Neurontin and hearing loss

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and hearing loss

neurontin

Avatar f tn I was put on steroids, acyclovir, and Neurontin. I have been on these meds for four days and my hearing loss does not seem to be getting any better. In fact it seems to be worse. Also, the facial numbness comes and goes. Today I feel the numbness has gone to the right side of my face. I had a CT scan in the emergency room and they say that it was clear. I do not have any facial drooping but as stated above I do have hearing loss, facial numbness and occasional ear pain.
1036706 tn?1252827906 Omg!! you know what?....I have noticed hair loss, and i take Neurontin too. I started noticing that I didn't want to put my hair in a pony cause I was getting a forehead like Tyra Banks !!....no offense tyra, but I wasn't born with a monster forehead. I was thinking it could be that or the fact i hadn't cut my hair in 4 years....hmm? Now I did read that it is a side effect of Neurontin, but if you are shedding like a cat, that's not good, and i would talk to your doctor.
1855076 tn?1337115303 s police department FB page that they had a list of drugs that are being abused and some arrests have been made and Neurontin has been included. Just never really see much about it and heard that it really is great for some people for nerve pain. (I believe it was originally an anti-seizure medication.
Avatar f tn The doc said my ears were clear and to just pinch my nose closed and blow to try and relieve the pressure. I would that and if it doesn't help or it hurts really bad then go in. Doesn't hurt to have your ears checked.
1485372 tn?1359545131 We went to a doctor and was given steroids. He went to 3 doctors and each time given steroids. He has no hearing in that ear. The ear drum is not damaged. Because it was so sudden, they say it must be a virus. Is there no hope of regaining the hearing?
Avatar m tn high and low pitched ringing, aching, stabbing pains, crackling, fullness, internal twitching, pulsatile tinnitus, and episodic hearing loss - usually only for a few seconds at a time. But with this fever spell the vertigo, loss of balance and powerful muscle spasms all made a come back as well. I can tell when the fever is climbing because my face starts feeling warm and flushed.
Avatar m tn i have been suffering from dampened/muffled hearing in my left ear on and off for about 2 years now. sometimes im fine, but when the flare ups occur its miserable. i also find that wheni grab my ear and pull back, my hearing seems to be perfectly fine, however when i let go or leave it alone it dampens. sometimes it gets to where i can basically hear nothing out of it and it feels like just pressure in my ear with the dampened hearing.
Avatar f tn I'm trying to treat hearing loss from antibiotics. how can you know if the hearing loss is autoimmune? can a immunologist help with that?
Avatar m tn In the end, if your hearing loss is permanent, and if there is some residual hearing left, a hearing aid can be worn, to help you hear better, and it will diminish the tinnitus. That said, hearing aids are not a cure for either tinnitus or hearing loss. One more note, I hope they use contrast with the MRI, other wise the MRI will have little diagnostic value.
1253197 tn?1331209110 My hearing loss and tinnitus comes and goes so would a digital hearing aid help? Would be interested in other people's experiences but for me most of the time is feels as if I have water in one ear and as a singer this is very frustrating as I cannot always myself sing properly. Off to see newe MS Consultant on Friday so am looking forward to this and hopefully will discuss DMT.
Avatar n tn My doctor perscribes hydrocodone-Acetiminophen 5-500 for my severe neck tension and I take 1-1/2 almost every night. Never more than that. But, I noticed hearing seems to be dimmer in my left ear. Did research on hearing loss with this drug and now I'm scared to death. I want OFF! Can my hearing be reversed when I get this out of my system?
Avatar m tn The ent I went to ordered an MRI and called to tell me that it showed nothing and just blew me off! He obviously is not taking my situation seriously. My sudden hearing loss was acute 2days ago, but then suddenly was 99 percent better when I awoke yesterday! Now again today I am almost completely deaf in the left ear. This intermittant hearing loss is puzzeling and confusing. I also feel a building pressure and tinitis, which I've had for months. I don't have any dizziness.
138239 tn?1239924924 difference, but this year she has had a 5 dcb. additional loss. We had her hearing checked twice, by two accredited audiologists and both have shown the same results. The 1st audiologist was very concerned, the other seemed like it was a normal occurrence. She does have her hearing checked about every 12 to 18 months. Should we be concerned about this sudden change after all this years?
Avatar m tn I mostly ask this question because music is a very important part of my life, i focus most of my time around musical activitys, im very concerned if working in a call center may damage my hearing and if that tinnitus is a sign of this. I get other symptoms, like sometimes my ears hurt, or i hear a popping sound and also i feel like theres water inside.
Avatar m tn He declared that it might be a case that i am having such problem of my hearing loss in my left year since my childhood and told me that it is a problem in my ear nerve which is not curable never in future. It will remain same. Since then i have prescribed 2-3 doctors but all have the same views. I am 23 year old now and i haven't found any improvement in my hearing in left year.
Avatar n tn Two years ago I had my hearing tested by an ENT. He said I had 40% hearing loss and that it was probably genetic and I should check into hearing aids. I told him I can hear perfect after yawning but it only lasts for a few minutes. He said a lot of people say that. I feel like my hearing has gotten even worse since then. I bet I have 50% hearing loss now. Also I have noticed that after physical exertion I can barely hear at all. Sometimes to the point of total deafness.
Avatar f tn My daughter has hearing loss recently with her lyme the dizziness is always Its been a year on antibiotics should she have a mri for all the time that passed with the head pain as well
Avatar m tn For approximately 1 month I have been experiencing a partial loss of hearing in my right ear. It feels to me like a blockage of some kind. I am not experiencing any pain or discomfort just this sense that my ear is blocked. Sometimes I can tilt my head to a certain angle and sound will come through normal. When I move my head I can hear crackling, squishy sounds in my right ear.Today I went to an Ear,Nose & Throat specialist.
645800 tn?1466860955 The main times it will itch is shortly after I put in my hearing aids, and when I lay down on my left side. Almost like if I cut off the air to it is when it starts to itch. I have also noticed that the ear canal will feel wet and slippery during the itchy periods.
Avatar m tn After cold of 3-4 days, I observed problem of low hearing especially while chewing or eating food. Overall I feel hearing loss but while eating food, I can’t hear voice of person sitting next to me or television’s voice. As soon as chewing has finished voice is audible. Can someone suggest any solution for this problem?
Avatar n tn Your symptoms, the tingling, pain and fatigue , sound like they could be indicative of any number of conditions, including neurological diseases incl. MS. Did this neuro tell you that the negative EMG and lumbar MRI "ruled out" MS specifically? I ask, because neither of these tests are used to diagnose MS.
Avatar f tn You had better see your doctor and ask them to do a screening hearing test in their office to see if your hearing loss is due to a Eustachian-tube problem (which can be a result of the cold) or possibly a sensorineural (inner-ear) hearing loss. A virus can attack the inner ear and cause permanent hearing loss. This is best treated immediately. Your PCP should be able to do a kind of rough hearing test with a tuning fork in their office.
Avatar f tn d had a normal MRI looking for acoustic neuroma (after my sudden one-sided hearing loss). And lo and behold, my ABR was very abnormal, on both sides, not just the hearing-loss side. He called it "cranial neuropathy." Also, one of the tests the audiologists may do is acoustic reflex testing, which can also find a "retrocochlear" problem. I had abnormal acoustic reflex decay. That stuff is a bit complicated.
