Common Questions and Answers about Multiple choice cardiac angiogram quiz

angiogram

Avatar n tn They admitted me and did an echocariogram and later, an angiogram, which showed no problems with any of the vessels. The cardiologist did say that my heart went into a spasm during the test. Needless to say, they released me this morning and prescribed lopressor, norvasc, protonix, and simvastatin and 325 mg of ecotrin a day. I need to go back to the cardiologist in two weeks, but I'm kind of clueless as to what happened with me. I'm 48 and I'm an ex-smoker.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago had echo that showed serious issues, ef 40-45 from 55-60 and multiple akinetic areas dr felt certain were from new blockage in an area that had been 50% previously. had cath TODAY and arteries are good, no progression, but there is reduced cardiac function and what amounts to systolic heart failure.
Avatar n tn What do you mean by a cardiac cath? aren't angiogram and cardiac cath the same thing?
Avatar m tn What kind of biopsy? What about an angiogram? Would that be a regular angiogram or would the dr. have to go in the small artery or vessel and how would they know what vessel or artery to go in thru since it's a small artery or vessels.
Avatar m tn I’ve been to several cardiologists for multiple tests. EKG, stress test, nuclear stress test, Holter EKG are all normal. CT angiogram shows no blockages. Calcium score is zero. Blood pressure is fine. Cholesterol is slightly elevated but the “ratio” is fine. Echocardiogram revealed a slight pulmonary valve insufficiency. I am not overweight. I don’t suffer from chronic heartburn (occasional at best).
Avatar f tn Besides echocardiogram, can a cardiac ct angiogram also diagnose CHF? I had an echocardiogram done 2 weeks ago, but didn't get my results yet, but will Monday as well as my holter test. My cardiologist reluctantly did the echo and holter. I'm fatigued and short of breath all the time, except when I'm sleeping. My hr dropped to 61 walking to my kitchen and my o2 sat dropped to 93 for a brief second.
776302 tn?1241091853 The cardiac arrest was probably due to the angiogram. And maybe even the blood clots. Maybe she had a reaction to the dye they used. I don't think laxatives can cause cardiac arrest or blood clots. Maybe vomiting if she took way too much of it. It would just cause diahreah. The doctor who is supposed to do my angiogram is an expert and is famous and renowned. His complication rate is very low, not zero though. I guess I have to call for prayers before I go through this.
776302 tn?1241091853 I just heard about the Seimens Sensation 64 slice CT scanner test as an accurate alternative to the angiogram. It is non-invasive and the angiogram is invasive and may have serious side effects. Is this type of scanner really as accurate as an angiogram? Please let me know.
Avatar f tn Diva is known to me and has multiple issues especially cardiac ones and requires all those meds she mentions. Your signs may be different, and not one single cardiac test will determine the whole picture. And if you don't understand a doctor's evaluation, then go back and ask again. Doctors may appear rushed but it does no good to follow a doctor's advice if you don't understand the advice. A second opinion is always good. It's your health! Joan.
Avatar m tn Has anyone been diagnosed with Cardiac Syndrome X and could you tell me your symptoms? I was told following a stress test that I might have blockage of the small arteries but this was not conclusive. I frequently experience premature heartbeats which are supposedly not serious but definitely annoying and life limiting when they are severe.
Avatar n tn Went to family physician who was concerned and suggested nuclear stress test or CAT angiogram and gave me a choice. He ruled out blood work to look for enzymes. He told me the CAT would require prior insurance approval and recommended nuclear stress test. Like the EKG's I am sure that nothing will show up on the stress test. Should I save the insurance co pays etc and go straight to CAT angiogram? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn First admission to A&E in June showed positive cardiac enzymes. 'Her coronary angiogram did not reveal significant pathology'. Suggested Taku-tsubo syndrome, cardiac MRI scan broadly suggested same. Second admission in July ECG showed new T-wave inversions and cardiac Trop was negative. Interpretation of echocardiogram 'was not suggestive of Takusubo syndrome'. 'Changes consistent with LAD infarct' Third A&E discharge note Sept.
Avatar n tn Does a score of 308 on a cardiac calcium scoring test indicate coronary artery disease?
Avatar f tn surgeon diagnosed a 70% blockage at the main branch of my left anterior descending artery. Upon followup, my cardiologist read the same xray and diagnosed 50% blockage. Second angiogram (2 years later): the surgeon diagnosed 30% blockage in the same area. Third angiogram: surgeon reported that there was no arterial blockage. I have just been discharged from a cardiac unit after 24 hours of observation due to chest pain. I did not have an angiogram.
Avatar m tn What further testing should be done in an asymptomatic patient with a cardiac scoring of 140?
Avatar n tn s a chance that both tests could be giving false positive results. I wondered whether cardiac MRI or cardiac computed tomography are a viable alternative to an angiogram ? Any advice would be appreciated. { I am female, 49.
Avatar f tn The site provides a definition of cat scan calcium score and cat scan angiogram. I had a CC score and angiogram a couple of years ago. I believe the state-of-art for CAT has scans of 256 slices....provides more detail and sharper images. I find the Mayo Clinic, Minn or Cleveland Clinic to be a good source for medical procedures, tests, dx, prognosis, etc.
Avatar f tn Diffuse Soft plaques seen in mid RCA causing moderate narrowing of its LUMEN.Catheter Coronary Angiogram Recommended. No other significant abnormality Now my father is adamant for not having catheter coronary angiogram done. Would 2D Echo - cardiogram with doppler help. He takes walk and has medicines prescribed by cardiac regularly alongwith ayurvedic medicines. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar n tn As the report says, no conclusions can really be drawn from this study. It is too small and it seems to suggest there could be something going on. However, saying that, it's based on cardiac events in a given number of years after treatment/placebo. This is just a ridiculous study. Why not simply cut to the chase and do it properly, and it would only take a few patients. Give an angiogram before chelation, and then one after and see how much the blockages have improved?
Avatar m tn I am 52, I had chest pains a while back, so I had a full workup of my heart 8 years ago, angiogram, echocradiogram etc and everything was normal. The decision to proceed with the angiogram was what I remember was a change or irregularity in an EKG. Recently I had cardiac stress test that was abnormal so now a nuclear stress test was suggested.
Avatar n tn A coronary angiogram by itself is often normal in people with microvascular angina (like Toni Braxton has), but a stress thallium shows perfusion defects and the EKG shows ischaemic changes with exercise because the heart is not perfusing adequately even though the blockage is not in the larger arteries that are seen on angiogram. Also coronary artery spasm can cause real cardiac pain and sometimes occurs in arteries that look normal on angiography.
Avatar f tn Hi I recently suffered an inferior stemi due to a previous cardiac stent becomming tottaly occluded.ive been told that part of my heat is damaged .after looking at my notes I saw that my tropitone level was 5800.what does this mean and is it high?
Avatar m tn Firstly, your cardiologist has taken your pain seriously and investigated appropriately with a nuclear stress test and a coronary angiogram. The second piece of good news is that your coronary angiogram was “clear”, meaning that you do not have any significant narrowings or blockages in your new bypass vessels. I am also pleased to hear that you have attended cardiac rehabilitation and appear to be motivated to continue with regular exercise. So why are you experiencing pain?
