Avatar f tn Hi ladies, I am 4 months pregnant and completely constipated!! I've tried hot water..prune juice...veggies... Apple juice and nothing is working I'm so uncomfortable are there any OTC meds that work but are safe for the baby??? I just wanna cry cause I'm so frustrated...
Avatar f tn Prune juice or miralax, miralax helped with the gastric pain from constipation but prune juice helped me go. I'd go like a week with no poo, totally normal.
Avatar f tn My doctor recommended OTC Miralax, and it had been a lifesaver. But ask your doctor first. Feel better!
Avatar m tn You may need a stool softener like Miralax or Colace which is OTC and not habit forming. Make sure you're not consuming too much fiber which can constipate you. Hope this helps and take care.
Avatar f tn My ob recommended otc meds like colace and miralax. Feel better doll.
Avatar n tn I think you looking into, too hard. Just about everything you look up is gonna say pregnant women shouldn't take this or eat this. Personally miralax works pretty good for me. I most like the doctor know what he/she is talking about. Stool softeners work too.
Avatar n tn Was constipated and had small pencil stools, had x-rays done and they found an impaction...I was told to take miralax, milk of magnesia, and a glycerin suppository every day and check back in two days... I could not wait as my anxiety was through the roof the next day...I went to emergency room and had more x-rays and impaction was gone...still advised to take miralax on a lesser dosage and check back in one month... I am still having the pencil shaped stools...can Miralax be causing this?

Avatar f tn Try miralax or colace, those are the 2 my Dr has had me try. I prefer colace since its a pill not a drink mix but it seems to help me out. And your bowels won't always "cleanse" themselves before labor. With my first I was constipated terribly the whole pregnancy all the way through delivery, never had the loose bowels they say you should so don't get concerned if you don't either. Everyone is different. Good luck!
Avatar f tn The colace is a stool softener and the miralax is a fiber powder. Both are OTC. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My doctor says I can take miralax and you can also use metamucil it just has a lotta fiber but doesn't work as good.
Avatar f tn m 60 a -year old female who has suffered from severe leg and foot cramps at night as well as constipation for years. I recently started taking an OTC Magnesium Oxide supplement, 400 mg per day and it has helped me with those two issues (I don't have to take Miralax anymore). But I read recently that you should not take Magnesium supplements if you have a slow heartrate which I have. I've exercised my entire life (and continue to do so), so my resting heartrate is 54 bpm.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to take miralax and to increase my water intake.
Avatar f tn The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had miralax?
408448 tn?1286883821 I have been having okay results since June with Miralax and Colace. A few weeks ago I began having what looks to be blood in the stool. I told my onc right away. She said do not worry. It is probably from a blood vessel bursting. Well, I tried not to worry, but it did not work! Could the Miralax be the trouble?
Avatar f tn I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....
Avatar n tn I picked up some cherry flavored prunes they are yummy. I suggest trying them. My seven year old twins even like them. But start with one or two a day.
Avatar f tn Also, can not stop taking MIRALAX. Will I ever get back to normal, or will sex always be this way and will i ever get off MIRALAX??
Avatar n tn Dr told me to just take folic acid and keep my calcium intake up (no prob there since I drink just of chocolate milk lol) Other than that, high fibre, lots of water and if Dr says ok then there is otc stool softners for pregnant women.
