Avatar f tn Hi there does a yeast and a bacterial infection happen a lot to pregnant women.
385161 tn?1270081218 Web MD says taking antibiotic oral metronidazole is safe, but vaginal inserts are NOT for pregnant women. So naturally I called the doctor back in fear and was told they are safe and to take them. Now I don't know what to do and I am sort of freaking out. I need some advice...anyone take flagyl or metronidazole vaginal inserts for BV? is this doctor correct? Should I demand more cultures or just take the meds?
Avatar n tn If u dont know u pregnant are not can u still take it nd it not goin to harm the baby
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar f tn So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
Avatar f tn *Did not mean to put that as the title* But i need answers for if I'm able to masturbate while taking metronidazole pills and does anyone know if BV odor goes away after taking metronidazole cause i’m still dealing with the odor while taking the pills
1215490 tn?1319837441 I know it is still early since we have only been seriously trying for 3 months but I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong with either me or DF. I'm 32 and turning 33 this September so I'm starting to feel... maybe I waited too long to try for my first and I'm a little scared that if it takes too long we might only have a chance to have one baby (if one at all!). Anyway, I took the pill since I was 14 until about 2 years ago.
Avatar f tn I’m currently taking Metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis. Will it stop my chances of conceiving this cycle? Is it safe to try to get pregnant while taking it?
Avatar f tn Hi testing for trich with urine is done mostly for men as a swab of the discharge is done for women. have a swab when the discharge appears. also the discharge for trich in women is green. has your discharge been green?
Avatar f tn The best two antibiotics to use for the types of bacteria that usually cause bacterial vaginosis, are Clindamycin and Flagyl (metronidazole). Sometimes women have allergies to specific medications and we need to use others that are less optimal, but the best results are usually achieved with the proper antibiotics for the condition. Good luck!
Avatar f tn shaken71 Yes, new research confirmed that bacterial vaginosis can give false positives for low-risk women who are tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia by NAAT (the urine test). It is recommended that those who are given the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis and are then told they also have Chlamydia and Gonorrhea when they are low-risk (ie. have (-) partner and are in a monogamous relationship) should request a culture test.
Avatar m tn Some doctors prescribe pregnant women Metronidazole for treatment of bacterial vaginosis. As for the Ibuprofen, the 1 pill she took isn't going to hurt but they don't recommend continued use of Ibuprofen or Advil during pregnancy. They recommend Tylenol or Acetaminophen. I think your baby will be fine but if you are really concerned I suggest seeing an Obstetrician.

Avatar m tn It depends, probably, on what the metronidazole is for. If it is for a condition that can be passed to a partner, refrain from sex.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me I had bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection I think that's why she prescribed metronidazole and she also prescribed a cream (miconazole nitrate) I just wasn't sure if metronidazole was ok to take while pregnant. THANKS GIRLS!
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
636349 tn?1251486217 I know there have been some confusion about whether or not it is ok for pregnant women to take this! Im so worried and scared!!! Could it have been too early to do any harm being that i was only about 3w4d at the time i finished it? Has any of your doc's let you use it during your pregnancies! I am now 4w3d which is a scary time! I just want some peace of mind so that I won't stress so much! Thanks for the advice ladies!
511455 tn?1224183831 ( And I want to be completely healthy for right now and next time I am pregnant... Which may even be right now since we're trying again! :) Any stories would help! Thanks alot girls.
Avatar n tn t you call your doctor and see if they think it is a possibility. Because it is much harder to detect in men than it is in women, they may treat you for it anyway. It couldn't hurt.
Avatar f tn If u don't know ur pregnant yet can u still metronidazole nd does it harm the baby
Avatar f tn So after seein her so upset iv done a lot of research tonight and all over the web it says this antibiotic can fail for 1 out of 11 women but there is another abtibiotic to take which is called tinidazole. So I was wonderin is this disease definitly curable and has anybody ever had metronidazole and its failed 2 work and had to take something els e.g tinidazole??
Avatar f tn Unusual discharge can be a side effect of Metronidazole. I've found a lot of women describing this discharge as being brown and kind of clotted. I've experienced this myself and at first I thought I was getting my period as well but no... it seems to be a side-effect of the Metronidazole.
Avatar n tn Can only rule out trich with a test. It can be difficult to test in men. But are you still having all those symptoms?
Avatar f tn I see a ton of pregnant women working at maternity stores. I think it's very smart to have women with child working in places like that. I also have seen women at drug stores, Babies R Us, or maybe another daycare?
