Avatar f tn After finishing up with surgery, 4 rounds of chemo & 30 rounds of radiation I am now taking Femara. I am wondering if this drug in any way effects the memory, or thought process. I have been having a lot of memory loss and confusion when speaking. It's like I know what I want to say but sometimes can't seem get the correct words out. Any help would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn Nice post…Many menopausal women complain of memory changes. Moreover, loss of concentration, forgetfulness, memory loss and poor memory retrieval in menopause may be experienced by women in their perimenopause stage too. Memory is the ability to bring information back into one's thoughts while concentration is the ability to focus one's attention or thought to one point successfully.
4748604 tn?1358706782 Memory loss can come from many things. ADD/ADHD, Alzheimer's, being oxygen deprived for too long, depression, anxiety, menopause, iron deficiency...the list goes on. You must see a doctor and have testing done in order to figure out what the cause is.
Avatar n tn Our goal is to correct the hypothyroid response in a weight loss patient and return him/her to normal metabolism so that the patient feels normal and is better able to lose weight and maintain that loss.
Avatar n tn If menory is memory then it's a big time yes to lapses at least in perimenopause (I haven't made it to menopause quite yet). In addition to the memory issues I've also had problems finding words, I saw it referred to once as "losing one's vowels" and I love that analogy.

1899331 tn?1321479699 I have been having pains in my lower shin and irregular menstrual cycles. I thought I was going through menopause, being 54. I had hot flushes last Christmas for the first time but none since. Periods irregular last year but more regular this year but much much heavier than ever before. Heard this was normal for menopause. Now I hear irregular menses is a symptom of hypthyroidism. Am I in menopause or not? Have had severe abdominal pain about four times this year.
18070169 tn?1463175914 I have never had it before my surgery, I am normally a pretty calm person never have extreme PMS or mood swings. Not sure I am going through menopause as I am 50 and my sister started at 50 as well. But I don't want to go on hormone therapy and risk cancer of any kind (I am little paranoid of cancer). Is there anything out there that is natural that can help with the anxiety? Have others dealt with this after surgery? Just going nuts and need a little sanity check.
Avatar f tn However my symptoms are all still there. Tingly and numb fingers, weepy, irritable, memory loss, hair loss and exhausted all the time. How long will it take for these to improve? Also should I take a folic acid supplement to improve the folate, would this help with my symptoms? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I honestly beleive that women who are going thru menopause and have mood changes are because of loss of sleep. but thats my opinion.

Avatar m tn Hot flashes, paranoia, anxiety, irrational, memory loss, withdrawn from friends and no contact with family outside of the immediate family, Plays mario kart 8-to-10 hours a day, has greatly reduced her cooking to the point where the kids complain about being hungry and she doesn't talk to me, except to complain about me or one of the kids. She won't seek treatment, doesn't admit to anything being wrong, and will not go to counseling either with me or without me.
Avatar f tn that and along with the use of the (bioidentical only) progesterone will affect the thryoid. Menopause and thyroid issues go hand in hand. Geez...is it just the women in the throws of menopause who know all this? Foggy thinking...trouble concentrating. All can be hormonally related....I have tons of stories to share about this from my own experience and that of my friends. I will go and write a message to you now.

Avatar n tn Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery. They found that short-term confusion, memory loss, and poorer problem solving and information processing are common after bypass surgery, but are usually temporary and reversible. Most people return to their pre-bypass level of function between 3 and 12 weeks after surgery.
Avatar f tn But this forgetfulness is too much stressful for me and affecting my work and peace of mind. Even my parents are complaining and blaming me all the time for this. Could this be depression? I have a very demanding and insecure job in NGO sector, which involves on an average 15 days travel per month in different countries. I have a difficult life, with broken marriage and parents with extreme fragile health. I try my best to take care of them and I live with them.

Avatar f tn Vicki gave you some good advice about speaking with our Dr. The memory loss and confusion is very understandable taking ativan and going through wd. actually the ativan should be tapered. it is notorious for memory loss complete wipe out. usually through drinking with them but if you are dehydrated and coming off opiates it is very probable. Congratulations on getting clean and learning about your addiction and the meds that feed it. Take good care of yourself.
Avatar n tn I am willing to lose some of my memory fro the past in order to better enjoy and plan my future. I consider most memory loss as a cognitive thing and it is definitely a physiological and psychological thing. Bipolar plays a part but it would take me all night to explain why but a lot of it is nature vs nurture.
Avatar n tn Some patients may have problems in mixing up words for objects or can have trouble understanding or taking part in a conversation. Prevention in what concerns memory loss is whatsoever limited. Sudden memory loss cannot be prevented but patients who experience the symptoms of memory loss due to aging may keep their brain cells healthy and active with different exercises and dietary supplements.
