1036706 tn?1252827906 Has anyone noticed hair loss?? I am shedding like a cat!! Also i think i may be totally ADDICTED to this ****! I take 20mg 3xday. I also take neurontin for the pain as well. I also suffer from severe depression & anxiety. I take meds for that and I cant sleep without Ambien. So I feel like I am doomed in the worst way! Can anyone give me a shout with some advice???
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar f tn Hi, I started many years ago (about 10) with 300mg of Neurontin 3x a day for PN. I now take 1800mg per day, 300mg with breakfast, 600 in early afternoon of the generic gabapentin, after driving is done for the day (am retired), 300mg. at dinner, 600mg at bedtime. This does not relieve all pain, but makes it possible to function somewhat and sleep at night. Weight loss is really hard, my thinking is slow, too much "foot-time" near bedtime still causes too much pain for sleeping.
9246447 tn?1402597019 I am a 25 year old female with some issues. I have been unable to eat more than 500 calories in a day for the past 4 days. If I eat more than that I get nausea and vomit. I have lost 6 lbs in the past 2 to 3 days and it still continues. I also have chronic fatigue. I am tired all the time. Not sure if it's related to the loss of appetite but it could be. I also have headache's, probably from loss of appetite, and dizzy spells.
Avatar f tn My doctor is starting me on Neurontin. Has anyone had any luck with it or had any side effects?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for answering. My doc is out of town this week. Seems I always need her when she is off playing. I did talk to an on call doc, who doesn't know me, and two pharmacists who also don"t know me and got three different answers!!! I can only conclude that I should not need medical help during the holidays!! :) Why is it docs don't let you know about the weight gain associated with drugs until after the fact?
1637739 tn?1371688706 Re: meds and weight gain, I'm on 3600mg of Neurontin per day and it hasn't caused increased appetite or weight gain. Lyrica did - it stimulated my appetite and I ate like a pig and had to stop it. Amitriptyline did cause some weight gain initially, between 5 - 20 lbs but after a while it eased off. The first few doses of Cesamet also made me really hungry but that seems to have stopped, and I only take it on nights when my pain is really bad.
420308 tn?1203041262 Has anyone had any success with losing weight while on these antidepressants? Has anyone tried Metformin for weight loss?
1283286 tn?1312911966 Lyrica is semiliar to Neurontin; it supposedly should help the nerves calming down. Neurontin has the property to stop the nerves "shooting off" with other words, for nerve pains. But both pills have the "nice side effect" among many others, "to gain weight." I saw my friend who was on a high dosis Neurontin after 1 1/2 year and could not recognize her anymore. She was looking like in a 7th month pregnant; but I know for sure, she is a very small eater.
459075 tn?1224121598 vomiting; weight gain. Severe side effects of neurontin include behavioral problems and suicidal thoughts, chest pain; confusion; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; severe headache or dizziness; shortness of breath and memory loss. Can you identify some of these? I feel that you should talk to your doctor regarding decreasing the dose of neurontin or shifting to some other pain killer.Pls don’t stop neurontin on your own as the dose has to be tapered first and then stoppage is done.
Avatar n tn Is there any research showing a loss of libido for men taking anti-seizure meds for epilepsy? Specifically neurontin or dilantan. If so, are there any treatments or suggested alternatives? Tks, concerned wife.
Avatar f tn When you're dealing with ACs like Depakote and Neurontin, the weight gain can be attributed to the increase in appetite and not necessarily metabolic issue. I had a shrink that wouldn't give me Neurontin, even though it's a GREAT mood stabilizer for me because he felt the weight gain was going to be an issue. I am on a good size dose of it now and have actually lost 60lbs. It does boost my appetite, but I just adhere to the 'put the fork down' diet.
974371 tn?1424653129 None of these doctors can figure out what is wrong with me and I just continue to get worse daily and little appetite and losing weight. I have had many tests done.
Avatar f tn So I had my semi-annual neuro appt. last week. She is upping my Neurontin again. I started at 300mg and went to 600mg and now I am going up to 900mg. I hope that it along with my muscle relaxer, I start seeing some positive results. I have had some crazy muscle twitches/spasms and nerve pain in my legs for the past several weeks. I'm hoping that the med adjustment does the trick! I feel mostly 1/2 way decent these days except my fatigue has been pretty bad the past few weeks or so.
Avatar f tn ve never taken Lyrica but I have taken Neurontin and their similar and everybody has a problem with weight gain, its not just you. Tell that Doctor you need help, if he won't help you, find another one.
Avatar f tn If your husband changes his lifestyle - eating a proper diabetic nutrition, weight loss, and exercise daily - he has a decent chance. If not, he surely will lose and by lose I mean amputation of a limb - an arm, a leg or both. Then what? One thing for sure he needs to do is stop patronizing 7-11. Aside from plain bottled water there is absolutely nothing 7-11 sells that is healthy, especially to a diabetic. Cannot one of you pack a lunch with healthy snacks which he can take with him?
3054791 tn?1360007908 Symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency are numerous but include affected nervous system [pain, numbness, tingling, weak muscles...], fatigue and weight loss. You mention your platelets are smaller than normal and MPV [mean platelet volume] is lower than predicted when thrombocytopenia is caused by megablastic anaemia or bone marrow failure. Megaloblastic anemia is usually caused by a deficiency of folic acid or vitamin B12. This is one possibility to check out.
675329 tn?1297288378 since this is an opiate will i become addicted i also take neurontin 100 but it puts weight on me. I also take serequel 100 wellbutrin 300 carafate 1 gm 4x day restasis twice day crestor 10.
Avatar f tn And btw, keep in mind while you read this, i was a lawyer -- at a big firm -- trying to practice law while this was all happening. You can imagine what it did to my career. Anyway, I was put on a massive dose of Neurontin and seemed ok at first (started smaller, gradually added more and more). at first i didn't notice much...maybe a little dippy and klutzy.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the responses. I will check out the Pain Management Forum. Just my luck that neurontin makes you gain weight. My mobility is limited right now and I've gone from going to the gym 5 days a week to walking for 10 minutes at a time. Any time a medicine has a weight gain side affect . . . I GAIN!!!! Thanks again . . .
