You must consult your neurologist to change your medications since both of these can cause swelling and you have swelling in both the legs. If the swelling persists despite stopping the drugs, you must be investigated for deep vein thrombosis. Hope this helps. Take care.

Besides Lyrica and Neurontin, what other pain med is really out there for Fibromyalgia? I have taken both. Loved the Lyrica. I had no pain but the side effects were terrible, including the two broken toes. My GP put me on Neurontin and I am up to 600mg as of last Friday. One 300mg in the morning and one of the same at bedtime. I still have pain but not quite as bad but u know it's still there. I have some side effects from it, too, especially legs and ankles swelling daily.

When the spasms are bad the swelling gets bigger and turns a blue-black, when the spasms subside the swelling shrinks and the skin returns to a normal colour. I am on Neurontin for the pain, which does nothing. Hope someone can help.

Well, not realizing this was an allergic reaction, I kept taking it. I woke today with huge swelling in my lower lip and it felt like it was spreading (tingling) down to my chin. I called the pharmacy and they told me to stop taking it (duh) and take benadryl (bigger duh on my part).. within hours the swelling has gone down to almost nothing but still have tingling on my tongue and in my mouth... I will probably take another dose of Benadryl soon...

Hi, the best thing that I can tell you is that neurontin works much the same as lyrica and it does not cause weight gain. I have been on neurontin for about 4 years now and when lyrica came out I talked to my son about it. he is a pharmacist and knowing how I do not like to jump onto a new drug he told me that the neurontin is so similar to lyrica that I should just stay on that drug. every time that I went on a new drug It ended up being pulled off the market.

I was diagnosed with blood clots in my right calf in May andhave been on Warfarin. My levels are 1.9-1.6 and I was getting better. The swelling stopped about 10 days ago. 3 days ago the swelling came back and is worse than ever. Now I am having a buning stabbing pain in my thigh in the front and it hurts very badly especially when I try to walk. My dr. said it can not be a clot because I am on the warfarin but I am very scared.

Neurontin did help pain but sleepiness never left when on max dose. It did cause me to have vivid & weird dreams in am. Was switched to Lyrica but had side effect of swelling feet and concrete calves. Had to come off that all. Calves and swelling got better but after 2 years vivid dreams still bothering me. Dr said I am "medicine sensitive" and dreams are prob. permneant now. Good luck. Hope meds work for you.

A total shot in the dark here. I'm a 54-year old female. I took neurontin for five years, and lost what little libido I had during that period. About the time I quit taking Neurontin I began taking omega-3 supplements and my libido came roaring back. Apparently omega-3 helps build testosterone which helps the libido.

About 6 months ago my PCP scripted me Neurontin to help combat my sciatica pain and it worked wonders! I mean it took my sciatica pain from an 8-9 to a 3-4! After 1 week on this new miracle drug, my left ankle and foot began to swell, turn bright red and burn quite intensely. My PCP advised me to stop medication immediately. One week later, all was back to normal. I was referred to and saw a Pain Management doc this past Wednesday (Feb. 15).

I take Wellbutrin XL 300 mg once a day and Tramadol 50 mg. every six hours. I have not noticed any side effects at all using these two together. Also don't notice any difference in pain. Now I'm also taking Neurontin and Naproxen on top of it....now I have some side effects! Take care and I hope you feel better.

I tried Lyrica, to see if it would work better, but it made me feel really stupid and spacy and I did gain weight with it. Went back to gabapentin (Neurontin) and all is fine. I only take 900 mg day, sometimes 1000 so am on a small dose, but it does the trick for nerve pain.

t think there would be a problem but I am not a dr. I also take neurontin and had to stop it cause of the swelling and weight gain. I put on 25lbs in the last 5 months from that stuff so I won't take it ever again.

My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.

I still am experiencing facial swelling and full feeling in my ear and under my chin, in the lymph area. I am getting desperate to resolve this. I did NOT have these symptons prior to the tooth extraction. Any help you could be would be greatly appreciated.

Without medication id rate it 10/10. I take neurontin, paracetamol and verapamil. The verapamil is a drug my neurologist has put me as the neurontin+paracetamol is not enough. Verapamil is used to hold off the onset of migraines and it has helped slightly. Had a medical breakthrough in the past couple of days.. In late October 2007 I had cataract surgery on my right eye and in follow-up exams my doctor ran tests & stated there was swelling around the optic nerve in that eye (if I understood him correctly) and in mid-November injected some type of steroid into the eye socket. I went back about two weeks later (after faithfully using the Acular drops) and there was still swelling & I had a second injection in late November.

I just left things as is and the lymph node swelling went down to where I actually had to search just to find it.
