my mother has extreme leg cramps at nights this started 5 years ago she could not sleep at nights because of the pain.she took all kinds of pain killers then took mirapex nothing would help for years. 4 years ago because of the pain and the sleeplesness she fell on her back and broke her neck she was in a halo for 3 months still the leg pains continued. the next year she fell again and was giadnosed with progressive supra nuclear palsy she is now in a nursing home.

Wow Kraz - I am sorry that you have had to deal with the problem from Mirapex. I too have RLS and have been on Mirapex for about 2 years, but fortunately have not had a problem with gambling. I am an addict, but have been doing good with that too. Interesting though, your post made me think, there are other things that if I really look at it, I probably do in excess - and have been doing more since on Mirapex. Wonder if there is a connection there.

Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?

I loose a lot of sleep. I get in day and night. My arms even jerk and have that restless feeling. Mirapex is taken twice a day and don't help. No drs will address it and I'm miserable . Is this a lack of a vitamin or mineral. Do I ever get rid of them?

Hey does anyone know which works better the Hyland restful legs pills or the Hyland leg cramps pills? Did this stuff make a difference for any of you?

I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.

Hi Byron, I too have serious Restless Leg Syndrome...I don't know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.

PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!

I have recently been diagnosed with PLMD (periodic limb movement disorder). My understanding is most have during the night while sleeping. (it is not Restless leg Syndrome) Well, mine happens all day long. According to my Nuerologist studies have shown that it can happen during the day as well but they group into one PLMD.

I just found I'm pregnant. I am 5 weeks. I have restless leg syndrome and the doctor wants me to stop taking my mirapex. I tried but ended up taking a half a pill (doctor said this is ok to try to wean myself off). Is there anything I can take for it so I can sleep?!?!

The doctor put me on mirapex. She told me it would make me very sleepy and help to control the jerking and twitching at night to allow me to get better sleep. I spent most of my sleep time in phase 2 sleep with very little time in REM. My question is about the mirapex. Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better.

Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.

I take requip for RLS. I take .5 mg 1hr before bedtime. This med works on the dopamine receptors. These same receptors are effected when you use narcotics. Another homeopathic med I found is called "Leg Cramps" and its made by Hylands Homeopathic Labs. You take 3-4 tabs (sublingually) every couple of hrs as needed. I know a lot of people think that" if its OTC it cant be very effective"., But this stuff has quinine in it and i really helps me.

I also experience muscle stiffness and cramping in my right calf and, as of today, also in my left leg and calf. I have been told by my primary care doctor and my neurologist that I have benign fasciculations and not ALS based on bloodwork, physical exams and symptoms. However, I am still concerned because the cramps seem to be getting worse. I even have cramps/fatigue in my upper right arm now, especially in the morning. I am concerned about fibromyalgia now.

ask your Dr about the combo of Mirapex .25m and Gabapentin 200m per nite. works pretty well for me but sems nothing is a permanent fix. been thru dopamine treatment, clonapin, requip, all either worked for a while but w/ side effects, or didn't work at all.

hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.

It is called restless leg syndrome which can affect your arms and legs. It usually happens to me at night or when I have been sitting for a long time. I take Mirapex for it right now.

If any one knows more info, I have experienced severe lower leg and feet and hand pain and persistent muscle tightening, hyperreflexia, IBS, ringing in my ears, and constant leg jerking, both morning and night, since 2008 after a C-spine surgery. My current neurologist, 3rd one, is looking into polyneuropathy. I had looked up some symptoms and see that I fit the bill 100% but I am really feeling ill from being tired, and light headed that this may be due to Celiac Disease.

It would be very difficult to comment on the situation without a definitive diagnosis or even an examination. Other than restless leg syndrome other possibilities that may need to be considered are vascular issues, peripheral neuropathy, musculopathies, hormonal/ endocrine issues, micronutrient deficiencies, infections, stress/ depression etc. Without an evaluation it would be difficult to say what effect would a particular drug have on it.
