Avatar f tn The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.

Avatar f tn I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....
Avatar f tn I'm not sure but if you still need relief I would try miralax. It's a tasteless powder you mix with your water and it helps soften the BM so you can number 2 easier.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had miralax?
408448 tn?1286883821 I have been having okay results since June with Miralax and Colace. A few weeks ago I began having what looks to be blood in the stool. I told my onc right away. She said do not worry. It is probably from a blood vessel bursting. Well, I tried not to worry, but it did not work! Could the Miralax be the trouble?
Avatar n tn My best friend takes Miralax and did throughout her whole pregnancy (she had her little boy in July). She never had any issues with it affecting the baby.
Avatar f tn Yes. You can take miralax. My dr gave it to me. There should be a line in the cap that shows you how much. I take it once a day. It can take up to 3 days to work though.
Avatar f tn Okay every woman knows that pregnancy causes constipation. I have stomach pain allllll the time I cramp hard all the time and finally was able to go a couple nights ago and lost 6.5lbs over night. Haven't gone again since but I continue to hurt very bad.my dr says I hurt from round ligament pain... somehow that doesn't make sense to me. Anyone had this problem?
Avatar f tn I think Miralax is safe during pregnancy (in most cases), but check with your OB first! everyone is different, and I DON'T advise you to do/take anything without checking with him/her first!!
Avatar f tn Lost 18-25lbs with my 2nd and 3rd due to nauseau and my life was miserable. At the end of my 3rd pregnancy my dr suggested miralax daily and my life turned around drastically. With my 4th I started off sick the 1st trimester and started the miralax and im human again. I have my days where I feel nauseaus but when I say life changing I mean life changing. Your body becomes so sluggish with pregnancy that baby gets all the good stuff amd extra water.
Avatar n tn I'm also 9 week along and I've been taking Miralax and it does help. I had this problem before pregnancy and used to take it and it would work the next morning an didn't cause stomach pains or diarrhea. But now I take it and it takes a couple days to work and it has caused some pain and diarrhea but I don't even care lol bring on the stomach cramps as long as it makes me go! I used Colace in my first pregnancy but that didn't really help me.
1112895 tn?1268581875 Okay this is probably tmi, but I'll try to keep it G-rated. I have been severly constipated this past week and half. I have been eating prunes ( a bag a day) and drinking Metamucil, and of course lots of water. I also eat bran cereal every morning which in the past has always done the trick. All these things I've done had caused diarrhea, but it wouldn't even come out (just a tiny bit that's how I know). It's really weird!
Avatar f tn I took Miralax for the last 2/3rd of my pregnancy - with my obgyn consent. She was also ok with me taking stool softeners such as olace, 3 a day when badly needed. Once on Miralax I did not need stool softeners anymore. Give your doctor a phone call, they should tell you what you can use overthecounter by phone.
Avatar n tn This is my third pregnancy and with every pregnancy, if I drank some coffee or ate chocolate I would go to the bathroom within an hour.
4280010 tn?1352134681 Constipation can cause abdominal pain and is very normal during pregnancy due to all the increase in hormones, you can take milk of magnesia but you can go to the er so they can accurately diagnose the problem prescribe you something
Avatar f tn I had horrible cramps a few days ago im also 8weeks n I was so constipated that I finally went n thats was y I had horrible cramps n ever since I started taking Miralax the last couple days I feel a lot better than that day.
Avatar f tn I suffer really badly from constipation I take Lactulose every day that seems to do the trick.
Avatar f tn I drink a cupnof black coffee.
1975995 tn?1411575607 Prune juice, colace (stool softener), walking, water, fiber (definitely keep up with water when taking fiber, as too little water will increase constipation more). If it's been several days you can use glycerin suppositories and that'll get you moving right away. For hemorrhoids, which are also another wonderful side effect of pregnancy, try witch hazel pads or Tucks medicated pads.
10456991 tn?1427890197 Is it ok to take miralax in the third trimester? I'm 38 weeks and 1 day and I can't not move my bowels for the life of me. I have taken it off and on in my 2nd trimester but jott sure if it's safe in the 3rd trimester. I called the Dr and left a VM but they close in 20 minutes and I will most likely not hear back from them till tomorrow.
Avatar f tn he told me that I could use miralax and gatorade and it would be fine..I mean really I got the bathroom anywhere from 2 to 7 times a day, the prep is all I need to push me over the top...so I am hoping that I will be able to tolerate the prep and the colonoscopy will go fine. A couple of other things, I do take things over the counter to attempt to slow down this condition..
Avatar n tn This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
