Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin dosing guide

neurontin

382218 tn?1341181487 I've asked this same question before about Neurontin, and now wondering the same thing about Lyrica, specifically, is it preferable to divide dosing twice or 3x daily? I am taking 150mg morning and again at night. I am wondering if anyone has better effect from taking this med morning, afternoon and night? BTW, so far, it seems to be working better than Neurontin. I am still weaning off Neurontin and down to 300mg 3x per day (down from 3600mg daily).
Avatar f tn I saw a Neurologist on Monday, a Physiologist on Tuesday. Together between these doctors we have developed a plan to treat me & to continue trying to find out what's wrong. I finally feel like I'm being treated, and someone wants to find the cause. The physiologist is great. I was put on Neurontin & Darvocet for the pain. I've taken darvocent before, so I know how it affects me - no problems there.
475300 tn?1312423126 I have had bad withdrawal symptoms from coming off of them too fast. I am not trying to scare you, but I would do your best to keep to your dosing schedule. If you plan to come off of them talk to your doctor. He or she will help you plan a cessation program. Usually it's anywhere from 300mg decreases per week to 100mg decreases per every three days towards the end in order to avoid side effects. Good luck.
Avatar n tn But if you still have anxiety maybe you should switch to klonopin, that what I did. 1200mg neurontin 1mg klonopin 20 mg lexapro, every morning and 600mg neurontin and 1mg klonopin in the eve. Neurontin has shown to be a mood stabilizer and good for anxiety. It helps...
Avatar f tn Hi j503, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have found this Forum. I nedd to let you know taht there are NO Doctors on this Forum ONLY CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with their own expertise and experience that they have gained from their own Pain issues. I'm sorry that you aren't getting any relief from your Neurontin.
Avatar n tn 1 of 3 posts to this question for the experts: I've been taking about 6 Percocet 7.5's &/or Hydrocodone 7.5-10mg 5x's a day for 4 months now for chronic pain. I'm all out & can't get any filled till 3-3 & would like to try my Neurontin 600mg tid to help with the opiate w/d symptoms. I can go get my Rx for Neurontin this am & only have one 7.5 Percocet left. Planning to take 1/2 now & 1/2 at 10am.
1207048 tn?1282174304 Neurontin has a huge dosing range with the maximum recommended dose being 3600mg per day. Most people feel relief by 1800mg per day or so. I would have to look it up to see if it works by establishing a level that must be maintained. If that is correct, then once a day would not likely be effective. I suggest you discuss this with your pharmacist. It truly sounds like he is using it as a sleep aid for the discomfort.
Avatar f tn Tylenol is fine, personally I'd make a point of not taking it more than a couple days in a row before trying to see a doctor, but I'm a bit of a worrier when it comes to medicine and baby.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone on here that would be able to answer a few questions for me regarding Neurontin? I did read a few of the older posts and articles on here which actually lead me to have more questions. I'm kind of wondering if maybe I am under dosed based on what I have read. (I have had this issue with other meds with my neuro). I also have some questions regarding missed doses and I can't seem to find any clear answers in the literature. Thanks.
382218 tn?1341181487 Having to sleep and get up at precise times and plan your life around this is horrible, and in my opinion should be avoided if at all possible. Neurontin is not the only act in town and you're already on a high dose. Do you think it's helping at all? And does it seem to wear off at or before the times you normally would take it? There are a lot of pain meds out there. Most people with neuropathic pain are now on Lyrica, which is sort of Son of Neurontin.
Avatar f tn Hi, If I don't stay on a schedule for pain medications does that then mean that I will wind up in more pain or behind the pain for some period of time? I have just been switched up on pain meds and I have noticed that if I don't take the pain medication within a 4 to 5 hour window I wind up with extreme pain and it can take me most of the day to get back to the point where I can handle the pain. I don't know if this is just me or if something else is going on.
Avatar f tn I had been on different preventative meds for headaches (nortryptyline, depakote, lyrica, topomax) for 5 yrs but stopped due to side effects. I have not tried neurontin and was prescribed this by my family physician. I am nervous about taking it because I really experience side effects from anti-serizure drugs. Is this a good drugs for my problems? Can you suggest anything else I could do? A Pain Management dr that I went to suggested facet joint injections.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with secondary autoimmune adrenal insufficiency in December. I feel lousy most of the time, have chronic abdominal pain and abnormal stools, and feel best flat on my back...which doesn't work well for someone who works 12 hour shifts in a busy ER while selling one house, building another, and has 2 teens and a disabled husband, lol. Here's my question. If a person has say diabetes, their meds are based on their blood sugars.
620877 tn?1282764097 For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....
1507581 tn?1289840065 t need them everyday that it would be easier than someone who takes x amount everyday? Im doing good dosing myself off the suboxone but this is sooo much harder b/c i literally count down the days til i get a refill. So I can get a little buzz. Also i really don't need neurontin but a doc. put me on it 4 back pain and i take 2-3 800 mg. a day. I want to quit these also but it's not my 1st concern b/c there not narcotic.
Avatar f tn I take Wellbutrin XL 300 mg once a day and Tramadol 50 mg. every six hours. I have not noticed any side effects at all using these two together. Also don't notice any difference in pain. Now I'm also taking Neurontin and Naproxen on top of it....now I have some side effects! Take care and I hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn Call your local pharmacist. We at MedHelp are not allowed to give out dosing instructions. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you exactly how to dose the medications. If your regular pharmacy is closed on Sunday, call any pharmacist availabe at your local grocery store or drug store such as Walgreens, CVS, or RiteAid.
Avatar f tn t know how to take them (dosage-wise) for something like that. If anyone can give me any help about this neurontin or anything else PLEASE PLEASE private message me, I need all of the friends and encouragement I can get...my husband just regrets my addiction and I get no support. Thank you.
352007 tn?1372857881 Stinky for the insurance company to not approve the three times weekly dosing - it has been proven and for right now it is absolutely the same cost as the daily copaxone. TEVA set it up that way to be able to switch patients to the new dosing - too bad your insurance balks at that and perhaps your neurologist needs to be more assertive. Seriously, i am sorry you have MS but we figured that for quite some time.
Avatar f tn Anyone have any side effects from starting neurontin or suggestions on how to adapt to using it. It's kicking my butt so far, so only taking it at night but a bit zoozy in the mornings. Am on 300mg, have titration orders but don't want to add any more at the present until I adjust to this night dose. anyone?
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to know anything based on what you posted. First, lab ranges even for the different labs in the US differ so without ranges - have no idea if you are low, high or normal. Second - no idea if you are sick or how you are sick. The tests run are not really run for adrenal except DHEA (and that is really more of an adrogen - e.g. it converts to testosterone and estrogen) so not sure why it belongs in this forum.
Avatar n tn now i am in 3rd month amenotic fluid is low.
