Avatar n tn He will not tell the about the placement of the scar or the method he will use. This is at a teaching hospital (UVA medical center in Charlottesville VA) that is very respcetable. How should i go about getting the information to make an informed decision? Should I not have the right to have a say in an operation that will affect my sexual life? Any suggestion?
Avatar m tn X-ray revealed nothing, and I have been through chiropractic and physical therapy with marginal relief at best ( ~ 24 hours.) medications used include metaxalone, valium and ibuprofen. stiffness has remained constant, w/ a reduced ROM when flexing my neck laterally. I also occasionally experience shooting pain up the left side of my neck when i rotate my head in that direction. Neck remains inflamed and "cracks" often.
Avatar f tn Call and tell them what is going on. I work at a teaching hospital also but the patient always has the right to refuse students and a resident.
Avatar f tn You could try searching the yellow pages for a list of neurosurgeons in your region, preferably located at university/ teaching hospitals and try seeking patient reviews before deciding on one. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn If your cat were my patient, I would refer you to a veterinary teaching hospital to be evaluated by a veterinary nephrologist, and other specialists. Is there a veterinary teaching hospital or a referral clinic, with veterinary specialists near you?
Avatar m tn The difference is massive. I am a registered nurse, I worked for over 10 years in a teaching hospital. Residents and fellows do need to learn but surgery for pelvic organ prolapse is very complicated with a very high risk of complications if not done correctly. Instead of a doctor who has done hundreds of surgeries you would have someone learning do your surgery.
Avatar f tn Pain of cardiac origin is not positionally relieved. There are exceptions, but that is the general rule. You really need an in-person evaluation by a physician ASAP. If this happens again you need to go to an ER. Double vision and pain in the eye are another matter. This is due to a cranial nerve palsy, often secondary to diabetes, but sometimes due to other more serious causes. This kind of pain is not usually relieved by medications, unfortunately. Be wary of taking too much acetaminophen.
Avatar f tn I'm a chronic hepatitis patient, and have not started treatment. My current symptoms include fatigue and gas/bloating. I recently asked my hepatologist to write a note for me, certifying that I'm his patient, and that my chronic medical condition could cause chronic fatigue and digestive disorders. The purpose of this note is to help me request for a more accommodating schedule (but with the same work load) from my boss. To my surprise, he refused to do so.
Avatar f tn I am out in California and know nothing about the UA Hospital but i do know if it were me i would do as much research as i could to find out what their specialty is and their success rates. I would look for patient testimonials as to their experiences there...
Avatar f tn We live in a small town so we do not have access to any sort of teaching hospital without a long trip that my dad is not really able to make right now. PLEASE will someone answer my question with their opinion, or the time frame they use for surgery in these instances. We just feel like we need input from a surgeon who is just reading the facts and what he/she would do in this instance as far as how long to wait for him to go into surgery.
Avatar m tn The local doctors diagnosed as congenital cataract, but said it is beyond their ability to treat. The patient is 46 years old. The local doctors said that he would gradually lose sight and become blind. I would like to see if the MedHelp community can kindly provide some suggestions on how to get help. Any place for a second opinion? Thanks a lot!
Avatar f tn org/user_journals/show/332520/Clinical-Trials-and-Medical-Research-in-Hep-C It also looks like UT and Baylor have teaching hospitals there so you should check with them to see if they have any programs that might be able to help you out.
Avatar f tn Most girls are not fully developed at 14. Your figure will come just maintain a healthy lifestyle and remember everyone is shaped differently. For example, my mom has a thin athletic figure with a small chest. I'm curvy, carry more muscle and kinda busty. Remember not to compare yourself with others too much because every healthy body is different and beautiful. I've been teaching middle school for nearly a decade and can guarantee you'll look different in a few years.
Avatar m tn s usually where clinical trials take place, in larger teaching or research hospitals. Not always...but the major ones like Telaprevir etc, would be most likely to happen there. Cory posted a link for clinicaltrials.gov and you can browse there by location and see what's happening near you. I don't know what it's like in the U.S.
2063887 tn?1337829746 I was told the deep hip pain is caused by a deep spasm so close to the bone that you cannot see, but it is a spasm. Forget the technical name. Metaxalone was prescribed for me and it helps about 80% of the pain. I hope I answered your question, feel free to ping me if you have any more. I'm also in the MS community forum, and you can search Tysabri in the search field in that forum. We've had a ton of discussions on the drug. :) Hope you feel better soon!
1628149 tn?1299785675 you can call the manufacturers of the HCV drugs to see if you’ll qualify for patient assistance; they often provide the drugs free of charge for those that are uninsured. However, they don’t cover doctor’s care, labs, procedure costs, etc.

Avatar f tn I'm a student nurse and my patient came back from x ray so I had to hook him back up to his iv. He was on a Pca pump too and his lines were all Co fusing. I accidentally unhooked the pca pumps from the main iv tubing and the dilaudid splashed out all in my face and eyes. Should I be worried about contracting anything in this scenerio. I did not see any visible blood in his iv tubing.
Avatar n tn Chronically low hemoglobin levels mean that the patient needs a thorough workup at a competent teaching hospital to evaluate all possibilities.
