Avatar m tn However, three weeks ago my skin started to redden again, and i went to see the doctor. I got given just some metronidazole cream and told to apply this twice a day. A few days later though and my face was more red, dry, very hot and my eyelids had began to swell up. If i apply a little hydrocortisone the swelling and redness goes down for a couple of days then re-occurs. I don't seem to have much in the way of papules and pustules, but the skin does weep a little. It is very distressing.
Avatar n tn In addition, pls don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then pls consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription. I hope it helps.
Avatar n tn It is inflammation of the foreskin and glans in uncircumcised males. Topical antibiotics (metronidazole cream) and antifungals (clotrimazole cream) or low-potency steroid creams is the main mode of treatment. Proper hygiene with frequent washing and drying of the prepuce is also essential.Severe cases may require circumcision. I hope it helps.Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Other than that other treatment options are clindamycin topical treatment, topical steroids, oral antibiotics and metronidazole cream. Treatment should be continued for several weeks. If this is unsuccessful then the other treatments mentioned above may be tried. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn It has been present for a couple of months now. I have tried everything to get rid of them--zit cream, tea tree oil, Metronidazole cream, homeopathic rosacea gel, eczema cream, Desitin, and calamine lotion. Nothing seems to help. I did not change my makeup, laundry detergent, or skin care products before it began. I have fair, sensitive skin as well. Can anyone offer insight into what it may be? http://s1068.photobucket.
Avatar m tn Oral antibiotics can really get rid of the symptoms. Also there are topical meds (metronidazole cream and Klaron, a thin lotion) which help somewhat I guess but are not as effective.
Avatar n tn I saw the dermatologist today and he prescribed me a 1-month dosage of Minocycline HCl 100 mg and a topical cream....Fucidin H Cream. Multiple trusted websites state that Fucidin H Cream should NOT be used on “Inflammatory rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis)” and now I am very disappointed and discouraged that this will be a chronic problem I will not be able to get rid of, with doctors who seem to be unaware of cautions on the drugs they prescribe.
Avatar n tn My mom happened to have a perscription of my sisters left over known as Metronidazole Cream. I know that it was not my perscription so I should have consulted a doctor however, I thought I would give it a try anyways. To my surprise, it helped. The cream is an anti-acne rosacea cream and it minimized the bumps and burning sensation. There is still some discoloration but I'm pretty sure within the next week or so it will clear up. I really do appreciate your response!
Avatar m tn Hello, Instead of Fucidin which is a topical antibiotic, you can use other topical antibiotics like Mupirocin or Neosporin. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics.
Avatar f tn s like a hive and sometimes to relieve it I have to put cream on! I have recently been tested for every type of infection, HPV and all came back negative!! Have a lot if discharge everyday that's yellow and makes my jeans smell like urine so I have to wash them after every use Anyone shed some light on this?
Avatar n tn Hi there, I have been using a topical steroid (Elocon) on my face for the last 2 years now. I have tried to stop using this recently and have experienced a terrible red itchy, flakey rash on my face. I have been reading info on the internet and now realise I've probably got steroid induced Rosacea. I am currently taking erythromycin antibiotic tablets to help with the inflammation. Can anyone please suggest anything else that may help me?
Avatar n tn Steroid rosacea is possible. I suggest stopping all steroids, by cream or by mouth. Topical antibiotics like metronidazole may help. If you weren't on Accutane, oral doxycycline might be useful, but you can't take that while taking Accutane (which may itself help if you finish off the course and don't use steroids any more.) This rash may take some time to heal, but it should in the end go away completely. Milk and food have nothing to do with it that I can think of. Best. Dr.
Avatar m tn when i went to the Dr he thought it was fungal infection and asked me to use ketaconazol topical cream and he said he did not think it was HSV. and since i also have border line high sugar(102 mg/dL while fasting for 8 hours) that i was susceptible to fungal infections.
Avatar n tn So I have a cut on my head and am applying an antibiotic cream once a day to help speed up healing. This can't dry out my hair or anything, can it? I may just be overthinking because I have a tendency to do that.
Avatar f tn I was given Rozex cream (metronidazole) as i have an itchy penis (head). When i asked what was the diagnosis they said a fungal infection. Why have i been given this cream when metronidazole doesn't cure fungal infections? Is there any indication for using this cream on the penis at all? I thought most infections or protozoa were treated with oral metronidazole?
Avatar n tn Your physician may choose to treat the bumps with other topical medications, such as metronidazole, erythromycin, benzoyl peroxide, tacrolimus, clindamycin, or pimecrolimus. In more severe cases, oral antibiotics (such as tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, or erythromycin) may be required. Perioral dermatitis is a difficult condition to treat effectively. It often requires several months of treatment.
Avatar n tn t respond to over-the-counter medicine, you may need a prescription-strength topical or oral medication. These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist.
Avatar m tn First buy some ZOVIRAX cream ( acyclovir ) from the pharmacist and apply it on your lips. It will reduce the duration of the cold sore. Second there are many thing that you can do for periodontal disease. A deep dental cleanse on a good periodontal dentist or a simple course of an antibiotic called METRONIDAZOLE for 5 days will improve you gum bleading and smell for a long time. Metronidazole gel is also available for topical use on the gums.
Avatar n tn I have just been diagnosed, and my POD is at a medium level intensity because I abruptly quit my topical steroid cream (which im positive is the cause of all this). I have been prescribed 21 days of doxycycline at 100mg and metronidazole 0.75%. I'm wondering if this will be enough to clear my POD? I know it usually takes quite a while to clear and this seems like not enough? My doctor told me to take my oral anti-biotics for a couple of weeks first than start the topical anti-biotics.
1486289 tn?1315842255 ve found the aveeno line of products to be EXTREMELY helpful and it has helped us to minimize the use of topical steroids. Aveeno does make a line of products for infants. There is also an infant eczema cream tho I'm not sure of the brand..it's in a pale green and white tube though.
Avatar f tn I’m a 25 year old male who is currently going through topical steroid withdrawal in the groin area. I had a case of jock itch and was prescribed a steroid cream mixed with an anti-fungal. After using it on my groin area for a few days, my scrotum and testes started to become inflamed and red. I assumed that this was the jock itch spreading and the doctors that I talked to believed that was the case.
Avatar n tn However, the same treatment can be used again. It is important to discontinue all face creams including topical steroids, cosmetics and sunscreens at this time. When a steroid cream is discontinued, the rash gets worse for a few days before it starts to improve. Washing the face with warm water alone while the rash is present is also recommended . Your doctor may also prescribe a course of oral antibiotics for six to twelve weeks.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me I had bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection I think that's why she prescribed metronidazole and she also prescribed a cream (miconazole nitrate) I just wasn't sure if metronidazole was ok to take while pregnant. THANKS GIRLS!
