Metronidazole (Flagyl) is what is usually used to treat BV and it does not has not been shown to decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Because some antibiotics like rifampin used to treat tuberculosis may decrease the effectiveness of birth control some providers are just more comfortable telling people they should use an additional back up birth control method on any antibiotics.
Im on birth control pills. I had sex Thurs & the condom broke (I was a couple of days before my placebo pills). I jus found out today I am pregnant. I'm concer with the health of the unborn baby. I am worry if the any possibility of births defects and any other problem related to the medications.
Ya, could have gotten pregnant if you did not heed the nurse's advice to use a second protection of a condom and you forgot pills. Birth control will only be effective if you follow the instructions, hon. Good luck and you can test 2.5 weeks after the sex to find out.
Hi i have been on birth control almost 6 months now. And i bleed for 2 weeks every period. The first week its just a brown mild red spotting because im still on birth control and then the second week when im on the brown pill is when i actually get the full on effect of my period. Today i got my period again and im still not done with my normal birth control so i decided to skip to the brown pills this week and start a new pack once my brown pills are done.
Can I get birth control without having an exam? I want birth control to regulate my period. I have never been sexually active but my period can go for 5-9 days not heavy or light flowing. It also has a range of 21-30 days in between periods. I do NOT like to be touched and have never had a successful relationship because of it.

My friend has done the depo shot two different times and each time she has gained alot of weight with it, anyone else experience weight gain? I would like to do the depo shot bc I know I cant remember to always take the pill but I already have a hard time losing weight any advice???

Depo takes effect as soon as you get it. It worked great for me as far as not getting pregnant but I had horrible mood swings, acne, and my appetite was out of control. It doesn't do everyone like that but all birth control has some type of side effects!
