Common Questions and Answers about Muscle contractions during running

contractions

Avatar f tn I used to think running meant running forever and at a fast rate like a speed racer. But as long as your heart is pumping, and you don't over-exert your limits, running slower at a longer distance is always your best bet! It burns more calories!
Avatar f tn Yes in the beginning my son would freak out during contractions.
Avatar n tn Stitches are sharp pains like cramps that occur during exercise (particularly running), usually near the ribs, that may cause the runner to stop from running. Avoid eating one to two hours before a workout and maintain hydration. Any workout should be started with a slow warm-up for four to five minutes, followed a very gradual increase in speed. While running, one should take deep breaths. If pain actually starts, stretching, massaging, taking deep breaths may be tried.

Avatar n tn My questions are is it normal to have PVCs during exercise? If my EKG and echo were normal is it ok to continue running? Is there another test that could be done? Could there be something serious that would not show on an EKG and echo? This has been very depressing for me because running is such a passion of mine.
Avatar f tn Also my allergies have been making me cough so badly I think I may have pulled a muscle in my side. Now when I cough it hurts so badly I hold my side. Almost like a stitch in your side from running? Feels very similar. Thoughts?

Avatar f tn My contractions with my daughter were solely felt in my crotch/behind area. It was so weird because I wasn't expecting that. I asked my mom if it was normal and she didn't know what the heck I was talking about. When I asked the doctor they told me it was because my daughter was so low and that was why I felt them where I did.
Avatar f tn Yeah it feels like I pulled a muscle. Its not like a go running on marathons so idk why its happening.
Avatar f tn ve tried lubricant and foreplay, but had no luck with either. You might be involuntarily having muscle contractions because you have begun to anticipate problems with penetration. Women of all ages can experience this from time to time, but the key is to learn how to relax and enjoy yourself. When you try to attempt having sex again, next time have him go very slowly; you will need to be extremely relaxed, and use as much lube as possible...

Avatar n tn Also try doing Kegel exercises daily, as your PC muscle may be weak. This can contribute to the lack of sensation. The PC muscle is the muscle that stretches from under your penis, up the shaft. Think of it as your "orgasm" muslce. It’s also related to the strength of your orgasmic contractions, so if it’s weak or flabby, your orgasms will be weak and flabby too. To strengthen your PC muscle, do Kegel exercises (named for the physician who discovered this clever little muscle).
Avatar f tn A few months ago I started experiencing sharp side pain, sometime a spasm underneath my right ribs while running. I've been a jogger/runner my whole life and this is a new development for me. (female- late 20s) At first I decided to take it easy and run less, but after a few weeks I wanted to get back into running more frequently. I was able to push through some of the pain with hydration, stretching and breathing techniques.
Avatar f tn The pain is so severe that I almost went to the ER, and reminds me of contractions I had during child labor. I can't lay still and have to get up and walk around, then double over in pain as I get each spasm. The doctor today diagnosed me with Reflux and gave me a Pepcid AC perscription. He did schedule an ultra-sound for next week and is running blood tests to rule out gallbadder stones because I was so persistant.
Avatar f tn Good question. I will ask. She did say I have low heart muscle function. I have no idea why I would. I am 45, non-smoking, vegetarian with no family history. I am under a lot of stress, but she indicated stress is not the cause.
4838572 tn?1367706719 If working is causing braxton hicks does that mean its getting close for me to stop working? I'll be 32 weeks on Tuesday but I only get contractions during work or when I get off and lay down I work at a fast food place but its not really strenuous I'm just on my feet and running around a lot.
Avatar m tn All of the sudden, my heart rate goes from 160 after 0-5 minutes of running to 166 after 5-10 minutes of running and hits 177 after 10 minutes of running. I keep up this pace for about 5 minutes and have to stop (nearing 180 bpm) whereas less than 2 months ago I could run 4 miles no problem. I get lightheaded upon standing too fast and have to take cogentin to counteract the muscle stiffness in my legs from the 2 mg. of Trilafon I take per day.
Avatar f tn If pain when running occurs when you are running very hard or increasing your speed, this could be a side stitch, according to Cool Running. If the pain subsides when you slow down, this is another sign your pain could be due to a stitch. However, if your pain is accompanied by other abdominal symptoms, such as nausea, diarrhea or vomiting, this could be a sign of abdominal upset, according to the American College of Gastroenterology.
Avatar f tn What food is beneficial after running? I am losing weight. After running, when can I eat? Thank you!
424634 tn?1277857528 I don't think I'll ever find out a final diagnosis. The cardio dude doesn't seem concerned, ahthough he kept wanting to put me on BP meds 'cause it's always high when I see him, but more or less normal the rest of the time (I have some moments, but like I said, they're here and there). I'm not suppose to go back until next autumn... I'm on a "Call me if anything changes" status.
3138931 tn?1350940318 No bc I've had them all day and none are consistent, and the muscle ripping feeling is staying and not going away :/
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. This muscle contraction or twitches is also called as muscle fasciculation & appears when the muscle contracts on its own (without nerve stimulation). Most of the times these symptoms occur without any underlying disorder & they are not harmful or may appear after anxiety, viral illness or long term illness. But sometimes this muscle twitching appears after hormonal disorder (esp.thyroid) or as atrophy and weakness of muscle as well.
