Metoprolol with ibuprofen

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol with ibuprofen

Avatar n tn My grandfather was recently put on a high dose of ibuprofen (800 mg) because he cracked a rib during a fall. Tonight, after his second dose of the day (one at lunch, one after dinner) he produced no stool except for a lot of white mucus. He also has a suprapubic catheter (inserted only about 3 weeks ago) which I know makes him vulnerable to infection.
Avatar f tn I am concerned that nobody has told me that taking buproprion with metoprolol can cause an interaction of increasing the affects of metoprolol. The doctor didn't and neither did the pharmacist until I read about it and called to ask. It also suggests that metoprolol isn't always a good mix for those that have sleep disorders.
Avatar m tn I had an MI during January, 2007. I am taking 75mg of plavix along with low dose aspirin. I am also taking 50 mg of metoprolol bid and diovan for blood pressure. What drug can I safely use to control the typical headache or backache.
Avatar n tn Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.
Avatar n tn I have avoided all caffeine, ibuprofen, heavy exercise, and have only recently started to have 1/2 glass if red wine with dinner. My next appointment is in October - until then, I'm supposed to continue with the Metoprolol and avoiding "triggers" (caffeine, etc.). So, my question: If my echocardiogram is normal, my BP is normal, my pulse rate is normal, why must I still follow a regimen for MAT? Has anyone had only one episode of MAT (granted, mine was pretty extreme...)?
Avatar f tn In August I went for a regular physical (due to pregnancies it had been some time since I had had one) and for the first time, I had borderline high cholesterol (211 with LDL of 132 and triglycerides of 148). I also had GPT elevated at 65 and GOT at 38. I quit using ibuprofen, which I had been using occasionally, as well as my birth control pills.
Avatar n tn The last two weeks, I developed a severe headache and neck aches, which were constant, and I was taking 2 extra strength Tylenol along with 1 Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours for the last couple days to try and stop them (recommendation from my internal medicine doctor). That seemed to help but frankly was scared about all the pills I was taking. Saw my cardiologist again and he told me to quit taking the Metroprolol within the week due to side effects it was causing.
378273 tn?1262101221 Or rather the stress because of the pain? I'm taking Ibuprofen, though the pharmacist said it is not a good idea while on Metoprolol, but if I don't take it all the time there shouldn't be a problem. Could the interaction between the Meto and the Ibu be causing the palpitations? Just wondering!
10662256 tn?1411842584 30 AM and took (1) pill and then went back to bed. I slept until about 12 PM and then took (2) pills along with my vitamin, heart pill, B-12 and an Ibuprofen. As I am typing this I feel that I am getting my feet under me. I have a ton of work to get done at my desk this afternoon and then leave around 6:30 PM. I am hoping to finish my work around 5 AM and on my way home. Thank you to miss Kaye (sp) and miss Debbie. The 2 of you have really kept me hyped and encouraged.
Avatar f tn So they let me go in the morning, I am to take 2 weeks of ibuprofen and he said I’ll forget this happened in 6 weeks. I had no fluid around the heart. Well here I am 5 months later and still jacked up. Have done a lot more ibuprofen and colchicine for 2 weeks but nothing seems to beat it. Had a cardiac mri which determined I only have a piece of my wall inflammed. My heart hurts more with activity so my doc told me only walking and put me on metoprolol for palpitations.
Avatar n tn is trying to overlap the prednisone until the methotrexate kicks in. Tachycardia persists and is relieved with Metoprolol 50mg 2 x day. I have palpitations and skipped beats. I'm very tired, fatigued. I have not been able to work since September of last year. CT Scan shows evidence that my pericardium is thickened but I am not constrictive at this point. If I came to Cleveland Clinic, would you keep me on the methotrexate and/or what would be the next course of treatment for my condition.
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar f tn When I was 12, I was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia.. After two ER trips, cardiologist, and heart monitor I was given metoprolol 25 mg once per day. It regulates my heart rate quite well and I haven't had problems in years. I am now nineteen. In the past two weeks, I've been to the ER twice for chest pain. I've had sharp chest pain with an aching arm. The chest pain is persistent but comes and goes.
Avatar n tn My husband, who is 35, just got a physical with blood tests taken. The results showed he has an elevated liver enzyme. The nurse said it was "no big deal" that he must drink every now and again. Well, I feel my husband drinks a lot, and the reason he got the physical done is because I thought he was drinking much more, and with that came symptoms of cramping, cold sweats, headaches, and nauseation. These symptoms were happening when he wasn't drinking.
Avatar n tn My memory seems to be fading as I get older. Sometimes I lose my thought in the middle of a sentence while talking with someone. I don’t do regular exercises, but I do (farm-type) work outside a lot. I have gained almost 10 pounds since March (about 2 months).
Avatar n tn (1) I have never encountered a patient who had elevated liver enzymes from metoprolol, and I've prescribed a LOT of metoprolol. Anything is possible, but before implicating the metoprolol, I would recheck the ALT and think of another possibility. Moreover, most AST/ALT elevations are from transient viral infections or other unexplained phenomenon, and these go away on their own.
Avatar m tn You probably mean that your gastroenterologist thinks the rectal bleeding is related to diverticulosis (which means the presence of the pockets or diverticula). Abdominal pain with eating is consistent with intestinal spasm, although this could occur with other conditions. I cannot tell if you have had a colonoscopy; if you have not then you should discuss this with your healthcare provider.
959034 tn?1253675076 Motrin (ibuprofen), bisoprolol Moderate Drug Interaction MONITOR: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may attenuate the antihypertensive effect of beta-blockers. The proposed mechanism is NSAID-induced inhibition of renal prostaglandin synthesis, which results in unopposed pressor activity producing hypertension. In addition, NSAIDs can cause fluid retention, which also affects blood pressure.
Avatar n tn I also noticed that my stomach stayed bloated (especially towards late afternoon). And since I have always been very slim with no stomach, I wonder if I could also have fluid there. At that time I was also on 50mg Metoprolol, but my cardiologist discontinued this and increased the Lasix to 80 mg daily. My HR especially in the mornings, goes up to 100-120 just standing or walking to the kitchen and I get tired very easily.
Avatar f tn My EP gave me three days of Prednisone to resolve the inflammation of my heart. I also took 600mg of Ibuprofen to relieve some of the swelling of my heart. I was discharged the next day with a 120s HR and normal BP, for the next couple of days I felt what I thought was SVT or maybe Tach. I am not sure. It comes and goes. I was able to get up and walk around after the 3rd day.
102999 tn?1326859384 My insurance doesn't cover the docs that deal with it. So it is very difficult to get trustworthy info/advice. Question is...could any of these be aggravating my PACs? Thoughts?

Avatar m tn I am 21 near 22 years old and for the past few mornings, this week I been waking up with a hard thumping heart and with my heart rate going up from about 60-80 at resting straight to 100. I been taking Ibuprofen 200mg and Tylenol extra strength 2x500mg as directed. Avatar f tn Based on all the tests I was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia and I was prescribed metoprolol (25 mg a day – ½ in the morning and ½ at night). The pills made my life miserable – I was dizzy, lightheaded, sleepy around the clock, so here I am back to see a doctor who suggested I switch to bisoprolol (I’m taking 2.
Avatar f tn Back in November of 2008, I literally woke up one morning with my muscles twitching everywhere and I mean everywhere. It has not stopped since. I have chronic widespread muscle twitching and cramping with acute attacks of intense itching on my arms. I have no rash when this occurs. I noticed when I do have the intense itching which my Dr. diagnosed as Pruritis, I get really nauseous and vomit. I have seen two Neurologists. The first Neuro did blood work, EMG, and muscle biopsy.

772216 tn?1259276837 It started in my knees and about 4 years ago started spreading, within about 2 years it was in almost every joint and last year affected my jaw (my jaw is not a huge problem just some occasional aches, rarely is it really bad). I am in severe pain daily with little to no relief and also have muscle spasms mostly in my chest and back. I have been on a range of diff.
Avatar f tn I have occasional atrial fibrillation and I only take 200 mg of Amiodarone a day as well as 50 mg of Metoprolol twice a day. The combination seems to be working fine. I am sorry to hear you have to take so much medication. I'm shocked.
