neurontin hair loss

Has anyone noticed hair loss?? I am shedding like a cat!! Also i think i may be totally ADDICTED to this ****! I take 20mg 3xday. I also take neurontin for the pain as well. I also suffer from severe depression & anxiety. I take meds for that and I cant sleep without Ambien. So I feel like I am doomed in the worst way! Can anyone give me a shout with some advice???

Gained 40 lbs within in 6 months of starting Neurontin. Started losing hair when began Neurontin. Fortunately I had lots of hair to start with but 8 years later, I will soon have to wear a wig because of the dramatic hair loss. Also frustrated that cannot get the 40 pounds off either. Do you have any suggestions for other meds or treatments for nerve pain? Failed Lyrica and depression meds did not touch nerve pain. Physical therapy, tens, muscle stim made nerve pain worse.

I believe refers to barbituates....not sure. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that hair loss is another side effect of Neurontin! So, that is why you lost some hair. I am a little worried about your heart jumping around...if you gained weight from the Neurontin, another side effect, once it comes off, hopefully your heart thing will stop.

For me it helped because Neurontin started to cause me bad hair loss and awful fluid retention and thus weight gain and made my whole body heat up like it was being cooked from the inside out.But yes I still loved the way it made me feel.I would mess up constantly and get down on myself but just expect that you will mess up sometimes but dont wallow too long and try to get right back on track.

Is there any research showing a loss of libido for men taking anti-seizure meds for epilepsy? Specifically neurontin or dilantan. If so, are there any treatments or suggested alternatives? Tks, concerned wife.

I have been having this strange pain just in the center of my head, i cant touch the top of my head or just the wind blowing tru my hair causes pain,doctors just keep putting me on pain meds which nothing works and i have to keep my hair like a boy really short just not to comb it ,can anyone please help me here.

Thankfully, I had a lot of hair to begin with and the loss was all over, so no big bald spots. I do take Biotin now to try & increase my hair growth, but I think it’s only helping me to retain what I have left. Keep in mind, this side effect is more widespread than “officially” reported, can start after being on Topamax for months, even a year or two, & it’s almost 100% permanent.

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!

Especially after combing my hair,there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.

I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. But, every few years my thyroid just burns out, and I go hypo. When I do I experience extreme hair loss and brittle nails. For me, the animal based thyroid substitutes work much better when I'm in a hypo phase. Additionally, sometimes when I am not hypo, the medication I take for my Graves' just knocks down my T4/T3 levels so low that once again I start to lose a lot of hair.

How that I am on thyroid medication, since Sept.2007, I continue to have hair loss and have lost 1/2 my hair. 1/8 off my hair in the last 3 months. Is there any way I can stop the hair loss. I am using Levothyroxin 25 and one possible side effect is hair loss, my interist is sending me to a skin doctor in over a month.
