Common Questions and Answers about Mobic and voltaren

mobic

Avatar m tn m already a member of the Anxiety and Depression forums. After two months, almost, of tests and seeing various doctors and specialist, I've been diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis in the lower back and right hip. For this I've been prescribed Meloxicam/Mobic for the pain and inflamation. The data sheet that came with the prescription details some pretty nasty potential side effects. I normally don't have too much trouble with meds but this stuff is potent.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
199177 tn?1490498534 s in my stomach So be careful with the Motrin and Aleve and things like Mobic,Voltaren they can be very serious if u ignore it..Now for me will have to be Tylenol or my muscle relaxers ..
Avatar f tn Two days ago my rheumatologist stared me on Voltaren and I am pain free for the first time in one year....I am afaid to get my hopes up as this seems too good to be true....I know this mediation can be hard on the stomach so I am going to make sure that I always take it with food...so far I feel great all the way around but it is only 2 days....Comments anyone ? ...Thank you..
Avatar m tn I have had a similar MRI, but mine says "bilateral degenerative facet changes with ligamentum flavum hypertrophy" along with bulging L2-3, L3-4 and L4-5. My L5-S1 apparently is exiting my S-1 a nerve root. All I know is that I have had back pain for about 4 years now. It took my insurance 12 moths to finally approve my MRI and those were a part of the result. My doctor initially prescribed Voltaren, a NSAID. I didn't think it was helping so now I take Mobic once in the morning.
518798 tn?1295212279 i actually had to be on mobic for a while. its generic name is meloxicam..its a nonsteriodal anti inflammitory. i am no longer taking it, but its good and works well.
Avatar m tn The past week I had a Voltaren injection which after about 4 hours was a miracle, all pain went away and for the first time in a very long time I could move freely. Overnight it returned again, and yesterday I injected Voltaren again, and again it helped 100%. THis morning I was totally pain-free with ful mobility. Any idea what causes this? IF Voltaren helps it must obviously be a inflammation of some sort. Only problem is, Voltaren is not a permanent solution.
975514 tn?1324997938 the Voltaren, for what it is worth, I think I would make the same choice. I hope it works out for you!
975514 tn?1324997938 I am curious to know for those of you who have only been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (no other coexisting diseases such as Lupus or Lyme disease), do you get pain relief from any NSAID medications like ibuprofen, Aleve, or any other prescription NSAIDs like Mobic or Voltaren?
653169 tn?1303446369 I tried Mobic and Nabumatone and had problems with upset stomach and headache. In addition to Fibromyalgia I also have arthritis in my spine and shoulder, so I take it for that and I can't live without it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen doesn't even touch the inflammation and pain.
Avatar f tn I would stear clear of the tramdol .
Avatar m tn Not sure if it would help, but I have a 2 prescriptions for topical gels/creams. One is called Voltaren and it's used for small joints (and I think that would apply to a knee.) The other is a compounded one that has no name; they just prescribe a bunch of things and the pharmacist mixes it up. I switch back and forth between them. Lately I'm finding the Voltaren works better for me. And I use Alteril for sleep and think it's great.
Avatar f tn I have an unopened bottle of voltaren eye drops with an expiry date of October 2010. I just ran out of the Voltaren I am using and have a new prescription to get some more and don't have the money at this time to fill it. Would it be safe to use this unopened bottle as I have read that most medications are really good for 5 years after expiry and drug companies just put the expiry dates on so people will throw them away.
975514 tn?1324997938 I hear what you are saying. The reason I am so confused is because I take a couple other medication and no such incidence have ever been reported on the prescribing information. My pharmacist has heard of this happening and I was hoping find another person who had experienced this phenomenon, or perhaps to finally put this worry of mine to rest. What I will probably do is work with my Rheumatologist and Ophthalmologist and go back on Voltaren.
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn Whatever gets you through the day, but don't overdue NSAIDS. They all have side effects, and you will absorb some of it into your body. But for occasional use, it's not going to be a problem.
1284111 tn?1271592140 That stuff is like candy when dealing with shoulder pain. Voltaren works really well and Mobic does too. They are meds in the same family. Also, ice helps too. The doctor best equipped to handle a shoulder issue is an orthopedic doctor. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I was taking Ibuprofen for years and the pain in my knees was intollerable and I was confined to a wheel chair. About a year ago I started taking 1400 IU of Vitamin D and stopped the ibuprofen totally, my arthritis was doing MUCH better, even started taking short walks, however, recently, I had an injury and started taking Ibuprofen.....now my knees hurt all the time. Can Ibuprofen deplete vitamin D?
Avatar n tn My mama used to take Mobic and it helped her back alot. Unfortunately for her, it upset her stomach so she quit taking it with no side effects following. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn My provider told me I have a little of Osteo arthritis and has prescribed me Mobic for the pain. Now, since like a month ago, I have been feeling like big pulses on my legs, buttock, arms, neck, face, back and stomack at times. It does not last too long but, i do have then through out the whole day. It is somewhat worrying me. Does anyone know why this is happening or what lab test can I get done?
Avatar f tn I was on Mobic for a year or so and never had any issues besides stomach pain (which any NSAID's can cause) I get stomach pain with any NSAID's. Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex.
Avatar f tn Today a Doctor gave me a script for Mobic, for wrist pain that I have had for the past month from repative work,my Urate levels are at 52 just over limit.Im on Asprin and fluid tablets which can raise these levels. A specialist doctor I saw says it is gout I don't believe it is...I'm unsure about taking the Mobic though for my wrist ??
Avatar m tn Yes you can take Mobic with a narcotic pain med. Mobic is a NSAID, and has the same risks as other NSAIDS. In high doses it can cause some kidney issues, the vicodin has tylenol in it and can cause some liver issues in high doses. But they are safe to take together. Typically what you want to watch for is multiple NSAIDS, or Multiple meds with tylenol.
Avatar n tn ,can you enlighten me a little bit why G6PD cannot be treated with voltaren?what is in voltaren that makes it contraindicated in G6PD?i would really appreciate so much if you could give me some information.
