Metaxalone narcotic

Common Questions and Answers about Metaxalone narcotic

skelaxin

Avatar m tn X-ray revealed nothing, and I have been through chiropractic and physical therapy with marginal relief at best ( ~ 24 hours.) medications used include metaxalone, valium and ibuprofen. stiffness has remained constant, w/ a reduced ROM when flexing my neck laterally. I also occasionally experience shooting pain up the left side of my neck when i rotate my head in that direction. Neck remains inflamed and "cracks" often.
Avatar f tn Isn't there a law that states a doctor who gives you narcotic pain meds for several years then discharges you, that he has to, at least, write you out a prescription for one month so you can find another doctor?
Avatar f tn After reading your post it gives me some hope. Thank you and congrats to being 90+days clean. Can you please tell me how you did it. What sort of habit did you have and how did you get off of them? Did you do a taper plan or just go cold turkey? Excuse me for asking so many questions its just that I need as much info as possible. I wasn't strong enough this morning when I woke up, I was throwing up and had gone the whole night in and out of sleep so I took the last two I had.
Avatar m tn Methadone is still a narcotic, and does nothing for pain, right? That sounds like the exact opposite of what I need?
Avatar f tn t remember what it felt lilke to feel normal without narcotic opiates. i could not remember what it felt like to not have to plan my week (life) around where and when i would get my next "batch"... that is no way to live your one and only life. opioids grab hold of you and grab hold of your life. they take away your social life and all your money. remember when a few 5mg vicodin would make you feel invincible and ultra-energetic?
Avatar f tn I would not be able to deal with an acute attack (while functioning in my job) without strong narcotic medication. In addition, I use some narcotic medication for the chronic pain (but I try to keep that to a minimum... use things like tramadol instead of oxycodone.) Here is my advise regarding your question. Only you can determine your level of pain.
Avatar f tn Narcotic bowel syndrome (NBS) is a subset of opioid bowel dysfunction that is characterized by chronic or frequently recurring abdominal pain that worsens with continued or escalating dosages of narcotics. This syndrome is underrecognized and may be becoming more prevalent. In the United States this may be the result of increases in using narcotics for chronic nonmalignant painful disorders, and the development of maladaptive therapeutic interactions around its use.
Avatar n tn Doesnt matter that the excedrin has the caffeine and acetaminophen. It needs the narcotic (dihydrocodeine) or equivalent to keep you from getting sick. I would try 800mg ibuprophen and...alternate heat and cold for the pain. Good luck to you also.......
Avatar f tn There is a herb called kratom that is being studied to help narcotic addiction. Kratom has a slight opiate feel but isn't as strong as opium and the chemical make up is very different. Kratom withdrawal is way less severe, might help with narcotic withdrawal symptoms.
2063887 tn?1337829746 I was told the deep hip pain is caused by a deep spasm so close to the bone that you cannot see, but it is a spasm. Forget the technical name. Metaxalone was prescribed for me and it helps about 80% of the pain. I hope I answered your question, feel free to ping me if you have any more. I'm also in the MS community forum, and you can search Tysabri in the search field in that forum. We've had a ton of discussions on the drug. :) Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn Neither Skelaxin (metaxalone) nor Celebrex (celecoxib) cause dependence. Your body will not crave either medication. You will not develop tolerance to either medication, nor will you suffer withdrawal symptoms in their absence. The usual dose of Skelaxin is 800mg every 6 to 8 hours (three or four times a day). Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and don't mix Skelaxin with alcohol, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants.
Avatar f tn Who else out there has or is using Fentanyl narcotic patches? My withdrawals have been horrible. I was using them for about 18 months @ 50 mg. Changing them every three days. I stopped using them 11 days ago and switched to just Percocet and I then put myself on a three week tapering off plan. I plan to be narcotic free my September 15th!
Avatar m tn hopefully to get a second opinion about everything concerning my knees and back. The only thing I am worrying about right now is that I signed a Narcotic Contract with my PCP 2 years ago. When I looked up the forms on the PM's website; he had one as well. If I see this PM on Monday; wouldnt I be breaking the contract with my PCP?? I mean, I am really worried about this.
Avatar n tn I went off of my Narcotic Rx on January 9th, 2011. I went through 21 days of the acute withdrawals consisting of nausea, vomiting, hot and cold sweats, etc.. The next phase included general weakness, fatigue, and 8 weeks of severe anxiety and perspiration (actually started sweating under arms like I did when I was going through puberty for no reason at all, but the sweating was profuse). The sweating ended after 8 weeks and then severe depression set in.
Avatar m tn CT scan didn’t show anything so I’m getting a Colonoscopy in about two weeks and if that doesn’t show anything then I might have Narcotic Bowel Syndrome however I don’t have the system they describe just the pain. So if the Colonoscopy doesn’t show anything I figure I have to get off of the Vicodin. But how do I do that when in so much pain? Any suggestions. I’m really deprecated and worried.
Avatar f tn I just got switched to metaxalone 800mg and i cant say if they are better or worse than flexeril as they dont seem to affect me either. I am afraid to take more than two since they are 800mg but it might affect me, if it doesnt work i think i will switch back to flexeril as i feel safer taking a higher dose, honestly just because of the size of the metaxalone pills, which i know means nothing but I heard flexeril is the strongest so if something will help maybe that will.
Avatar m tn Just saw a posting where someone said Ativan is not a narcotic, I do know that it is a controlled substance but I thought it was a narcotic also. Can anyone tell me what is correct?
513154 tn?1340225289 Tramadol is not classified as a narcotic, however, it is as close to narcotic as any other narcotic, so if you are looking for a non-habit forming drug or something with less side effect from a narcotic, Ultram/tramadol may not be the route to take. NSAID have been shown to be effective with osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn I am glad this question got posed as I had the same question. I use my Fentanyl patch as prescribed. I feel blessed that it works. I was once on a pain pump, it failed, that was a nightmare!!!!!! I got tired of being a slave to daily oral narcotics/opiates, if I missed one the withdrawal symptoms came fast. I voluntarily withdrew from morphine sulphate just to see what was under the bandaid. The pain was so bad ! I had no energy, no motivation to do anything.
1508698 tn?1360215710 The migraines are the reason I started taking pills. I was wondering if anyone knew a good non narcotic pain medication.
