Avatar f tn I started a new med for my heart which recently started acting up could that be the culprit for these side effects and not the colonscopy but I've only been on the new med for a week or so. Someone help.

Avatar f tn Instead of coming off the the meds abruptly, think about coming off of the meds a step at a time over a period of weeks-to-months. There can be a problem with 'rebound' reflux and it can make a person miserable. So please factor that into your plan. Issues being reported with the use of PPIs and heart/electrical conduction disturbances, and this side-effect is now being noted on the 'side-effect' section of the patient handouts on these medications.
Avatar f tn I started taking Pradaxa less thatn a montha ago and am taking the same dosage and noticed the same heartburn and was prescribed Nexium for it. That is one of the side effects. I really did not experience the fatigue but I do have hip pain but I think that is due to skipping the gym for a couple of weeks. I'd call the Doc and let them know what is up.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
Avatar f tn It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!
Avatar n tn Well if any of you are taking nexium that may be why I have been taking nexium for 3 weeks now it seems like everytime i did i would feel dizzy nauseous and got diarrea so i stop taking it and im feeling less dizzy still nauseaus but is only been the second day im off the nexium and i believe that all dose symptoms are all side effects of nexium
Avatar f tn I believe I did hear a piece on the news - a brief bit as news usually goes, that some of the PPIs can cause joint problems. Google "side effects of Nexium". I took Nexium for 5 or 6 years and each day was misery with uncontrollable diarrhea, and pain. I am almost certain that there is a connection. It has many side effects, but I no longer have my pharmacy print-out of the side effects listed. My doctor told me Prevacid would not cause severe colitis, but it did.
Avatar n tn What side effects can this medication cause? Lansoprazole may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: stomach pain constipation diarrhea nausea headache dizziness Some side effects can be serious.
Avatar m tn However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor, meaning they either require no treatment or are easily treated by a healthcare provider.
Avatar f tn She is quite nervous about the side effects. We dont really know what to expect as I have heard different things from different doctors and nurses. I know it probably effects people differently but I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences that they could share with me as to what to expect?

Avatar m tn worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan). I'd like to know if anybody has experienced intollerance to the various antireflux medicines similar to mine. Have you ever had a severely burning tongue caused by them?
Avatar f tn Well, usually the medications that are prescribed after keeping in mind the benefits vs the side effects. A few individuals may suffer from the rarer side effects while the medications may still be continued due to the benefits associated. Mild-moderate gastroparesis is largely managed with conservative measures such as diet change and medications, while severe cases may require surgical or interventional measures.
Avatar n tn Red_Star gave good advice regarding side effects, as well as info regarding levels of stomach acid. Paradoxically, ingesting several tablespoons of cider, which is slightly acidic, will assist with GERD. Cutting to the chase the primary problem with long-term use of medications is cumulative liver damage. There are blood tests that can determine when this starts to develop. Gabapenten is (in my opinion) a nightmare on Elm street.
Avatar f tn I have never suffered from heart burn, or anything else relating to acid reflux. I never get any side effects from eating spicy or acidic foods. Could acid reflux really cause the hoarseness of my voice?
1569985 tn?1328247482 I am going to try to get off this med because it has other side effects such as worsening osteoporis and making one susceptible to pneumonia. It boggles the mind to think my heart issues might be linked to this drug. If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it.
