Avatar f tn Take the full dosage of miralax (17g) in the morning and another at night. Drink water all day. Eat fruits and vegetables and small portions of non fried chicken. Go on 30 minute walks every day. Try to relax and not stress about it. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn She took xrays again and said I wasnt constipated and asked if I was taking the Miralax. I explained that I was, but gradually took down the dosage until I wasnt taking it anymore and the diarrhea persisted. She said "well you can up the amount you are taking - you cant overdose on the stuff" Ok? Why would I want to increase something that causes more water in the stool and diarrhea? I was so confused?
Avatar n tn Miralax only gets absorbed in your bowels. It helps by pulling the water into your bowels to help you go and give you softer poop. It doesn't get absorbed into the bloodstream so it won't harm the baby. Class C only means there hasn't been any studies showing there is side effects that will harm the fetus. Doctors prescribe it and suggest it because it is a non-stimulant if taken at the correct dosage.
Avatar m tn I just was diagnosed with a tortuous colon after months of agony from constipation and a lifetime of general gastrointestinal issues. I'm only 31 and would prefer not to have surgery...I heard it is very risky and last resort only. I've been told to take Colace and Miralax. I'm still having issues, although not nearly as bad as before I started the Colace. Some days or half days I'm fine and then back to the pain again. What are some other remedies people have tried?
999780 tn?1263671971 He then put him on a strict diet and a maintenance of Miralax. He was slowly weened off that and was okay for a short while. He then started holding back his poop.It was so traumatic for him and us that we couldn't go anywhere. We then went back to the G.I. dr and he tested his thyroid and celiac which all came our negative. He was then put back on Miralax. I had heard negative things about it so I changed him to Magnesium Sterate.
Avatar f tn The cause of my disease also causes chronic GI issues, and constipation/regularity is part of it. I take double doses of Miralax on some days, a normal dosage on the others. My doctors have no problems with it. Other laxitives should be ok'ed by your doctor though. But I am like you, BM's are a rarity most times, but the Miralax helps a great deal. Btw, my primary disease causes severe bile issues. Small world, take care!
Avatar f tn I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to take miralax and to increase my water intake.
Avatar f tn The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had miralax?
408448 tn?1286883821 I have been having okay results since June with Miralax and Colace. A few weeks ago I began having what looks to be blood in the stool. I told my onc right away. She said do not worry. It is probably from a blood vessel bursting. Well, I tried not to worry, but it did not work! Could the Miralax be the trouble?
Avatar f tn I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....
999780 tn?1263671971 All I can say is he needs to get off the Miralax which has a bad reputation for side-effects (see the Miralax Yahoo Group) - it could be that or the toxins from his constipation affecting his behavior. If he gets taken into hospital he'll be given a series of enemas - which is probably the best thing to give him at home when he is stopped up.
1070971 tn?1299614110 I have only been on Remeron for 2 weeks. Do you think if I lower my dosage from 30mg's to 22.5mg's that I would already have withdrawals? I am having really bad constipation (I have used miralax and oral saline laxatives and that does not even work). I was fine with GI with the 15mg but was increased to 30mg due to daytime drowsiness. I was thinking of cutting it down tonight since my stomach hurts so bad! Any thoughts? I can deal with the daytime drowsiness but not the stomach problem!
Avatar n tn Told us to give him Miralax for a couple of days to relieve the bowel. He did take X-rays prior to, to see how much was backed up and how far up the intestines it was. X-ray showed pretty constipated. Did what the dr asked and they did another X-ray and it showed he was completely cleared of bowel both in the intestines and rectum area. Said it was okay to take him off the Miralax and go back to regular meals and activity. Soon after that appointment, he was again pooping in his pants.
Avatar n tn I went to emergency room and had more x-rays and impaction was gone...still advised to take miralax on a lesser dosage and check back in one month... I am still having the pencil shaped stools...can Miralax be causing this? Also had blood work done and was told I was 100% healthy from the tests they ran off those. Should I just stay calm and wait the one month?
1070971 tn?1299614110 I have been on Remeron for 2 weeks now. I started at a low dose and the doctor now has me on 30mg due to the drowsiness during the day. The only problem I am running into now is that my bowels don't work at all now. Do you think the increases dosage is what is causing these problems? I think tonight I may only take 1 1/2 pills instead of the two. I know I will be drowsy tomorrow but i Hate having my stomach feel bloated since I can't go (if you know what I mean).
Avatar n tn Amoxicillin is available in a number of oral dosage forms to help parents administer it safely and effectively to their children. Pediatric Drops According to PubMed Health, a website of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, amoxicillin is available in a pediatric drop form for infants. Each ml of this bubble-gum flavored liquid contains 50 mg of amoxicillin, states Rx List. Babies under the age of 3 months receive 30 mg of amoxicillin each day for every 2.2 lb.
Avatar f tn I have a three year old son. He has had problems going to poopy. When I take him to the doctor they just write it off and tell me he is doing it to himself. I see him in pain trying to push the poopy out, he is NOT doing this to himself. I don't know that much about medical stuff. I just know I love my babies, and I am tired of watching him suffer. He sometimes goes for days and weeks without a bowel movement. I have tried all the medicines out there. Something has to give.
681148 tn?1437661591 I read your response on the other post as well. I hope that you do ok with the Neurontin. At least, with this dosage, you can build it up if necessary. I'm glad to hear that taking the pain meds. earlier helped out. Take care and feel better soon.
Avatar f tn //www.drugs.com/dosage/imodium.html Have you moved your bowels since taking the Imodium? If not, there are lots of OTC products you can try, the recommendation for milk of magnesia is a good one, just follow the instructions on the bottle. Merri said to take 1/2 a cup, which I'm sure she was referring to a medicine cup, because 1/2 measuring cup of MOM would have you going for sure!
Avatar n tn One other possibility meds given to children with ADHD can have side effects like aggression and violence, so I would speak to the doctor and ask about the meds and dosage
Avatar n tn My son has been on MIraLax for two weeks due to large diameter stools (no other problems just LARGE). His BM's are everyday now, still a bit large in diameter, how long should it take for his bowels/intestine to return to a "normal" size? I'd like to start reducing the Miralax but fear the intestines aren't back to normal yet. Unknown to me he's had this problem for a long time. Unfortunately after your child starts going to bathroom by himself, you stop looking!
Avatar m tn Have symptoms gotten worse or better since she started the miralax? I only ask because miralax can sometimes cause irritation, gas, and cramping. Please keep me posted, I hope she is enjoying her day today!
Avatar f tn Get your husband some Miralax to soften his stools so they are easier to pass. You may have to play around with the dosage a bit but that's okay. You can also go to your pharmacy and ask them what they would recommend. Miralax works very well and I feel it will give him some relief and he may want to keep using it to maintain easy bowel movements. I'm so sorry for the bad news you received, my thoughts and prayers are with both of you.
