Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin dosage maximum

neurontin

Avatar f tn It helped with my muscle spasms a great deal. I finally developed a tolerance to it up to the maximum recommended dosage, so switched to a different med. But it worked very well for me, with low side effects. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. My daughter is 15 yrs old and had been prescribed a total of 2500 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Does anyone know the max dose for diamox? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I am currently taking 60mg of Nortriptyline a day for neuropathic pain. It hasn't been effective so I am planning to switch to Neurontin. What is the average dose of Neurontin for pain management? More specifically, with a chronic pain level between 5-7. Is there a database for Neurontin dosage? I will be ramping to 300mg of Neurontin per day but am wondering if that's too conservative.
1740498 tn?1328962585 I agree, to be on the safe side, call your pharmacist. When my neuro recommended I slowly titrate up my dosage, I added 100mg every few days. You should gradually increase up to the point that you get maximum relief. That might be 600mg, 3x per day, or it might be less, or you might need more. The max recommended safe dosage is 3600 mg per day, which is the dosage I currently am on, (1200mg x 3) with no side effects.
Avatar n tn I can't sleep was prescribed melatonin what is the maximum dosage I can take I am 16. 8 stone 12 about 5'10.
600857 tn?1230057770 Please do not worry about Neurontin. I have taken it for a long time and at twice the dose your at. I have not had one problem from it and it does work on my nerve pain. I have had absolutely no side effects even from the increases I've had. In my opinion, it is a completely safe drug. If you have any douts about it then Google "Neurontin Side Effects" it should give you a really good indepth look at the drug.
1207048 tn?1282174304 Neurontin has a huge dosing range with the maximum recommended dose being 3600mg per day. Most people feel relief by 1800mg per day or so. I would have to look it up to see if it works by establishing a level that must be maintained. If that is correct, then once a day would not likely be effective. I suggest you discuss this with your pharmacist. It truly sounds like he is using it as a sleep aid for the discomfort.
Avatar n tn when the doctor said 200 was the maximum he accepted that. He does seem to be doing well, but I am worried. what chance is there of his ever getting off of it, or at least onto a lower dose?
Avatar f tn Is there anyone on here that would be able to answer a few questions for me regarding Neurontin? I did read a few of the older posts and articles on here which actually lead me to have more questions. I'm kind of wondering if maybe I am under dosed based on what I have read. (I have had this issue with other meds with my neuro). I also have some questions regarding missed doses and I can't seem to find any clear answers in the literature. Thanks.
Avatar n tn ve been on several different therapies with short term success. My neurologist recently subscribed neurontin -- 300 mg 3x per day. The medication is really helping -- but I've experienced tremendous weight gain. What alternatives could I explore that would have similar success without the weight gain? Also -- when I do get break through headaches - what treatment plan would you suggest? Imitrex shot and pain med? Thank you for your direction.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar f tn I take 300mg 3 or 4 times a day and have been at this dosage for about 9 months for bulging C6/7. I'm scheduled for surgery in a few weeks and I want to stop the neurontin. My body starts aching horribly, and my mood really goes bad if I'm late for a dose. I'm on day two of eliminating the mid day dosage and I'm doing so-so. Does anyone have any advise for me?
429925 tn?1203905115 What is the maximum dosage for Effexor XR? Also, is it advisable to take with Lorazapham?
620877 tn?1282764097 For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
382218 tn?1341181487 Elavil, for the first little while, but nothing major. Neurontin - well I was up to 3600mg/day, the maximum dose, and it never ever made me sleepy. Others here have reported problems at only 100 - 300mg/day. I'm now experimenting with Lyrica; coming off the Neurontin slowly and going up on the Lyrica. GP prescripted up to a max. of 150mg per day of Lyrica. Right now I'm at 100mg Lyrica, 1800mg Neurontin, and 50mg Elavil.
Avatar f tn http://www.rxlist.com/neurontin-side-effects-drug-center.htm Is surgery an option for you?
Avatar f tn I don't have the pain level you refer to, and I have a diagnosis of MS. So I have no reference! However, if your neurontin seems to be less effective, you might check with your GP about upping the dosage. If you're already on the maximum recommended dosage, there are other pain relievers like Lyrica that might be more effective.
Avatar f tn I saw a Neurologist on Monday, a Physiologist on Tuesday. Together between these doctors we have developed a plan to treat me & to continue trying to find out what's wrong. I finally feel like I'm being treated, and someone wants to find the cause. The physiologist is great. I was put on Neurontin & Darvocet for the pain. I've taken darvocent before, so I know how it affects me - no problems there.
Avatar n tn However, it is common practice to increase medication dose to help control blood sugar (the maximum dose of metformin is about 2500 mg/day, in split doses). Some people do take their medication before eating. Please discuss changes in medication dosing with your md. You may also find that restricting carbs (eat more fat, non-starchy vegetables instead to replace the calories) may help in reducing your blood sugar.
Avatar f tn If you stop use of the Tylenol PM, it may take up to 2-4 weeks for you to adjust to falling asleep without the medication, but there should be no other problems. The current recommended maximum daily dosage of acetaminophen, commonly known as Tylenol, is 4000mg (4 grams) in a 24 hour period and one tablet of Tylenol PM contains 500mg of Acetaminophen and 25mg of Diphenhydramine. Therefore, if you take 2 tablets (1000mg or 1 gram) each night you are not exceeding the maximum daily dosage.
Avatar f tn I just started Neurontin (gabapentin). I'm on 100mg this week and next week I go up to 300mg. The 100mg is making me SOOOO dopy. Is this normal? What are other side effects? How bout the liver and kidneys?
