Avatar n tn Nice information….Memory loss can be partial or total and it is normal when it comes with aging. Sudden memory loss is usually a result of brain trauma and it may be permanent or temporary. The most worrying symptoms are not those related to things that people forget to do. Some patients may have problems in mixing up words for objects or can have trouble understanding or taking part in a conversation. Prevention in what concerns memory loss is whatsoever limited.
1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar n tn You need to give these perversions and fantasies a break and do not feel guilty. Try to concentrate on studies with commitment. The causes of memory loss can be aging, alzheimer’s disease, trauma, side effects of certain drugs, etc. the loss which has occurred cannot be reliably reversed but further can be prevented.
Avatar n tn Nice post…Many menopausal women complain of memory changes. Moreover, loss of concentration, forgetfulness, memory loss and poor memory retrieval in menopause may be experienced by women in their perimenopause stage too. Memory is the ability to bring information back into one's thoughts while concentration is the ability to focus one's attention or thought to one point successfully.
Avatar n tn What has gotten worse however is his apathy, muscle loss, depression and short term memory loss.... He was on prednisone for 10 years --on and off (but mostly on) and stopped it 5-6 months ago for asthma. He also has copd, and type II diabetes. he says he has no problems with memory but I can tell he is uncomfortable with the subject so perhaps it partially denial? He didn't remember being in the hospital with pancreatitus... but remembered it several days later when asked...
Avatar m tn Hi, I hope you get more responses because I'd like to know the same thing. I really don't thing they cause Alzheimer's or Dementia but memory loss can be quite varied in degree. I've been on Xanax .5mg for anxiety, agitation, depression for about 2 years. About 6 months ago I've found that my memory is profound compounded by disorientation. Like you, I lose things break china and glassware regularly. Don't know the day of the week the date and even the time of day.
Avatar m tn It’s entirely possible that at least some of the symptoms we attribute to “normalaging – such as memory loss, cognitive decline, decreased mobility, etc. – are at least in part caused by B12 deficiency. Why is B12 deficiency so under-diagnosed? B12 deficiency is often missed for two reasons. First, it’s not routinely tested by most physicians. Second, the low end of the laboratory reference range is too low. This is why most studies underestimate true levels of deficiency.
Avatar n tn I had a TIA in 2006 but seem to still be experiencing some memory loss. I still forget common words fairly frequently and sometimes my thought patterns feel confused. Is this a normal side effect of a TIA? My doctors told me there is no brain damage and thus no side effects but I seem to experience them. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Particularly this long after a TIA? In response to another post, my MIAs showed nothing as well.
Avatar m tn I read awhile back that garlic creates memory loss. I stored the document,But I cant remember where I put it. LOL. seriously though I felt bummed when I reading this for it is a miracle food. Has anyone heard of Black Garlic? supposedly many times stronger and healthier than regular and is now considered a superfood. Supposedly easy to make (ferment). Please let me know. I have been scared to try because of the memory loss thing.
10169340 tn?1415846161 I have posted here before and never thought of to ask, I have CM1 and CCI ( still waiting on insurance to approve surgery) but have had in the past year really bad short term memory loss as well as the dizziness...does anyone else have this? I have been to several doctors since August a headace specialist and a NS ..They say it is not related to the Chiari...but could not tell me what it is from...and honestly the 2 of them could not get me out of their office fast enough.
Avatar f tn Hello mich41 This only reflects that there have been some aging changes like premature atrophy. This can be dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Any other neurological deficient? Any memory loss? I suggest that consult a nneurologist to start with multi vitamins and anti oxidants to minimize and allay the neurological deficit.
Avatar n tn My husband has been on the treatment for almost seven months he has another five to go. Does the memory loss get better after the treatment has ended. What does anyone suggest he can do vitamin wise and food wise etc to feel better.
Avatar m tn I have had sleep apnea for many years and recently I have been experiencing short periods of memory loss . I will be doing something then I will forget what I was doing or where I am . It only lasts for 5 to 15 seconds then I am back to normal and I remember what I was doing and where I am. I am able to function during these episodes . It seems to happen when I am relaxed as apposed to when I am concentrating on something. Any idea as to what is happening ?

Avatar m tn Hello, I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and severe and mod stenosis. I've been doing rather well considering that they told me I would be in a wheel chair by now. Anyway I wondered if anyone else with this diagnosis has had problems with memory? My Nurse practitioner said it's normal then my wife looked it up and couldn't find anything on it. The memory loss that is. Nor could I. Any one know or have information on this topic?

Avatar n tn A certain amount of short-term memory loss at that age can be related to nothing more than being distracted or disinterested or having other things on her mind. If that is the case, calling attention to it creates unnecessary distress. The idea of taking supplements is a good idea for everyone at that age.
