Mircette vs kariva

Common Questions and Answers about Mircette vs kariva

mircette

Avatar f tn ve been on Mircette (a.k.a Kariva). Before I started Mircette I stopped my pills about 3 days before I was supposed to right before I was to start my cycle. Anyway, long story short, with this pill all I've had are bad gas and gas pains, some cramping but other than that I don't feel like I'm on bcp. Well yesterday I was supposed to have my period but when I thought it was here, I had mucus like cm and then some pinkish brownish discharge with it.
Avatar f tn I was orginally on Depo-Provera for 1 1/2 years (never had a period), switched to Seasonale (major nausea), then switched to Tri-Sprintec (my chest got huge on this pill), and then to Kariva (was great!). I was on Kariva for 10 months. I never took the placebo week, so I never had a 'period'. However, if and when I missed a pill or took it a little late, I always had spotting for a day or two.
Avatar m tn ve been told that its 1mg of norethindrone is still pretty androgenic especially for those who already have an imbalance. Would Mircette be an option with desogestrel being less angrogenic? Also, any experience with prescribed HALF tab of OC? (ie. instead of Loestrin 1/20.. use 0.5/10 for hormonal imbalance?) Just concerned about initial breakout. Just some background... I have not used OC previously.
Avatar f tn Hi- I am a 17 year old girl and I have been on birth control pills for a little over a year and a half now. I was originally prescribed Ortho-Tricyclen Lo but was switched to Kariva in May of this year because it was said to be the "less expensive generic brand" of Tricyclen Lo. I always felt a little more irritable and noticed my skin got a little more sensitive when I originally started taking the pill, but nothing too bad.
Avatar m tn For the past 10 days I have had light brown discharge non-stop, bloating, and bad stomach cramps. I was on Azurette birth control for about a year and then I switched to Mircette(this is my first pack); so I was wondering if the switch could have anything to do with it even though they are basically the same birth control. I am due for my period on Tuesday the 29th. I am very confused as to why this is happening so I'm wondering if you have any ideas or explanations!
525501 tn?1212432217 By the way, I've been taking mircette but I'm probably going to start something else because it is very expensive.
Avatar f tn Last Wednesday I got my period, and I began taking Kariva Birth Control. On friday, My boyfriend and I decided to have sex, which was dumb, but we used a condom with spermicide on it and in it. After a little bit, the condom popped and he pulled out immediately without ejaculating at all. Then we were finished. I know that people say that girls can get pregnant on their periods, however, i was only on the 3rd day of my cycle and i highly doubt that i could have ovulated so early...
Avatar f tn I have just gone through a similar situation. I stopped taking Mircette on 6/4. Since then I've had all kinds of stomach cramps, pinches, nausea, REALLY SORE BOOBS, and all other stuff you would expect from PMS or possible pregnancy. AF showed exactly 4 weeks after I took my last pill. My body was getting back to pre-bcp body. Your body is going through that same thing in my opinion.
Avatar m tn I am on Kariva birth control. I missed 2 or 3 pills the week that i had sex. We used protection everytime except penetration once for like 30 but he did not ejaculate. I took plan b (the one pill version) between th 48 and 72 hour mark. It has been 2 weeks since and my period has been a couple days late and very very light (dark brown). I know that the plan b causes disruptions in menstrating and so does missing pills but id like to lnow if im just overly paranoid.
Avatar f tn I decided to get off BCPs and since, have been feeling awful. I am back on the pill (continuous Mircette), but still do not feel well. I would love to find an endo specialist/surgeon in the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia area to get the endo excised. I am tired of feeling so awful. I would love to travel to a specialty center, but I have 3 young children and a part-time job. Thank you so much!!
1063764 tn?1272821064 I am also on the birth control pill Kariva. I was told that they would not interfere with each other, however something is not right and I was just wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I can't get back to the endocrinologist for another 4 months for my next test, so I did not want to stop the medication. Does anyone know how long it stays in your body...I was considering not taking it for a few weeks just to see if this cleared up.
Avatar f tn i know all birth controls are different, but they have a lot of similar side effects. i was on yasmin, seasonique, kariva, and now sprintec. the first two that i mentioned: i had my period for about a month. sometimes it just takes a while for your body to adjust. for me it eventually regulated.
Avatar f tn Also taking birth control (Mircette) continuously for period suppression (ie, only 4 periods a year -- 3 months of active pills followed by a one week break.) I am having trouble interpreting my latest labs with my thyroid and sex hormones... Sex Hormone Binding Globulin - 306 (high) Testosterone, Free - 1 (low) Testosterone, Free Percent - .3 (low) Testosterone, Total - 41 T3 - 229 (high) Thyroxine, Free - 1.5 TSH - 1.22 How is it that my T3 is elevated and the other be fine?
11728532 tn?1451774466 Hi there, I'm an 18 y/o female and I have taken birth control ( Kariva -- to be specific) since I was 15 to treat PCOS. About a month ago, I had intercourse and afterwards I bled heavily and had cramps for a week. I should not have gotten my period for another two weeks according to my pills. When I took the pills that started my period, It was very light and ended two days early. We used a condom but I'm scared.
Avatar m tn m a 21 year old who just stopped the pill after 5 years of being on it consistently. In October I was switched from Azzurette to Kariva, just a generic brand switch. I hated it and decided to go natural and stop the pill all-together around November 13. I got my "withdrawal period" right after.
Avatar f tn orthotrycyclinn made me have two cycles a month but every pill they gave me did that instead of makeing my periouds lighter it made me have more and heavier ones, plus i lost a lot of weight on birth control i was on kariva, low loesestrin fe, abri, orthottycyclin, and two other ones all of them did the same thing they helped witht he cramps but i had more cycles than i was suppposed to.
Avatar f tn Hi, are you on birth control? I was on Mircette to regulate my cycle and because it wasn't "strong enough" I spotted mid cycle. I also spotted on the Depo shot so it could be birth control. You are not pregnant from giving a hand job.. unless you took the semen and inserted it into your vagina which I doubt you did. If you did have sex and just don't want to say.. then you could be pregnant and the spotting could be implantation bleeding.
Avatar f tn I checked and the levoxly is not a generic and I do not take any other drugs (except Kariva at night). I would not know why my hair is falling out or what to ask the doctor to check. I am so worried that I will be the only bald one in my family.
Avatar f tn I work in the medical field yet I have been blind to my own symptoms. I am 47 and on Mircette for birth control and as a prophylactic for migraines - so I do not have a period. For the past three months or so I have been waking at 3am (despite 100 mg Trazadone that had been working fairly for several years) soaked in sweat. Sorry for the run-on sentence. Anyway, I attributed this to stress and a worsening of my Anxiety NOS.
Avatar f tn I think they're confused. If you read the full prescribing information, it's the PILL that screws with the lamotrigine, not the other way around. It's not like a lot of other anticonvulsants. From http://epilepsy.med.nyu.edu/treatment/medications/lamotrigine "Lamotrigine has no effect on other seizure medicines. And unlike some other seizure medicines, it does not reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Avatar n tn 6 which is above the norm. I also take Kariva as a birth control. What I am worried about is whether I really need to take this thyroid medication. I am not an anti-medicine person, but I certainly don't want to be taking something I don't need to take. Please, advise. Nat.
1371539 tn?1281268141 t had my period on my own for over a year now, and even stopped getting it while still on Mircette (birth control). My OB moved us onto a fertility specialist ASAP and with a moderate PCOS diagnosis, despite no cysts, I am waiting for my first beta blood test tomorrow to see if our round 1 of IVF was successful. I wish you much luck and persistence to get answers from your doctors! Remember...you know your body best!
Avatar m tn He said he could see lots of follicles in my right ovary, and what lookde like some scarring on the left. He did not elaborate further. He prescribed me Kariva and sent me home. One thing I want to note here is that after intrusive gynecological exams I always have pain and cramping. Don't know what's up with that. On Saturday I took my first dose of Kariva. A few hours later I started experiencing mild nausea and a terrible headache.
Avatar f tn In Aug 2007 I started taking Kariva 28 day and stayed on it until Aug 2009. A few months before this, I began having issues with my cycle. I wasn’t getting my period, I got my period early plus the full week I was supposed to, and then I was spotting several days a month. I then found out I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and started treatment hoping that would help. I didn't. I went on Portia 28 for 5 months, Junel 1.5 30 tab for 3 months and now I’m on Junel 1/20.
Avatar m tn Lactulose vs. Xifaxan to decrease the ammonia. And beta blockers vs. banding for the varices which I presume are esophageal. You will get variations of experiences here which are therapeutic relative to your anxiety and directive relative to the facts But go to your Hepatologist with these anxieties because you can manage the effects of cirrhosis. My best.
Avatar f tn You just have to do it awhile and you learn what is low vs high (ie knuckle deep to reach it vs full middle finger vs full ring finger). Then soft vs hard would be the difference between your lips and nose. I know way to much information, but you asked;-) It is also best when you cervix is wet (ie egg white stretchy discharge). Just remember most fertile is SHOW--Soft, High, Open, Wet. Again sorry I can't help with open vs closed. Good luck.
