Neurontin and lortab

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and lortab

neurontin

Avatar n tn I am currently under the care of a Neurologist, who has prescribed 400 MG Gabapentin (Neurontin), 1 tablet 4 times a day, and Lortab 5/500, 1 tablet every 4 hours. I have been taking the Gabapentin as prescribed however, I only take the Lortab at bedtime. After one week, the Neurontin seems to be helping the frequency of the electric shocks that shoot from my groin to my knee, but my knee is still irritated, and will sporadically burn while resting, and when standing in one place.
Avatar n tn Maybe if you try the other ones they will help and you wont need the Lortab. I have spinal stenosis and bulging discs as well and like you it is worse when I am still in bed at night. The Neurontin helped me tremendously with that.(I also packed on about 30 pounds from it) I would ask about physical therapy. They can teach you some exercises that will really help with the pain and help strengthen the muscles to better support your spine so as not to allow the bone to press on your disc as much.
Avatar f tn All day yesterday, until about midnight last night, my legs were numb and tingly from the knees down. By late last night, they were beyond tingly and were burning so bad that I almost went to the ER. The Lortab, Baclofen and Neurontin didn't even touch it! I am still waiting to hear the results of my MRI from monday. Any suggestions to help with this pain until the neuro doc gets back to me? Cant take Lyrica, already take Neurontin and Cymbalta. Not sure what else to do!
Avatar f tn I take amitriptylline at night and lortab as needed but wish i had something to try before pain med. A lot of you are on muscle relaxers, would that help me try and avoid the lortab? I have to see ent because i think i have another sinus infection and he puts me on 3 weeks of levaquin, and my wrist tendonitis is worse, its depressing. taking pills, feel like a druggie and just want to feel good/normal again, ugh.

378810 tn?1201987233 I lost 40 lbs 3 years ago and have kept it off until like 8 months ago when pain doc started trying neurontin and lyrica for chronic myofascial pain..which did not work...and kept putting on weight. Now back on lyrica for nerve pain in TN but not really helping. What other drugs work that don't make you gain weight?? Okay sorry, just a downer day..or week..any input would be great on meds that work for TN..God Bless you all.
Avatar f tn 5 (6-8 tabs daily), adderall 20mg (6 daily), Neurontin, Soma, Effexor, Xanax, and she smokes just to name a few. Her last Physician stopped filling her Lortab and she is right now going cold-turkey without them. She has been on them for over 15 years straight. I have always been concerned for her health but just since January she is starting to figure out she "might have a problem." She is receptive to treatment but what can we do to start a positive recovery with her polypharmacy?
Avatar n tn But my back pain is still unbearable. Every day I was in a lot of pain and was taking 800 mg Advil and Robaxen Muscle Relaxer and Neurontin for burning in my feet. It was not touching my pain but I said OH well I will live with it as I refuse to become an addict again..... (after a short time) I went to a neurologist today who gave me Tramadol and I was assured that it was not addicting, I asked spec for something NON addicting (but stronger then Advil)..
Avatar f tn Well, I am only a week further than you post op, but I am still SUPPOSED ro be on morphine ER 15mg ,neurotin, elavil, lortab, and Norflex...which is about 4 less than I was on. This was my regimen before the Chiari started causing serious problems. However due to the lack of intelligence at Dr offices, I am without all, and I feel horrible. I never had withdrawl symptoms from neurotin though, and there were a few times I was on and off. I take 600mg of neurotin 3x a day.
1243848 tn?1268460072 That's a load of crap that pain meds do not help fibromyalgia. Maybe different people respond differently to different meds, but I know I was in PAIN PAIN PAIN for months and months before my doctor & I figured out what was wrong with me, and when he prescribed lortab, it gave me my life back!! I couldn't work, trying to take care of an 11 yr old son & keep house. OTC meds DIDN"T work, mobic DIDN'T work either.
Avatar f tn You can try asking a physician to prescribe you some Requip for restless legs, Neurontin for overall distress, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation and chelated magnesium for muscle relaxation. I have a huge problem with you taking tramadol "for the detox". You have to understand that tramadol is also an opiate and a highly addictive drug in its own right.
Avatar n tn Neurontin helps big time for withdrawals. I was also taking lortab and was prescribed neurontin for nerve pain. It didn't help with the pain though. I read about it and it is used in some detox centers. I took it and it made my withdrawals 90% easier. I still had a bit of anxiety and the body chills. I was able to sleep and didn't have the restless legs. So in my opinion I would say give it a try. There have been a few others on here that tried it and also said it helped.
Avatar n tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep, Clonidine helps with the creepy-crawly feeling and helps stabilize the blood pressure. All of these medications will make your life easier during this time. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
Avatar f tn Yes, Tramadol is an opiate and it is addictive. Wean off of it as carefully as you did with Lortabs. Neurontin will continue helping you with a lot of withdrawal symptoms. In fact, it is what I recommend for tapering in most cases. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn But, after an endless cycle of pain I decided to give in. Some of them are PRN, (Midrin and Soma), and Lortab is at night to help with the pain I get at night and occasionally during the day. I'm afraid that after surgery I will still need most of the meds. I have thyroid issues too. I am hypo...you and I have a lot of similarities. Before all of this started, my only medication was Levothyroxine. Now I feel like I'm 90 years old taking so much. Thanks for your information.
Avatar f tn 300 mg of Neurontin (3 x a day), and 5mg/500mg of Lortab (Every 4-6 hours as needed). My Acupuncturist believes it is my SI joint, and my PCP believes it is nerve pain from MS. Every other doctor has been totally clueless (besides the general term 'sciatica'). I will receive the results of my Pelvis/SI MRI on Thursday or Friday. My PCP thinks it will come back normal. I am no longer able to work, and had to file disability due to this pain.
Avatar f tn Opiates like codeine (hydrocodone and oxycodone) are usually compounded with another medicine, like the acetaminophen you mentioned, but also with aspirin. Among the medicines that codeine is mixed with aspirin are Lortab and Percodan, and they are short-acting. Opiates like morphine (hydromorphone) that are not compounded include the drug Dilaudid. Some other analgesics without Tylenol include Darvon and Ultram or Tramadol.
1925822 tn?1333705617 Ask if she can give you something like Neurotin, and maybe like lortab for breakthrough pain. It is a narcotic butmuch safer and I agree with selma I am wondering ifit could be a leak or ICP as well. PLease dont taket this, my bff(best forum friend ) !!!!!
Avatar f tn t have withdrawals then either, but I took 4 days of suboxone to give the lortab time to get out of my system, and the worst days over with.
Avatar f tn For example, Vicodin can be 5mg of hydro and 500mg of tylenol as can Lortab. Or Vicodin can be 10mg of hydro and 325 mg of tylenol and so can Lortab. So they only way one will be stronger than the other as if the Vicodin was 5/500 and the Lortab is 10/325. I hope I have been clear in anwsering your question. If I haven't been please let me know.
445838 tn?1205786577 Hot baths and heating pad is the only thing then that worked for me. Then I got on neurontin, and it sure helps because I still have RLS not as bad but I have bad days. GOOD LUCK and Hang in there.
Avatar f tn can you take lortab with clomid?my foot doc put me on lortab and my obgyn put me on clomid will lortab mess with clomid are will clomid still work?
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.
Avatar n tn I am 20 weeks pregnant with a healthy little girl (had CVS and level II ultrasound.) Everything looks great. My OB has prescribed lortab for migraines and a neck dystonia (which was previously treated with Botox - but not now due to the pregnancy.) My question is at low levels of lortab -- less than 10Mg a day (and some days with nothing) would it be safe to assume that the chances of withdrawl or low? Should I stop taking completely a month before due date?
Avatar f tn I always ache, and I have bad migraines. I just detoxed off of Lortab, and I never want to go back on narcotics again.
Avatar f tn Well as much as I respect others opinions I wouldnt trade-in his lortab addiction for another(like suboxine, methadone, subutex etc).He gets them from.a Dr?If he has a Dr can See U GO WITH HIM.They can give him a few things to help like clonidine(helps a lot),a light benzo,if he NEEDS to taper they will give him a plan(how many is he taking?c/t is an option too and I did it from150mg lortab a day. When u taper Its like slowly w/d and he hes prolonging the real detox.
Avatar f tn I have been taking vicodin, lortab, and percocet (not all at once) throughout my pregnancy with the supervision of my Dr. for a very painful neurological disorder. My Dr's have told me that their only concern is that if we cannot get me off these pills (by weaning) by the time that the baby is born that the baby could face withdrawls.
