I haven't tried Mirapex, but find that a tens unit works wonders at helping the pain and spasms anywhere on the body, except over the heart or on the head. I think a tens unit confuses the pain signals and tones them down a lot.

Thanks for the info I have not tried requip, I do know it is similiar to mirapex, it increases the dopamine in the brain and when you have to much dopamine it can cause addictive behaviors. Since off mirapex I have no thoughts of gambling and have not gamble in a while. If you google mirapex or requip possible side effects, addictive behavior or OCD. I appreciate all the feedback from both of you.

PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!

Currently, there is a generic available for Mirapex (Pramipexole) and it is made by TEVA pharmaceuticals. It comes in the 0.125mg, 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, and 1.5mg strength tablets.

It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?

I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.

Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.

Thank you for responding. I would really like to track the RLS and the Mirapex in the Pain Tracker if that is at all possible. I'm hoping to have one place to chart all my various symptoms and treatments for submission to my physician for inclusion in my medical record files.

I have had great success with Mirapex, in fact I will not go without it...When I was hospitalized recently I threw a fit until they gave it to me. I actually threatened to leave if they didn't, because I will NOT go 1 day without it. My RLS affects not just my legs, but also my arms, so I understand what you are going through. t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.

I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!

I loose a lot of sleep. I get in day and night. My arms even jerk and have that restless feeling. Mirapex is taken twice a day and don't help. No drs will address it and I'm miserable . Is this a lack of a vitamin or mineral. Do I ever get rid of them?

a Pharmacist) do you think there would be a problem if I took one Ropinerole (1mg) now because the Gabapentin is ineffective at the moment. Perhaps in a day or two the Gabapentin will have kicked in?

Last year they started me on Neurontin and between that and pain meds I finally found a balance that stoped it no problems until about 4 weeks ago when I tried to nap during the day ( very tired) as doon as I got I guess to rem sleep I would be awakened with a feeling kind of like RLS but all the way down my rt side, a twitching , pinching, sharp pain that was unbearable . But now it seems it stays longer in my upper arm , shoulder and under my shoulder blade.

I have restless leg syndrome and the doctor wants me to stop taking my mirapex. I tried but ended up taking a half a pill (doctor said this is ok to try to wean myself off). Is there anything I can take for it so I can sleep?!?!

Since 1992 I have been to so many specialists and doctors. I can pick 3 that know what they are talking about all the time. Those 3 continue to study and learn constantly because they are so passionate.

I have had no nightmares in the 3 years I having been taking Mirapex.

I always seem to be kicking in my sleep. Whenever we stay in a hotel and I have to share a bed with my sister, I always kick her while sleeping and wake her up. Not just hotel beds, either - at home, whenever I wake up, all my covers are messed up because I have been kicking in my sleep. Also, at a sleepover, two of the girls there were awake at three in the morning. Apparently I started kicking and punching and crying out in my sleep. Do I have some kind of sleep disorder?

my mother has extreme leg cramps at nights this started 5 years ago she could not sleep at nights because of the pain.she took all kinds of pain killers then took mirapex nothing would help for years. 4 years ago because of the pain and the sleeplesness she fell on her back and broke her neck she was in a halo for 3 months still the leg pains continued. the next year she fell again and was giadnosed with progressive supra nuclear palsy she is now in a nursing home.

I'm on approx day 9. In the beginning RLS was terrible. It seemed to pass after day 6 or so. Now it's back with a vengeance. Also. I can't sleep at all. I took xanaflex. No help at all. It's driving me batty. I start school on Monday and I'm afraid to b tired. I tappered from icy 15s. I got 90 a month. But of course I ran out often. So here I am. Help!

Day Four. Still have symptoms. I get a break from them every now and then, but most of the time I'm still trying to knock myself out into sleep with the aid of klonopin and mirapex. I know I should be eating, but in about 10 hours from now I'll have had nothing to eat in 4 days. Part of it is the extreme lethargy that comes with sleeping so much. It's very difficult to get up and go get something and the prospect of delivery food makes my stomach churn even more.

LATELY I NEVER AWAKEN FULLY, BUT RATHER STAY IN A MENTAL FOG ALL DAY AND NIGHT EXCEPT WHEN I AM SLEEPING WHICH IS NEVER MORE THAN ONE HOUR AT A TIME. IT'S LIKE AN ALTERTED STATE OF CONCIOUSNESS. I TAKE 20 SOME ODD RX DRUGS INCLUDING MIRAPEX,CARB/LEVO, AND OXYXONTIN. I USED TO HAVE NERVE DAMAGE WHIH I NICKNAMED "THE JITTERS" BUT WHEN THEY DISCOVERED I HAD PARKINSON'S AND GAVE ME THE MIRAPEX AND CARB/LEVO THE JITTERS STOPPED FOR 6 OR 7 MONTHS.
