Namenda and hallucinations

Common Questions and Answers about Namenda and hallucinations

namenda

20003388 tn?1515166040 I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. I was put on Namenda by a neurologist after a thorough examination. I expect the brain fog from starting Namenda up but am just trying to get a time frame for when I could expect the initial brain fog to wear off. Thanks everyone.
Avatar n tn What could be causing me to have all of them. I am under pretty good control as I take neurontin and namenda. Before I was put on namenda i was having rhizotomies almost every three months due to the excruciating pain.
Avatar n tn No need to worry. I used to teach classes on different Alzheimer's Medical treatments/medicines and know these meds better than the reps that sold them. Namenda is an add on Alzheimer's medication use to help glutamate regulation in the brain. The standard dose in 20mg a day after titration, so taking three 5mg tablets is not a problem.
Avatar f tn My neighbors doctor prescribed fluoxetine and namenda before MRI being done.test came back no signs of alzheimers disease. Should she continue to take ? She is 80 years old somewhat forgetful nothing to make you say you can't function she is 80.

Avatar n tn Hi, My mother has believed for several years that she has scabies. It started about 30-35 years ago when a kid at my grade school (I'm now 42) had scabies and they sent a letter around to the parents regarding what to watch for. At first she'd just talk about the possibility of it. Over the years, it got worse and worse. My mother is now 82 and she firmly believes she has it. She's always been boarderline obsessive compulsive about cleaning, but now its far worse.
Avatar m tn Recently she has been experiencing panic-type attacks and possible hallucinations. The doc says her Synthroid levels are not too high--that was her first thought--but I wonder. Has anyone else experienced hallucinations due to hormone imbalance?
2052200 tn?1332429084 t know if I can help on this. I have Bipolar II and BPD and have had hallucinations but those are usually part of the symptoms. Most the times I'll see something following me around as clear as if it was day but its not. Its not there, just imagined and I know that but its still there. I've seen the faces and felt the being touched, constant shivers. But I've made up my own imaginings to make them rational. The only one that bugs is the auditory.
Avatar f tn For 4 years I have done nearly nothing other than sit on the couch, watch tv, sleep, and surf the internet and for some of that time, attempt to work. Cooking and cleaning were just not ever done. Since taking the namenda, I have been more active - cook and clean some, have left the house more often but still only to grocery shop and get meds refilled. I have done some Xmas shopping this year, last couple of years I did none.
585414 tn?1288941302 In bipolar disorder, sometimes called manic-depressive illness, patients cycle between periods of elation and severe depression, and the depressive phase carries a high risk of suicide. It is commonly treated with mood stabilizers, including lithium, anticonvulsants and some antipsychotics, often in complex combinations. Both mania and depression usually improve on these drugs.
Avatar f tn She took 5mg nightly for 4 days and during that time she still had a headache, but no side effects. On the 5th day the headaches stopped, but now she's constantly nauseous and woozy. This has been going on for 4 days. Is this just a matter of her body adjusting to the drug?

Avatar n tn Hi Margypops, Axona is a brand-new prescription therapy launched in March 2009 for the treatment of mild-moderate Alzheimer's disease. As Alzheimer's is marked by a decrease in glucose in the brain (the primary source of food for the brain), Axona acts by providing/metabolizing glucose in the body to act as an alternate source of food for the brain.
Avatar m tn 1. I take Abilify and Depakote, and sometimes psychoactive drugs have strange, rare side effects. 2. I am a kidney dialysis patient, and the Web tells me a very uncommon condition called dialysis disequilibrium syndrome, experienced during or after the treatments, can involve confusion, cognitive problems, or -- you guessed it -- hallucinations. I would appreciate any feedback or thoughts from readers.
Avatar f tn health anxiety but stress and my nana just passed away on Friday from liver cancer but before she did she kept seeing things little bugs crawling on her and the doctors said it was hallucinations because she was dying.
1564087 tn?1308947518 d have to find out the specifics of your diagnosis as hallucinations can occur in bipolar with psychotic features (and schizoaffective disorder such as I have) and there are many subtypes of bipolar and hallucinations and psychosis can occur in some. If you have concerns about the side effects of Seroquel it would be essential to speak to your psychiatrist and discuss what other medication might not be unsafe to take as regards heart disease.
Avatar n tn I am bipolar type 1 and I see shadows here and there and also hear voices whispers - this is enhanced by pot so I try not to go there any more. I would go to dr and talk with them about what you are seeing.
Avatar n tn my father is 74, highly diabetic, he fell and broke his left hip about 3 years back, a month back he fell again and broke his right hip-bone and right shoulder. He is home after the surgery but very weak and totally bedridden. He on and off speaks non-sanely....but as evening falls, he starts to hallucinate that he has fallen and is lying out in the open or on the terrace of the house and keeps asking to be carried in and gets quite irritated that no one is bringing him in....
Avatar n tn HI,I SMOKED SOME WEED WITH FRIENDS,I AM NOT A SMOKER NORMALLY AND I SMOKED BECAUSE IT WAS MY BDAY AND THEY WHERE SMOKING IT AND DRINKING AT THE SAME TIME,WHEN I WAS IN BED I HAD TERRIBLE HALLUCINATIONS I WAS SEEING PICTURES AND HEARING VOICES AND SOUNDS, I KEPT GETTING UP AND MY HEAD WAS REALLY SPINING,I COULDN'T FALL ASLEEP.SO I SAID TO MY FRIENDS AM NEVER SMOKING THAT THING AGAIN.
Avatar f tn I am learning so much about bipolar and I have found that I have, in fact, been having mild hallucinations my whole life. I have not talked a lot to anyone about it in my family or any of my friends. I'm afraid they will think I'm super crazy and reject me or not let me around their kids because they think I'm dangerous. I just want some insight about how to approach the subject. I really want my loved ones to understand what I'm going through.
Avatar f tn ve been through therapy, etc. and have been hospitalized against my will several times within the last 3 years but the mental health system is a joke where I live. Also, I do not believe in taking psychotropic medicine. I would like to say that I'm doing better depression-wise, no stress or anxiety, not as many mood swings, and don't cut anymore (but the urges are there & i can't be around sharp objects because of the temptation).
403156 tn?1290150018 I have been diagnosed as BP II for almost 3 years and have never experienced hallucinations until now. I feel like I see things in my peripheral vision that are really not there. I have also occasionally heard things as well. Mood wise, I feel very stable. So this is completely alarming. I was put on a medication for a heart arrhythmia and it said a rare side effect was hallucinations - so that is a possible explanation. Does anyone experience this while seemingly stable?
Avatar f tn My theraist siad it was just a symptom at this point and it is probably caused by stress. She told me to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse to tell my mental health care provider... I have an appointment with her on Sept 7th. I'm on Cymbalta 60mg/day in the am, Lamictal200mg/day at bedtime and Trazodone 2 -300 mg/day at bedtime. I'm not sure what to think. I'm not being told to hurt myself or anyone else so I guess I'm ok?
Avatar f tn Im 3 months pregnant and have the strangest things happening. Im hullucinating alot?! Flying objects/ shadows , shoes and other things. 314128 tn?1226857620 This is day 4 and feeling good except for not being able to sleep to save my soul. Last night I could have sworn the clothes in the laudry basket were moving. (Socks crawling over the edge, bathrobe holding up its sleeves to dance -honest to goodness magic mushroom like hallucinations. Could that because I'm dead tired or part of the withdrawals. That has never happened before and really got my attention. Any input?
