Common Questions and Answers about Namenda titration

namenda

Avatar n tn my husband just started on Namenda, starter doses, however, while I was at work today, he took 3 of the pills(5mg), should I be concerned? do I just have him continue tomorrow with the correct one pill in the morning? doesn''t seem to have any side effects.
20003388 tn?1515166040 I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. I was put on Namenda by a neurologist after a thorough examination. I expect the brain fog from starting Namenda up but am just trying to get a time frame for when I could expect the initial brain fog to wear off. Thanks everyone.
1030383 tn?1338460785 As for treating tardive, standard options include Bachofen, Aricept, Requip and Mirapex. More experimental options include Namenda, Tetrabenzene and Zofran. Vimpat has been helpful in me and will be written up in a case study but that's a clinical first literally. One natural remedy that if supervised by a neurologist can be markedly helpful is rhodiola. Botox shots for focal dystonia are helpful if it is limited to one area.
Avatar f tn My neighbors doctor prescribed fluoxetine and namenda before MRI being done.test came back no signs of alzheimers disease. Should she continue to take ? She is 80 years old somewhat forgetful nothing to make you say you can't function she is 80.
Avatar n tn He is on Namenda and Plavix, is it possible that Adderall could help with his short term memory loss. Before the accident he lived on his own.
Avatar n tn What could be causing me to have all of them. I am under pretty good control as I take neurontin and namenda. Before I was put on namenda i was having rhizotomies almost every three months due to the excruciating pain.
Avatar n tn I read your post to me about how you don't like block/replace therapy, and that you like MMI titration, what is that? HOw do you keep your patients from going hypo thyroid on only ATD's? and if they do go hypo, how do you help them if you don't use replacement? Also, does using ATD's burn out your thyroid? and does replacement burn out your thyroid? Do you consider 5mg of MMI to be a high dose of ATD?
437079 tn?1222438840 Can anyone tell me what is a Oxygen Titration test is about I will be having this tes on 4/9/08. It kinda scare me a little bit. What will they be doing for me doing this Titration.
Avatar f tn I, like many of you, take handfuls of drugs just to live thru the day and suffer side effects from the drugs is just as debilitating as the pain. My doctor allowed me to try Namenda, which is a alzheimer drug that works by calming overactive neurons in the brain. There has been studies to see if it helped chronic pain and most of them showed it did not. I wanted to try it for myself and she allowed me too. My shrink also thought it was a good idea to try.
585414 tn?1288941302 Yes I am somewhat familiar with that. For example Namenda which is used to treat dementia is in clinical study as a mood stabilizer and to treat tardive dyskinesia. However as those medications specifically effect those receptors by mitigating their activity they work in an opposite manner to glycine and the NMDA receptor modulates.
Avatar f tn com/namenda-side-effects-drug-center.htm What dose is she on? Maybe adjusting her dose will decrease the dizziness. Talk to her doctor.
1673169 tn?1316541930 From what my psychiatrist told me when I was transfering from Tegretol (and other mood stabilizers that are anti-convulsants) to another medication that if the titration schedule is followed seizures are generally not a concern but you could speak to your psychiatrist more about this.
Avatar n tn Hi Margypops, Axona is a brand-new prescription therapy launched in March 2009 for the treatment of mild-moderate Alzheimer's disease. As Alzheimer's is marked by a decrease in glucose in the brain (the primary source of food for the brain), Axona acts by providing/metabolizing glucose in the body to act as an alternate source of food for the brain.
Avatar n tn my grandfather wantws to put her on namenda,we tried it for a few weeks, but I saw3 her only become more hostile!! do you think a person at her age is really going to benefit from namenda at this stage?
534633 tn?1214564081 Can/will ANYONE give me an understandable titration formula so when I do run out of pills, I will not seize...this what I am most trrifed of. I have never ad one but that does not mean I won't. I've worked through my panic and PTSD and want off ofthis medicine. Someone?
Avatar m tn I am a healthcare professional and can not afford to seek professional help as it may compromise my job. Please let me know if titration is an effective way to come down. My thoughts are to decrease my dose every three days as follows: -Currently taking 4, 10 mg-325 acetaminophen at 5-6 pm and 4 more (same concentration) around bed time.
Avatar f tn She did a mini neuro/cognitive eval and said this may be something more than MS. Now she has prescribed Namenda XR for me. I googled it and it says it's for Alzheimers. I do have family that have/had dementia/Alzheimers. Does anyone else with MS take this??? Or do you know anyone with MS that takes it? From what I read, it makes symptoms worse with people who have MS. Sad face...
Avatar n tn My mom's medication regeime has had risperdal added to it. She is alteady on zoloff and the standards for alzeheimer's including namenda. Since putting her on the risperdal she sleeps all the time, has had a to be restarted on blodd pressure medication and seems to be losing her mtor skills. I am very concened about these changes and wonder if the risperdal is the right dosage or medicine.
Avatar n tn First of all his doctor changed and titrated his blood pressure medications and also they found Namenda to be quite helpful.
Avatar f tn 1) If GP agrees to titrate, how soon will the anxiety dissipate? In other words, I want to suggest that we try titration as an experiment for two weeks to see if the anxiety resolves. Is that enough time? 2) In the event GP won't titrate will anxiety eventually resolve? How long does that usually take. I've been back on meds for 4 weeks now. 3) 3 weeks after being increased to 125 mcg I began having extreme difficulty in concentrating.
Avatar m tn What type? What are your thoughts regarding automatic titration vs. setting the titration to a constant setting? Do some people require oral devices in conjunction with CPAP treatment? Thank you for your opinion.
Avatar m tn why because it is longer lasting and can be cut down easier. Now for your decrease thod i suggest water titration. it takes you off im ml by turning the hard pill into a liquid form much easier to theen off in mg. But if you insis on cutting down in pill form here is my SUGGESTION please note that fact. you will have to cut the pill in such small doses to be accurate is gonna be impossible but maybe bearable please you tube water titration.
Avatar n tn I did a fair amount of research prior to my titration and even went so far as to map out my titration schedule on a calendar. My main withdrawal concerns were anxiety, rapid heart beat and insomnia. After a few days of titration when I realized I was not having ANY withdrawal effects I basically stopped "cold turkey." About two weeks, after stopping, I experienced a weird cramping sensation in my hand. Based upon my rigorous physical activity, I assumed I was dehydrated.
666513 tn?1256917455 I have neuropathic pain down my arms, and in my hands and feet. Recently my Doctor gave me a titration pack of Savella to try. Savella is a medication used for the pain associated with Fibromyalgia. I noticed a reduction in the pain, burning and stinging sensation in my feet and hands even at the initial dose after the first few days. I also, bizarrely enough, noticed an improvement in my ability to urinate and empty my bladder.
Avatar m tn Your xPAP pressure can change significantly in a few years, especially if your weight changes. You may need a new titration. Talk to your sleep doctor about your problems.
