meloxicam with advil

Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..

I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Meloxicam is considered a strong Motrin, but this meloxicam knocked me out for 24 hours. My husband was soon prescribed it and he also hated it. You cannot drive or read, just sleep. Meloxicam is a pain killer, very strong, and doctors are acting like it is just motrin. It is not. It puts you in a coma.

Hi there! I was just prescribed meloxicam 15mg for arthritis along with prilosec for acid reflux. I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.

I read your post with interest because I am prescribed Meloxicam. It has not caused me any trouble. As said above, probably the dose changes on the other meds causing trouble.

However if one is allergic to aspirin, meloxicam may be used with caution. If it has been prescribed by your doctor you may take it; otherwise I would suggest avoiding it. Hope this helps. Take care!

The problem with the migraines after 3 mos is that I take Meloxicam in the am. It's a super strong anti inflammatory that I can't take anything else with it, except a baby aspirin in the evenings. **sighs** I'll just pray that I don't get the migraines, because this will be a major problem. I also found out from my rheumy that my parathyroid test came back slightly low. He said it was of no clinical significance, but he'd be keeping an eye on it...

I was on Mobic for a year or so and never had any issues besides stomach pain (which any NSAID's can cause) I get stomach pain with any NSAID's. Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex.

But, I suspect that it was, since I was perfectly healthy before starting the Meloxicam (with the exception of minor back pain in the morning associated with osteoarthritis). Also, I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon after all of my tests came back normal from the Neurologist and Primary Care Physician.

I have been on Meloxicam for about 4 months and have gained 20 pounds and i feel swollen. I am also on highblood pressure meds. I just quit taking the Meloxicam. Does anyone know if the weight goes away? How long does it take for bloated feeling to go away?

I broke my ribs about 10 months ago. I have been on 5mg vicodins since then. I have changed doctors and she won't prescribe the vicodin anymore. She prescribed me meloxicam (normally used to treat arthiritis?). What can I expect from this drug? Is it stronger and does it work better than prescription-strength naproxin? What kind of side-effects does it have? Does it affect your mood like vicodin does? I'm just wondering about other people's experiences with this drug. thanks.

It is now almost January (7 months ) later and we are still dealing with this with NO answers. She is on Meloxicam daily to manage the pain. She will have a good two or three weeks then a bad few days then the cycle repeats itself. She had strep throat Nov 16 which she took all the medicine and the symptoms went away. I had to rush her to the er Sunday night because all of a sudden her head felt like it was being squeezed and she was being stabbed in the ears.

Is it possible that Meloxicam could have eased my depression? I was on Meloxicam for a couple of weeks (for back pain) and noticed a huge improvement in my mood. Was this just a coincidence?

advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma

Danie i agree with you!! I don't like Tylenol. It doesn't work for me at all. Advil does the job.

do not take over 15mg of meloxicam daily and do not take other nsaids with it at all....if you must take another pain med then take tylenol....this what my doctor told me....and eat something before you take it also....
