neurontin

337492 tn?1212458836 I also take 500mg of magnesium for my headaches but I space it out so that it will not conflict with the neurontin. I had the strangest migraine last night and my aura was different and I have not suffered a headache for several months, last time being caused by Lamictil. I found out the reason why there, was Lamictil messes with the metabolization of birth control pills, hence messing with my hormone levels which equals a migraine.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Neurontin for what they are thinking are overactive nerves. I had an injury 2 years ago and am still in pain and they think it's from the nerves not having settled or still being irritated. The doc said this was the safest med he prescribes. I don't like medicine.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Gabapentin 100 mg for a couple of days and have had severe migraine slash sinus headache ever since. What does be from the medicine?
Avatar f tn i know its common with ms but mine have presented in an a-typical way (no vomitting or aura, and fatigue without pain) making a migraine dx less obvious. my ms nurse only just suggested it could be migraine...well duh! lol im keen to hear other peoples tips, statergies and strories.

1397091 tn?1296576718 My question is, after a tramatic ordeal like my last migraine, is there anything I can do to prevent the flare ups? I am still on my neurontin twice a day. Thanks for any ideas!
Avatar f tn I was on other meds, Celebrex, Skelaxin and am off of all except Neurontin. I have tapered the Neurontin to 500mg/day. This question is related to side effects that may be due to Neurontin or maybe my migraines. When I was on a higher dose of Neurontin I was getting almost daily visual disturbances in both eyes that looked like what my migraine auras look like but those are in one eye and are followed by a headache.
751951 tn?1406632863 s working on the theory that this is a non-typical form of migraine, and prescribed Neurontin between now and when I see him again at the end of June. This is supposed to help with neuropathic pain. However, he also said something that I haven't heard before from any of the docs I've seen about this whole batch of whatever it is that's been messing me up since last year some time.
1036535 tn?1278502599 More an update than a question. Well, I was doing well-for a few days. Now the Neurontin isn't helping at all. My whole body is burning/prickling and hurting again, almost like I have the flu, and a finger in the light socket. And the corner of my mouth is still tingling. I would lay down and cry, but I have to work! Apparently I overdid it the last few days. Overactive and overheated.
Avatar f tn I get a wavy line that moves (like a migraine aura without the migraine) for about half an hour in both eyes and it goes away.
Avatar f tn Neurontin, a.k.a. gabapentin, has been a Godsend in fighting my eye pain, but I haven't noticed a correlation with the weird visual field stuff -- which happens to be very much like you described here. As to urgency, none of the docs I've seen in 4+ years seem excited about it. Comes & goes.
Avatar f tn I ended up giving her a nurontin and it stopped the migraine immediately. I was just grasping at straws and thought since it was a seizure medicine, that it might stop her episode.
Avatar f tn I take 300mg Neurontin at night for Migraine prevention and have gained 5 pounds on it over the course of 6 weeks. I hope that that the weight gain will taper off.
Avatar f tn There are other primary headache disorders that can cause unilateral pain other than migraine. One is a primary stabbing headache. This headache often occurs in people with migraine. The pain itself generally lasts a fraction of a second but can last for up to one minute in some people. Another type of stabbing headache is called paroxysmal hemicrania. This is marked by episodes of stabbing or sharp pains that occur on one side of the head and may be associated with eye tearing or runny nose.
410281 tn?1254229064 When I go back to my neuro (which is not until March) I will make sure I talk to him in depth about migraine so I can work out a plan and see what med he recommends, at the moment the neurontin has made a massive difference to my eye symptoms. Take care, Udkas... My migraine med was meant to a preventive medicine that I needed to be on for 3mths to see if it would work, at the moment I am contemplating adding amitryptiline to my mix for the burning pain I am still experiencing...
1324381 tn?1280274982 Plan 1: Take an Axert (Migraine medication)- I did this even before I called him - FAILED Plan 2: Nasal Spray Butorphanol Tartrate (Narcotic) - Sure I didn't care I had a headache, but...
Avatar f tn I have a headache that the doctors call a migraine. But I get migraines also and this is not like that at all. It is a pain that I get on the right side of my head. The best description that I can give would be the same sensitivity on the right side of my head as one would get if you have sensitive teeth and drank something hot or cold. When these headaches start, nothing could touch my head. I can't comb my hair, put on a hat or rest my head on that side.
Avatar f tn I was switched to etodolac and promethazine for migraine treatment. I also take soma and neurontin for preventative measures. Good luck with your treatments!!
Avatar f tn t stay on it) and Neurontin with Neurontin being the only medicine that provides any relief so far. This is not rebound headache as I rarely ever take OTC or any other medicines except for Neurontin. HELP PLEASE from anyone with experience with this. Family needs me and I need to get back to normal.

Avatar n tn I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed Neurontin for menapausal symptoms of night sweats, really bad inosomnia and restless leg syndrome. 200 mg nightly worked nicely for 2 weeks. Then it didn't do a thing so doctor increased it to 300-400 mg per night. I tried to stick to 300 mg but after 48 hours without sleep and feeling like I as losing my mind, I caved and took 400. That worked but now isn't. I take it, feel weak and exhuasted but can't sleep.
Avatar m tn Researchers have indeed identified three genes linked with hemiplegic migraine. However, if you did not test positive, this can be due to sporadic hemiplegic migraine. Both preventive and abortive medications may also help provide relief. If the prescribed medication is not working, inform your doctor for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
