My dog was throwing up (looked like human food- I hve no idea where he got it from) and having diarrhea. The vet gave him amforol among penicillin and steroid injection. We took x-rays and the vet said he had imflammatory bowel disease. Since then he's stopped vomitting but still having diarrhea. Now he's on metronidazole. I've read around that metro will help only temporary and that it could cause liver damage.
Has anyone had this problem and will metronidazole fix his problem?
Most like the odor is coming from a yeast infection but you should go get it checked out to make sure and the can treat you for whatever it is
I would be careful with antibiotics. I went through a year of alternating BV/Yeast infections. The antibiotics for the BV would kill off all the bacteria, including the good bacteria which would then cause a yeast infection.
What worked for me was to irrigate my vagina with hydrogen peroxide 3% (the kind you can buy off the shelf at the drug store). I would just get a syringe and fill it up and insert it vaginally and release it.
When I found out that I had trich, I bought Metronidazole and took 2grams (1 dosage) of it. Metronidazole made me feel really sick! Anyway, after a week I realized that I still had trich. Exactly the same symptoms were still there. So, I took Tinidazole.. a 2g dose. When will this take effect? I took tinidazole after I had dinner and went to sleep right away so that I won't feel the side effects of which I had when I took Metronidazole.
I give my 20 pound Westie one capsule of "fish oil" each morning. I use scissors and hold the capsule over his kibble - cut tip off and squeeze He seems to like the smell/taste of the oil on his kibble which is also fish based. This capsule is the same that I take, and the dose recommendation for a human (or any weight) is 3 per day.
I can't say I see any improvement in his several problems conditions, but I figure it "can't hurt"...
My 10 year old blue healer had a bad reaction to Clavomox that was given to her for a leg cut. After about 5 days of taking this, she was barely alive (we watched her get very lethargic but she would get better during the day and then go downhill at night). We took her to a new vet where she was put on IVs and eventually got mostly better but a week later was very weak and was limping pretty bad.
In the US, I was treated witn Metronidazole 500 mg 2 x day for 7 days (I did not have any tests done), which supposedly is the drug for trichomoniasis, and that this drug did not do anytning to improve the condition; the symptoms are still present. The only difference in symptoms I am observing is sometimes clear discharge, more ofthen though, yellow, thick discharge, which is most observable in the morning, before the urination. Also, there is no odor of any kind.
I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV?

Welcome back to the forum. However, you are asking a question that really should have been directed to the doctor who is treating you.
It seems likely you caught nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) or perhaps gonorrhea fromt he oral sex event. Your doctor has correctly treated you for both of these -- cefixime against gonorrhea, docycycline against NGU (using American spellings).
Last 2 months i had a vad watery green diarrhea for 3 days. My MD prescribe ciprofloxacin and metronidazole. Please help.im having anxiety thinking of it .can i send pictures? Thankyou very much!!
I too am a vegan but not full blown for I do eat fish for the protein. There are no pros in eating red blooded animal flesh. This is my opinion only, others may differ. Google search under "diabetic vegan nutrition" turned up 158,000 hits http://tinyurl.com/45pwnx. And "diabetes vs vegan" resulted in 1,390,000 hits, all positive on vegetarian diets.
Glad some testing has been done but there can be other causes such as Inflammatory Bowel disease, IBS, malabsorption, pancreatic problems, bacterial or viral infections. Etc. some of these can only be checked with specific blood work, X-rays and scopes with biopsies being done, which means more Vet bills.
What food are you feeding? I might try something other than chicken or beef and no grains.

Even though most natural supplements, herbs, etc. are completely harmless, there is always the possibility of a negative interaction with another medication. In my opinion, it is always best to consult your Dr. Your pharmacist is also a great resource. All the best to you!
Now I am pregnant and my OB thought I had yeast infection and prescribed metronidazole vaginal gel .75% for 5 days. (no testing to confirm what type of infection-just visual examination) I got better then got worse with itching, pain and she prescribed monostat....but then I examined myself closer and realized it was my first re-outbreak of the HSV2. I had minor spotting and went to see my OB and she confirmed what I already knew. She told me to double my valtrex for 10 days.

And you should look for a pharmaceutical grade product that comes from healthy fish caught in pristine clean waters, then is quickly processed for purity and packaged under strict pharmaceutical conditions.
at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...
