Nexium and heart attacks

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and heart attacks

nexium

Avatar f tn There is a constant pain that comes and goes, kind of in waves. And much more severe pain that I have come to call attacks. The pain is focused in the center of my chest but it feels like my lungs are cramped up. It's difficult to breath, I get light headed and sweaty. During the attacks, I have tried applying ice, heat, stretching, laying down, bending over, arms above my head...nothing helps. I take 2 - 3 vicodin and these put me to sleep. At first the attacks lasted 15 min.
Avatar f tn It felt like someone pinched by heart, then it pounded hard, and I felt numb and cold and dizzy (like I was going to faint). It only last for less than a minute. I do have a appointment with the cardio tomorrow. I had just started taking Nexium 2 days before (for the GERD) and I have been having a lot of stress (I had a breast lump that came back benign). I got that news the day before the episode, so you would think I would be elated, not having strange heart stuff.
Avatar n tn Well if any of you are taking nexium that may be why I have been taking nexium for 3 weeks now it seems like everytime i did i would feel dizzy nauseous and got diarrea so i stop taking it and im feeling less dizzy still nauseaus but is only been the second day im off the nexium and i believe that all dose symptoms are all side effects of nexium
Avatar n tn If you have had a vagotomy, taking Nexium is not advised, A vagotomy reduces acid production and the Nexium also reduces acid production. My advice, having gone through the same surgery ,is to stop taking the Nexium, which by the way is not recommended for use more than 14 days. Take a fiber supplement mixed with water and a teaspoon of cider vinegar before every meal . If you should have occasional acid stomach symptoms, take regular Tums.
393165 tn?1420760445 I was so obsessed with what my heart and breathing were doing, and so worried about every fluctuation from the norm that I was having anxiety attacks from worrying about having heart attacks that felt like heart attacks! I stopped taking the metropolol, and I no longer have anxiety to the extreme. Now if I get a little worried I can talk myself down. But the anxiety I was having as a side effect of that pill was completely beyond my control and was crippling me with fear!
Avatar f tn For over 3 1/2 years (since I had my daughter) I have dealt with a range of symptoms : brain fog, feeling "off", feeling dizzy, feeling like im gonna pass out (eyes are dilated when this happens), heart palpitations, tingling, numbness, Panic attacks with tremors, cold, night sweats, leg cramps, belching, feeling of doom. I was scared to be alone with my infant daughter, thought I would pass out!
Avatar m tn hi i am a 37 year old male. I have had a hiatal hernia for 17 years. I have also been dealing with panic attacks ever since. I can't smoke (which is good), I cant drink alcohol. I can't eat big meals. I can't eat much chocolate, coffee, caffeinated sodas, too much of anything that is a stimulant (pain meds, energy drinks, etc.). Lately, i had been smoking, it literally caused me a panic attack almost every time i finished one.
Avatar n tn then all at once it came back but now i get the shakey, lightheaded, feeling, pain under my left rib cage, fullness in the middle of my chest, lump feeling in my throat, and sometimes that acidy taste when i burp in my throat and mouth, along with the heavy chest feeling and racing heart. i take zantac 150 now maybe itll work. idk... just wondering if anyone else feels this way or am i going crazy or is it something else. also i have lots of gas that seems to come and go from time to time.
Avatar m tn Acid Reflux Medication Heart Attack Class Action Lawsuit Investigation A recent study found that proton pump inhibitor heartburn treatments such as Nexium, Prilosec and Prevacid may be linked to an increased risk of heart attack, heart failure or sudden cardiac death.
Avatar f tn Mental stress and physical exertion can cause angina (chest pain) due to the heart not receiving enough blood/oxygen. Your doctor should have given you a free sample of a nitrate. If there is immediate relief from the discomfort, it could indicate occluded vessels. A nitrate pill diltates coronary vessels. An EKG is not very reliable for ischemia dx. A stress test is a better test for possible occlusions.
Avatar m tn The mixture of Metroprolol, Ezitrol, Lipitor, Ramipril, Isordil, Plavix, Nexium and Aspro and now Coralan leaves me feeling quite week and lathargic and always very tired. My BP is steady at around 100/60, my cholesterol is below 4. I did used to walk about 2km a day before I started Coralan even though I got angina, but now I feel I just dont have the energy to do the walk to see if I still get angina. Not sure what yer answer might be but thought Id write this down anyway.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I eventually weaned off Nexium, and to my great surprise my PVCs stopped. I had my heart monitored just to be sure, (before my regular treadmill stress test) and the cardiologist said there were no longer any PVCs at all. The doctor said that PPIs like Nexium, or Prevacid, or Prilosec not only deplete calcium and B vitamins, but magnesium too. (and our hearts need magnesium to be healthy. He also said that some water filters reduce the calcium and magnesium our bodies need.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was on 60-80mg of Nexium and after about 3 years of going through a lot of tests and alternatives I ended up having the Nissen Fundoplication on the 8th of Feb. 2012 and due to the longstanding GERD I have long segment of Barrets and damage to UES muscle. What type of tests have you undergone so far?
Avatar m tn I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took.
Avatar n tn s because I played 4 games of football in a tournament during the bout and would have prab died if it was my heart ha. So i went back on the nexium and only ate chicken/turkey and steamed vegtables and have been feeling great fore the last 7 days until last night when I went out and I guess was nervous the bloating beching started and yes the pvc's also. Lasted for a few hours till I got home and relaxed then they went away as the bloating/ belching went away.
Avatar f tn I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?
Avatar n tn Just read that Metoprolol can lower HDL. Sometimes my HDL will get in the upper 30's which is below the normal 40 that is suggested. Worries me because I have two people I know that have had heart attacks and their LDL was in the 60's. Their HDL was low (below 30) which doctor told them that this allow caused their buildup. I want to get HDL up and I exercise daily, eat fish twice a week, take Niaspan, and Krill oil. Thinking the Metoprolol is the issue.
Avatar n tn I used to wake up at night with horrible acid attacks that burned my throat, airway and mouth. I was finally put on Nexium (40mg) and that helped a lot. Recently however I have been having a fluttering sensation in my chest and throat along with lighheadness, some coughing and just not feeling well. Although I have recently lost some weight I feel the symptons are getting worse. Do you think these new symptons are related to the weight loss or is my condition getting worse.
Avatar f tn It might be necessary to increase the Nexium dose, but from my experience, this is a very minor issue. The need to take Plavix trumps the Nexium issue. Plavix and aspirin are essential to keep your stents from plugging up again. It sounds like your hospital doesn't have a good program in place for education after an MI and cath. I work a day a week at our hospital as a Cardiac Navigator, as I've had MI's, eight stents, a pacer and bypass surgery and still standing.
Avatar n tn I've wondered that too, although I have ventricular arrhythmia (PVCs) instead. I've also wondered if the acid reducers could have caused the irregular beat problem. I do know that reflux and associated gas/bloating that I get after my evening meal seem to make the heart arrthythmia worse, and that I feel it more then. Also, I've read that PPIs, like Prilosec or Nexium (which I take) have heart arrhythmia listed as a "less common" side effect.
Avatar m tn im 32 years old male for the past few years ive been getting strange sensations in my stomach and chest i get chest pain and also feeling of pressure and also a bloating nausea sensation in my stomach symptoms dont always be the same they change i cud have sum light chest pain and nothing else other days i cud have chest pressure dat cud last for a day im a regular drinker and smoker also i went 2 my gp he said its panic attacks and anxiety just like to know if anyone experience the same symptom
1274110 tn?1270788561 59 year old male. Had a heart attack at 37 and triple bypass. Had a double bypass 9 years later. Had to quit work in 2004 because of severe angina and shortness of breath. EF of 40. Was on 60mg of Imdur 2 times a day and nitro patch. Doing EECP every 6 months to keep angina tolerable. I am a I have been taking 1000 MG of Ranexa twice a day for about 6 weeks. I came off of Imdur 60 mg twice a day and a nitro patch.
Avatar m tn I had a mild heart attack in 2005 and was told when they did a heart cath that there are no blockages and that my MI was probably due to coronary spasm. I have been hospitalized repeatedly since the heart attack and have tried all the usual medications such as verapamil, cardizem, imdur, metoprolol, lisinopril, norvasc and magnesium. I do not tolerate cardizem or imdur well. The angina was not controlled until they started me on Ranexa last year because the pain was constant and severe.
Avatar f tn You could try tums or pepto bismal the next time you get hit with a nausea wave and see if it subsides. Also anxiety attacks or panick attacks can bring on nausea buuut..ee.. either way it wouldn't hurt to do a few weeks of nexium honestly if that's what it is. But yeah my personal opinion, I think that surgeon would want to know if you're having some problems before surgery just to be safe.
