The last two weeks, I developed a severe headache and neck aches, which were constant, and I was taking 2 extra strength Tylenol along with 1 Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours for the last couple days to try and stop them (recommendation from my internal medicine doctor). That seemed to help but frankly was scared about all the pills I was taking. Saw my cardiologist again and he told me to quit taking the Metroprolol within the week due to side effects it was causing.
So they let me go in the morning, I am to take 2 weeks of ibuprofen and he said I’ll forget this happened in 6 weeks. I had no fluid around the heart. Well here I am 5 months later and still jacked up. Have done a lot more ibuprofen and colchicine for 2 weeks but nothing seems to beat it. Had a cardiac mri which determined I only have a piece of my wall inflammed. My heart hurts more with activity so my doc told me only walking and put me on metoprolol for palpitations.
I weighed about 200lbs when I began Metoprolol. Before I was on Metoprolol (and before I was diagnosed with a heart issue) I ran 5 miles/day. I had actually lost 100 pounds a few years prior to the diagnosis and kept weight off with exercise.
After about 15 months on Metoprolol, I had gained 75+ pounds.
After 27 months on Metoprolol, I had gained 130+ pounds. (I weighed 330 lbs!).
The metoprolol (along with the diagnosis), made me very tired and very depressed.

If you look at the plasma half life of Metoprolol, at the end of the day, there is very little remaining in you blood. Are you taking it more than once a day? With Metoprolol Tartrate (the standard release kind) taking it only once a day creates these peaks and valleys as opposed to a more level dose.
Higher dose of Metoprolol will most likely interfere with your physical activity, as it will surely lower you blood pressure, and maybe too much. I've taken as much as 200 mg a day (100 morning, 100 night) and it really puts me down. I'm now on 100 mg (50 by 50) and tolerate that well.
I'm about 6'6" and 240, so our size is similar, not sure size matters in terms of the side effects.

Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.

Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped.
The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Its good to check with your dr, but I've been on ibuprofen 600mg every 6 hours since 17weeks. I'm 30 now and will stop at 32. Everything will be fine for you!

I am now having trouble because my blood pressure is normally pretty low, so I have had to play around with the metoprolol dose to stay upright without dizziness! My heart rate seems to vary SO much. I have days where it is in the 50's on the beta blocker and is never above 90 standing. Other days it goes from the 50's at rest to the 120's, even with the metopro l. Can the symptoms of POTS be really intermittent?
