Common Questions and Answers about Muscle contractions in head

contractions

Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. This muscle contraction or twitches is also called as muscle fasciculation & appears when the muscle contracts on its own (without nerve stimulation). Most of the times these symptoms occur without any underlying disorder & they are not harmful or may appear after anxiety, viral illness or long term illness. But sometimes this muscle twitching appears after hormonal disorder (esp.thyroid) or as atrophy and weakness of muscle as well.
Avatar n tn Re my inquiry March 19th regarding a75 year old female whose head bobbed almost constantly at times, you replied it might indicate Parkinson's Disease and asked if there were any other symtons such as trembling of the hands. Trembling of the hands is not really noticeable but I did observe when she was holding a sheet of paper a slight movement.
163013 tn?1205842762 This could be from an electrolyte imbalance, spinal cord compression in your neck area, a brain tumor, blood vessel issues in your head, or a disease that effects nerve communication...Get this checked out! This is progressing and, if left untreated may lead to something very horrible and irreversible...I'm not trying to scare you....Please, please, please get this checked as soon as possible..
Avatar n tn From your description, it appears to be due to the repeated contractions of the small muscles attached to the ear drum. Called 'myoclonic' contractions. Usually ignored. You may visit the ENT to make sure there is nothing else.
Avatar f tn My 27 year old son has been experiencing severe neck pain, muscle spasms in the neck and arms, and sharp stabbing headache pain which he describes as being like electrical jolts in his head. He has been experiencing most of these symptoms for the past 15 months. The headaches last for days. He was first diagnosed with a bone spur in the neck but the doctor ruled that out. He has gone for steroid injections and physical therapy with short term relief.

Avatar f tn I have had chronic infections since infancy (usually throat, lungs, urinary system. and joint and muscle pain since 8 years of age. Pain seems to come in "flares", muscle pain is burning and aching, joint pain is aching. Currently also having frequent muscle contractions and facial twitching and tremors in hands. Slurred speech and memory problems occasionally.
Avatar m tn During a recent sexual encounter I experienced some pain in my penis (at the end of the shaft, just underneath the head) due to the extreme muscular contractions made by my partner. Similar pain returns again when I become extremely erect, but only when extremely erect - not just partly erect or not erect at all. The pain is internal like a muscle strain or damage and not a skin irritation in any way, which would explain why this only happens when I become very erect.
Avatar f tn You will definitely know when you're feeling contractions. I've been in active labor multiple times these past weeks. (I'm 39 weeks) and my dr. Has been giving a shot to stop my labor unfortunately. I mostly felt A LOT of pressure in my bottom, followed my sharp pains in my vagina. My baby girl loves to kick and jab me during contractions. Your entire tummy will tighten, and you will feel he/she kind of head butting you if they're in a downward position already.

Avatar f tn ) also try a bath. You can tear a muscle with doing anything. How far along are you?
Avatar f tn head pain due to neck muscle tightness or stiffness. In that case, maybe lying down would trigger the muscle strain, leading to headache when you lie down. Cervicogenic headache is diagnosed by clinical information (there is no specific test to diagnose it) and is treated with anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, physical therapy and other techniques. If you have not yet been evaluated by a headache specialist (a neurologist specialized in headache medicine) this would be of benefit to you.
Avatar f tn The other possible cause could be multiple sclerosis and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs.

Avatar f tn I'm a FTM so I don't really know what to look for. I just know that all day I've been going thru something much different than usual aches and pains. It started with tightening sensations in my the upper part of my stomach. (The only thing I can compare the feeling to is to compare it to the little electronic muscle stimulators they use in physical therapy after injuries) It's not really painful but surely uncomfortable ...
11970398 tn?1443134602 They dont hurt or anything:/ im wondering if its not just the baby moving weird
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 33weeks 3 days and went to the Dr yesterday due to not feeling the baby moving as much as he usually does. Thankfully everything turned out great and he is still healthy. However in the ultrasound he's already face up, head down and really low. He's also taking deep breaths already. The midwife kept asking if I was sure I wasn't feeling contractions. I haven't had any or any Braxton hicks. She said he can be coming real soon. Has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar f tn 4 cm dilated contractions back to back and 90% effaced. But doctor says if I don't make dilation progress in two hrs she may discharge me and send me home to get "rest". My contractions are crazy strong and 2-3 min apart what rest could I possibly get at home ?!!!
Avatar n tn Hey, 16 year old male. Occasionally i get quick muscle contractions and relaxations under my skin on my foot. Sort of like heartbeats. No pain or anything and would go away after rubbing it. Is this something that i should be worried about?
