2104296 tn?1334841551 I friend of mine is on this birth control. She is having some huge side effects. I am trying to find more information about this birth control for her. I have lots of questions and looking for some answers. If anyone has used this birth control and has had problems with it. Please contact me so I can compare notes. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Bleeding after Mirena removal is usually a case of hormonal balance. When you suddenly remove the Mirena– the current source of external hormones– you deprive your body of its daily dose of levonorgestrel (progesterone). This creates a state of hormonal shock, because now there is excess estrogen. It is this excess estrogen that ultimately causes the uncomfortable symptoms in your body after Mirena removal– including heavy, irregular vaginal bleeding and severe cramps.
Avatar f tn In addition, very few women were diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after they had Mirena inserted. They all attributed to the low dose of levonorgestrel contained in Mirena since breast cancer is a hormone-sensitive cancer. However, Mirena's hormone is very low dose and only supposed to affect locally within your uterus. It should not be circulated in your blood, unlike the pills etc. If not in blood, how can Mirena affect your body systematically can cause weight gain, or breast cancer?
982207 tn?1251850886 Because this hormone is more active than other similar birth control hormones, it is more likely to cause side effects, lawsuits say. Specifically, women who used Mirena or other levonorgestrel products more commonly develop pseudotumor cerebri. There were 917 lawsuits pending in this MDL as of April 2019. In April 2018, plaintiffs and defendants gathered to go over the medical and scientific issues surrounding Mirena, according to the court docket. Discovery is ongoing." https://www.
Avatar f tn It's highly likely the emergency contraceptive pill you took is making her bleed, and will likely cause intermittent bleeding for the next month or so - and could delay her usual period at least for one month. Additionally, if you aren't having penetrative sex, there is no way she'll get pregnant. A few sperm deposited at the outside opening of her vagina won't be able to swim all the way up to an egg, without seminal fluid to neutralize the Ph.
Avatar f tn Do you have the weight gain side effects with the mirena that's what I'm worried about. Still undecided about the mirena vs the.
Avatar f tn Gg, you can still be fertile the day after ovulation, so taking emergency contraception was wise. I think you may have taken more than necessary, which may itself cause some side effects.
Avatar n tn I had the Implanon implanted in my arm about 6 months ago and love it. No side effects at all! Not everyone has bad side effects from the Mirena but in my experience it didn't work for me. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I think they're probably side effects from the mirena.
Avatar f tn Hi, You should check with your doctor and see if in fact, in your case, it is the Mirena that is causing your migraines. Every person is different but in my case, migraines were only one of the side effects of the Mirena. I don't mean to scare you, I am just sharing my experience with you in the hope that it may help you. I wish my doctor had told me of the side effects before I got it but I went on the info listed on the Mirena's pamphlet... I had the Mirena for the last 4.5 years.
Avatar f tn I had a mirena IUD placed in 2009 and in 2014 I had it removed and 3 months later I became pregnant and am now 19 weeks. The Mirena like all birth control does have some side effects but my dr had taken me off the pills I was on after several years due to the fact that they thought I was having a blood clot in my lung.
Avatar f tn figure out the problem, I work out 4 days a week, am a healthy weight for my size, eat healthy (I actually changed my eating habits to accomodate the fact that milk, bread, dairy no longer agreed with my stomach) and finally I went online and researched side effects of mirena and lo and behold - that was my problem.
Avatar f tn I just had my 2nd mirena inserted and alos have very sore nipples. I can't remember having this side effect when the 1st mirena was inserted.
Avatar f tn if my doctor would inform me about the possible side effects, I would never agreed to have that Mirena inserted. It is just the business. I do believe it is not healthy. Before the insertion, I was told " it would be something like $300.00". And after the insertion, I was asked to pay $550.00. I am sick and tired of Mirena and all of that I have to experience. Before I was happy and cheerful and now, I feel down. I do not want to be put on the antidepressants and to be more skewed up.
