Avatar n tn too much morphine can result in death. I would advise you to call your pharmacist for information - they would be able to give you pharmaceutical information that would clarify this situation. I am sorry for you loss and the experience around it.
210982 tn?1280983895 Yes although dosage and frequency of usage does matter. In my experience morphine, high dosage oxycontin and methadone are the most effective (and the most addicting) pain killers.
1686743 tn?1306005451 For the last year I have been taking15 mg Morphine2 times a day, and 5mg Oxycodone HCI For pain in back and hips, and knee. At this dosage I have been getting some relief.Could one say that I'm chemically dependent. I'm 6 ft tall and 172 lbs. What is the suggested dosage for 61 yr old? I just had surgery in my chest and the pain level is 10 by times 10. they increased the oxy to 10 mg every 4 hrs and the Morphine 3 times a day 30 mg a day. with little effect.
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
Avatar f tn I would really like to know if anyone has taken morphine in pregnancy and upon giving birth if their baby had with drawls or not AND what dosage PLEASE! I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same. I do go to a pain management place, I am in severe pain, I do not need lecturing, there are times I think about just ending it all just to stop the pain.
Avatar n tn He had been taking hydrocodone but his dosage had gotten so high the dr feared for liver damage. Could the morhpine be why he has lost weight rather than gaining weight? If the thyroid is not active, shouldn't he be gaining?
Avatar n tn If you take 300mg of morphine a day ,how much fyntenal should i need in a patch?????
1674921 tn?1304177675 I am only allowed to take 4 Tylenol daily - no aspirin or Advil. I can have morphine should I want it, but no aspirin.
Avatar f tn t seem to work...could have been too modest a dosage by the physician...I mean, how do you know...but I think spitfire was the best answer...I've been on methadone/morphine mix, the latter for breakthrough pain, so because of pain seeming worse, the doc incr. methadone by 20mg/day, and I start feeling just like spitfire described opana...don't need that, although doc offered it.
Avatar f tn Thanks ladies. Sara, I'm thinking the tiredness is from the morphine. I started the patch first and I didn't have any side effects from it (initially anyway.) When they switched out the oxycodone and gave me the morphine is when I started with headaches and being REALLY tired. The morphine does an okay job at BT pain, but not any better than the oxycodone, really.
Avatar n tn I dont know the exact dosage they give me post op as I have always had the black box and it gives it automatically and gets set up or down by post op nurse. I do know the dosage I have used at home iv as well as oral ir and I am to embarrased to say it. I cannot believe I am alive considering what you say is the normal dosage. It tells me I am very lucky.

Avatar m tn About 1 month ago my pain management doctor increased my dosage of morphine sulfate from 10 gm to 30 mg (1 every 12 hours). Shortly after I began taking the 30mg morphine sulfate, I started to develop a slight rash. Over the last week, the rash has become much worse and a real problem. I've been taking over the counter benadryl tabs to get some relief from the rash which is helping a little to relief the itching and rash.
Avatar f tn I think oxycodone is far superior when compared with morphine (as far as how well it works for pain. I would ask your doctor to just switch you back" to the "oxy 15s" when you are able to,. you can always take tylenol with your oxycodone, which magically turns them into them into a "strong percocet". When you said the morphine "doesn't seem very strong", what do you mean by saying that exactly? I'm just curious, just like your doctor.
Avatar m tn The 50 patch is more in line with your previous 60 morphine sulfate, plus some break through meds, dosage. The problem most have with the patches is that they do not last three days, only two for most people. See if your insurance company and doctor will allow you to do a 2 day dosage, vs the std 3 day.
Avatar f tn You use it to convert your fentanyl dosage to an equivalent morphine dose, and then find the equivalent morphine dose to oxymorphone, Generally when converting between opiates, doctors will reduce the new medication strength by a certain percentage to account for incomplete cross tolerance, which is a boost in analgesia you get from rotating from one kind of opiate to another. You can find equal analgesic tables, and apps for calculating equivalent dosing online.
Avatar f tn Should liquid morphine and fentanyl patches be withdrawn slowly, I am also on psychiatric medication as I suffer from manic depression. I am very concerned that the abrupt stopping of theese medications may bring on a severe depression. Should theese medications be gradually taken away with reducing dosage over a period of time?
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard that the dosage is based on your weight? My numbers are perfect, according to the doctor, however, I am always tired, have reflux problems that the gastro doesn't understand why, I am constantly having hard stools, not gaining or losing weight, and getting very frustrated. I keep thinking I need my dosage raised but no one will listen to me. Am I thinking the right way or not? Help! Need your advise.
Avatar n tn the hospital that my newborn is at is treating my baby with morphine and quanadine for what they say are suboxone withdrawls. he wa doing ok untl they put hin in the nicu. Now he is having problems and they say getting worse. they keep upping his dosage. I dont want them to do this and they say then my insurance wont pay for the bill if i refuse treatment. I hae asked them to start reducing his dosage so he can come home. He is fine when i am there holding him.
Avatar n tn t further adjusted by weight, but by lab vales and, most of all, symptoms. Or I should say, it should be adjusted by FT3, FT4 levals and symptoms.
Avatar n tn I am 56 years of age; never had a weight problem - until the past few years. 1.5 years ago I developed for the first time ocular pseudotumor in right eye - originally diagnosed as a sinus infection "out of control". Upon treatment @ the Moran Eye Institute in SLC, UT a proper diagnosis and prednisone dosage was begun and that was that. October 2006 started the pain in my head, the watering in the eye of my left eye - not the right and then the swelling began, again.
653169 tn?1303446369 I may be making a connection when there is none but before taking the morphine, I had no such problem. I am frightened by the reaction. Is it the morphine or is there some serious medical condition going on now, and it just happens to have occurred at the same time I was put on the morphine.
Avatar m tn I gave him back all my 100 mg morphine and all my hydromorphone and asked for a lower dosage. He then gave me 30mg twice a day for a week...that was okay...I could deal with it....But now I don't have any of those left. I am okay for about 2 or 3 days and then the withdrawal symptoms get really bad (and I take another 100 mg capsule--I saved about 10 of them)...I am cold(freezing) all the time, terrible bouts of depression, and then I get gross body movements happening..
