Avatar m tn What are some of the more common side effects of metronidazole for dogs?
Avatar m tn ) Anyway, one of my dogs had a few episodes of intermittent vomiting and diarrhea for the past 5 days - her stool was jelly like and one had traces of blood, and her vomit is usually gloopy and yellowish and at one time, had a tinge of pink / red specks in it, and recently it appeared foamy.
7219853 tn?1389289076 Her stool is normal some days, and when she has an episode, is a pudding consistence, mucousy, and also has had fresh blood in it. Her blood work came back normal, and was tested for parasites as well. She is generally a calm dog, playful at times, and hasn't displayed any other signs of being in pain. I'd love to connect with someone who has gone through the same thing and maybe get some advice as to what I can do to help her.
Avatar f tn I have som anitbiotics (azithromycin) and I was just wondering can you use its for BV????
Avatar m tn He is on Denamarin ¼ tablet for small to mediun dogs, 1 Prednisone tablet 5mg in the morning, ½ 250mg Metronidazole pill in the morning, and ¼ Prilosec in the morning! At night he only gets ¼ Prilosec! He has been holding his own for about a year now. Yesterday he started the head tilt and really stiff walking. He pants and drinks lots of water. He was diagnosed with high liver enzymes. He does also have some mouth/teeth problems but can’t go under the anesthesia to get a dental!
Avatar f tn Iv just been prescribed this for bv I got the gel and decided not to use it after advice from the hospital
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
612551 tn?1450022175 like myself who is also a (human) medical technician (nurse) said that he has had success with Benadryl Topical liquid on his dogs. I know the fact that it is safe/recommended for human use is not proof it is safe or effective on dogs. Still I'd like to give it a try. On the ears there is no way he can lick/ingest the stuff, on the feet he may get some ingested and perhaps that is a different issue.

Avatar f tn *Did not mean to put that as the title* But i need answers for if I'm able to masturbate while taking metronidazole pills and does anyone know if BV odor goes away after taking metronidazole cause i’m still dealing with the odor while taking the pills
Avatar f tn For the last 3 weeks, I've been having severe burning in my lower abdomen and it goes up my esophagus. Everything I eat or drink it burns 5 minutes after. I've been on PPI for years. Could I have IBS?
Avatar m tn I use Atopica (Cyclosporine) for my Bulldog and it has been great for him.He has been on all kinds of other meds for his allergies in the past and the Atopica has been the best med of them all.He takes 100mg 2-3 times a week. When he first went on it ,He took it every day for a month then every other day for a month and now he is down to 2-3 a week. His skin was so raw before he went on it.
Avatar f tn This being said, after much research this is what I was thinking of going, but am nervous as none of these remedies are FDA approved for dogs (i of course will check with his vet but i find that many times hearing other pet owner’s experience is much more beneficial as every dog is different). PLAN OF ACTION: -take him off the vet food.
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Yea its normal, but even if your period starts you continue it. Dont stop and recontinue.
Avatar n tn Hi. Pure coconut oil (must be pure, for dogs) is a useful supplement for dogs. It can be given with food or (warmed slightly) rubbed into skin, particularly where there are patches of irritated skin or hair loss areas. A small amount goes a long way, so be cautious with it. Too much can lead to diarrhea. It is not particularly useful for fleas, though it will help with any irritated skin caused by fleas.
Avatar n tn I took it for bacterial vaginosis with my 2nd child and was fine but I wasnt aware that yeast infections needed such an aggressive treatment like that. My OB has always told me to use Monistat 7 for any yeast infection ive had. Is there a reason why theyre prescribing flagyl as a first option?
Avatar n tn As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them. Ask you vet for dosing on any over the counter one such as benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Tavist (clemastine) or Chlortrimeton (chlorpheniramine) BUT most important get your pup on oral antibiotics and antifungals along with a good topical ear med like otomax or for really bad yeast clotrimazole drops. Also try cleansing the ear with a mixture of Domeboro solution.
Avatar f tn So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
