooo I know a girl (rachel) that might have the same problems you're having.. upper abdominal pain/upper back pain..nausea.. probably an ulcer, caused by h.ploryi. It's confirmed usually by a test or there's a not so accurate breath test. Usually treated with triple therapy antibiotics. Even though you're taking nexium, h. ploryi still can live and prosper in a stomach..so you probably need that blood test asap. Your primary doctor can order the test for you.
Avatar f tn I am currently ONLY on Nexium 40mg a day and I take the pill in the morning, and no matter how much I manage to drink, by 2am the next morning I wake up because my tongue and mouth are BONE dry! I can't find any answers other than this being a side effect. Hopefully it's not damaging my liver or sucking water out of my system!
238010 tn?1420406272 First, liver damage is not the same as HepC. You can have HepC without significant liver damage and you can have liver damage without HepC. Fatty Liver Disease can lead to significant liver damage for example. Secondly, it is possible to take necessary medication which can give your liver a work out but not necessarily do it major damage.
Avatar f tn there sure are a bunch of us that have it...I take a PPI for it (Nexium) and it seems to keep it in check.
Avatar m tn Many vitamins and supplements can cause damage to the liver depending on the dose. One study in the USA found that up to one third of the patients in a liver clinic used herbal remedies. One of the most hepatotoxic vitamins is Vitamin A and anyone taking vitamin A supplements should be aware that doses higher than 25,000 IU (international units) per day may be dangerous. Most multivitamin preparations contain 4,000 IU vitamin A, which is well within the safety range.
Avatar f tn I am having a liver biopsy next week and I'm really worried about what they'll find. My ANA was 1:1280 with a centromere pattern. I don't have any CREST symptoms, but I do have many of the symptoms for Autoimmune Hepatitus, which is what the doctor suspects. Anyway, I am Bipolar and I have read that Cortisone can cause major problems for people who are prone to Psychotic Episodes.
Avatar m tn Recently i had a scalp infection and was given anti fungals during the treatment i started feeling nausea and bitter taste so i went in for a liver screen blood work which showed my sgot was within a normal range by my sgpt was elevated at 66 the normal range being till 65 and a bilirubin of 1.14 the others like ggt, ag ration etc were all normal, my hemoglobin was 19 but since i am a smoker and spend alot of time in the studio it was not something to worry about.
979080 tn?1323433639 Prilosec and Nexium are very similar. Nexium is Prilosec that has been slightly modified.

Avatar f tn Most knowledgeable hepatologists prescribe proton pump inhibitor (PPI) drugs like Nexium or Prilosec. Both are generally considered liver friendly; omeprazole is available generically if cost is an issue.
Avatar f tn Since month ago I been having a constant lump sensation on my throat that comes and go. I read It could be Gloubus Sensation" and the main causes are strees o GERD . I had an endoscopy about two weeks ago I was diagnosed with GERD , a little Heital Hernia, Duodenitis without bleeding and a Decreased Peristalsis in the Stomach suggestive of Gastroparesis. They also took me some biopsies but now I'm wating for the results in two weeks. The Dr.
Avatar m tn Endoscopy and Colono scopy were done and everything looked normal. Continuing Nexium treatment.Fatty liver and fatty pancreas diagnosed. 2014 March - Endoscopy, CT Scan and Ultra sound were done. Results say Gastric antrum mild chronic inflammation, fatty liver and pancreas. Now a days the health looks like deteriorating. Started feeling pain on right and left side of stomach continuously. Sqeezing sensation in stomach. Feeling weak and fatigue.Sometimes after eating.
Avatar n tn All pharmaceutical products adversely affect the liver, and dark spots on the skin have traditionally been attributed to liver elimination, such as liver spots. There are natural liver cleanses you can use if that turns out to be an issue.
Avatar n tn The doctor who performed the endo said my esophagus was totally healed and I could stop taking the Nexium. I did and my symptoms returned within a few days. I tried ranitidine - no help. Finally it was so bad I asked my MD to put me back on Nexium. I have tried stopping the Nexium several times. I've tried Prilosec OTC. It helped while I was actually on it, but once the 14 day course was finished my symptoms returned after 2 days.
547181 tn?1255146506 Yes this is fairly common during tx, check with you doctor about giving you either nexium, prevacid, or prilosec. All are safe to take, nexium and prevacid worked best for me. Congrats on being over halfway done. Wishing you the best.
Avatar n tn My mother was on long term acid blocker nexium (similar to prilosec (omeprazole) but more powerful) and these were some of the dozens of symptoms that she no longer suffers with since stopping nexium... severe major clinical depression, severe anxiety, severe constant fungal infections, homocysteine in imminent heart attack range, severe angina pain, severe stomach pain (nexium worsened her gastritis), sky high blood pressure - given less than 5 years to live by an international specialist.
Avatar n tn look its your choice there is a sensible way of taking nexium and keeping fit and taking nexium and eating non-healthy, cheers.
Avatar f tn Hi ! Been wanting to catch up with you. The first rheumy said I have RA and the new one I went to says I don't. My nuclear whole body scan shows most EVERY joint in my body to be degenerative. (does that mean erosion)? I do have that positive RA Factor and have pain. But now I don't know if I may have Lupus. My Lupus labs are negative including the DNA. Can they eventually become positive?
Avatar n tn Hi...hoping someone out there can help or give me some advice...I've been having daily diarrhea and/or multiple soft stools for 3 months. It does not wake me up in the middle of the night but starts up about an hour after I wake. Starts with a slight burning feeling below my breastbone that slowly moves down my abdomen. Nexium isn't doing anything.
Avatar n tn Kimby, if you haven't already done so, you may want to start a low fat diet to see if that helps. In addition, if you're taking any form of hormones rethink that decision. They can and do effect the functioning of the GB. If you've got bile reflux, ask the doc to try some carafate instead of the nexium to see if that will help if the irritation is due to bile and not acid. Nexium isn't going to do a darned thing for bile.
Avatar m tn Hi, Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.
Avatar f tn Agreeing with Tashka, Nexium and others in the PPI class of drugs are routinely prescribed to HCV patients— Bill
Avatar m tn Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign. Gastro changed me to aciphex once a day and reglan at night. This was 4 days ago....eating a little better but still have some bouts with nausea....will it take time for the new meds to work? Or could something else be going on to cause this....*by the wayk, i also had an ultra sound of abdominal area - all normal.
Avatar m tn I called because the list of side effects in the literature said this was rare and could meant liver problems and that I should call the doctor. (I have hep c with moderate stage two liver fibrosis) Just wondering if anyone else experienced this. I don't feel bad or have any yellowing eyes or dark urine which is often associated with this.
