237152 tn?1206651036 I recently quit a 2 year addiction to hydrocodone. At its worst I was taking up to 20 pills per day, 7.5/ 325 Norcos.. I know about the risks to the liver, but can this type of abuse lead to heart probems? I have noticed since quitting that I am much more easily winded, and after even a small amount of exertion my heart is pounding. I am only 33 and before the addiction I was physically fit. Could the abuse have led to a heart condition, or is it just my body being out of shape?
1233941 tn?1267735211 s why many addicts, say they wish they would have never started on methadone or long term sub for vicodin addiction. The exception is, when someone is taking so many pills and has tried and failed a few times before to quit. These treatments (long term sub & methadone), should be reserved for the most desperate cases with multiple treatment failure.
1363471 tn?1305399927 Well, today I ran across someone who has Clonidine and Methadone 10mg pills and has really no use for them. I have been trying to research online for hours now and have gotten so much mixed information on the methadone, I don't know what to do. The Clonidine, I understand lowers your BP and is supposed to help with withdrawals I have read many, many times. But, the methadone is what I'm sooo confused about.
Avatar n tn so wouldnt it be better to take the hydrocodone for ab 2 weeks low doses so he can go through the hydrocodone withdrawal and not the methadone? what if he takes a 5mg hydrocodone would that start the withdrawal process over?
Avatar n tn Really glat to hear your last 36 or so hrs. werent that bad.. Dont be lured into ANY treatment if at all possable.. Your doing great, and as your preg. progresses I think the thoughts of the hydro. will seep into the back of your head and dissapear. I really think that when a preg. woman takes methadone or buprenorphine, the baby becomes predisposed to becoming an addict and I've known a few woman that were addicts and in treatment, and some who were userers and not in treatment.
Avatar n tn I have been trying to quit taking Hydrocodone for about the past 2 years. I have started taking Methadone on occasion. This morning I took a 10mg Methadone and this evening I took 3 10mg Hydrocodones. I am experiencing a ton of breathing problems now. Does anybody know if this is a bad mix. I was taking 10-15 10mg vicodin a day. I know it has to be tearing up my liver. Does anyone else have a problem like this?
Avatar m tn On the addiction board everybody is screaming no methadone, but is it a good option for me? I mean the user it for addicts and people with chronic pain and I'm both so?
Avatar n tn You are merely trading one addiction for another! Just talk to those who are weaning fronm Methadone....Is there any way you can go to a rehab or detox under a Dr supervision. Tapering would be a better option. Obviously just an opinion....I am just concerned about this path!
Avatar f tn I had been on Hydrocodone for about 4 years and my new Dr felt Methadone would help. Day one they gave me 30mg. I could not function and I was very sick, vomiting, etc. I told them that was too high that I wanted no more than 10-15 mg per day. I was a little shocked at their encouraging people to take high doses and increase 5 mg per day. My blood pressure has dropped and I'm not going back and my Question is this. Am I addicted to Methadone at 10-15 mg per day for 7 days?
268662 tn?1203171238 I am on 120mgs of methadone daily for a long and nasty heroin, dilaudid, and oxycontin addiction, Ive been cold turkey on methadone I was on suboxone 32mgs the highest daily dose for 9 mths and been thru hell and back, I would love to help in any way I can, let me know, best of luck to you, Christos
Avatar m tn I totally relate to you! Been there.....done that. Get your back fixed and then you can formulate a plan to get off the opiate pain meds. Take it from someone who was addicted to hydrocodone and ignorantly went on subs for 28 days......don't use suboxone to get off hydrocodone. It's MUCH stronger and totally synthetic....and then you'll have to w/draw and get off THAT.
Avatar m tn I have been on 50 mg Hydrocodone SR capsules(compound) for almost 2 years. I have been taking 200 mg total per day since the begining for lower back problems, and a questionable left knee. I just want to quit this drug, and pursue an alternative method to my pain management. My doctors has prescribed a tapering method that includes 10 mg methadone and a 25mg version of the hydrocodone. He feels I should have it licked in 6 weeks.
Avatar m tn so u detoxed using methadone for 7 days and then sub? or was ur addiction to methadone?
484378 tn?1209905892 I don't understand how you don't know that one narcotic repalces another. Also I have to speak on how I feel for hydrocodone addicts going on sub or methadone. I don't like it and I feel it's like putting gasoline on a fire, using these strong synthetic drugs for vicodin addiction.
Avatar f tn i too had a secret side and was taking hydros for many years.....this site is an awesome place for info and support! do you plan on stopping altogether or just wanting to get thru wds until your refill can be picked up? just trying to get a little info about you so we can help.....CT can be done....i did it as many others here has as well....we can help you get thru WDs.....the Thomas recipe at bottom of page is great.....i was taking 14-16 a day and went CT after one day of taper....
Avatar f tn Methadone was the devil for me. definetly talk to your OB. That is overkill. Every doctor seems to have different opinions but please , what ever you do, do not get addicted to methadone.
Avatar f tn Ok...I recently got off methadone after a 21 day detox from a 120 mg a day hydrocodone addiction.. coming off the methadone was awful!! Way worse than coming off the pilz cold turkey. I made it exactly 14 off methadone from the completion of the 21 day detox. I had restless leg , nausea, loose stools, I couldn't sleep for anything.. it got to the point where I couldn't take it. So two night ago I took 20 mg of hydrocodone and havnt had a withdrawl symptom since..
Avatar m tn If you choose to try taper yourself, see if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
Avatar f tn Methadone 10 mg every 12 hours. Hydrocodone 10/325 1 or 2 when needed. Take about 2 a week. Zanaflex 4-8 mg for sleep. Was also taking resteril 30 mg for sleep stopped a week ago. Have been off phenergan & Valium about 3 weeks. Stopped opana 3 months ago.
Avatar m tn I had a prescription for tramadol for over 3 years, and it has now run out. I still have access to hydrocodone and tramadol, without a prescription. I'm basically fed up with my whole life and routine revolving around medication. Not to mention, the financial drain due to the addiction. A normal day consist of 4 to 5 50 mg tramadols, and 3 hydrocodone 10s. I have began weening back, and now either take 3 hydro 10s, or 6 50mg trams. Rotating depending on availability.
Avatar f tn What if she takes me off of Methadone for some reason and all of a sudden, I am a Methadone addict? Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I have the willpower to pick the meal over the pill right now. Sad but true! I feel great physically but there's some boredom & missing the pills a little! It's not driving me insane though. Well...... It's been 7 days since I've had the percocets & almost 72 hours since the last methadone. Remember I only took the methadone for 3 days at 10mg a day Is it safe to say its not gonna get any worse??
Avatar n tn It will continue on and off (especially stomach issues and fatigue) for a month or so for most people. The mental aspect will be with you forever. Addiction is a chronic disease with no cure. Please, find some sort of aftercare and plan for the life after withdrawals. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My addiction was small also, compared to many people here. I took Hydrocodone 10/325 four times, and once in awhile five times a day, for 5 years. I quit be cause I felt like I was taking them more for the energy they gave me than for the pain issues I had...which were valid, but not so bad that I haven't been able to get along without them. I am not familiar with Tramadol that you mentioned. I am not very well versed on drugs.
1171652 tn?1264091397 I wouldn't mess with the Tramadol. It's very addictive too. The worst should be over in 5-7 days. You will get a lot more responces if you post this on the "Substance Abuse Addiction Forum" (it's highlighted in blue at the top of this page). This is the Addiction Social where we just kinda goof off. lol Keep up the good work.
