Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take.
Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
I was on Mobic for a year or so and never had any issues besides stomach pain (which any NSAID's can cause) I get stomach pain with any NSAID's. Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex.
I am in a lot of back and joint pain. I am going to see my pain management doctor today. I take meloxicam for arthritis and I think I'm going to ask for a change. I have been told that Celebrex and Indomethacin is a good non narcotic combination. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
for restless legs, try stretching your hamstrings for a few minutes several times a day, esp before bed. otherwise, try a nsaid like meloxicam for the other symptoms in case of swelling around irritated nerve roots in your neck and back. Your doctor may be able to give you a free sample of a meloxicam, a Celebrex...assuming you've already tried all the weak over-the-counter stuff.
My doctor has had me on a trial perscription of pms-meloxicam, having already tried celebrex and naproxin. The meloxicam has been excellent for my feet and elbow but over the past two weeks my knee has taken a turn for the worse. As a matter of fact I found this forum this morning because I am home from work after being up all night with a throbbing pain and my mobility this morning is terrible. Even putting pants on was a challenge. I was wondering how quickly your knee pain progressed?
i have addisons disease so I have to take steroids everyday, for the past year I have been on loestrin 24 e and also I was on celebrex but have since switched to meloxicam. I've been reading a lot about how birth control can cause depression and anxiety even after being on it for quite some time. Lately I am so anxious and depressed it's ruling my life. I can't make it through the day without crying and have since become afraid of being by myself in my house.
Do you know anything about the long term risks of daily bd 7.5mg Meloxicam ... or can find out and send me ... I can only stay on here for short periods ... typing in punishing.
Lately even talking [that was my profession for 30+ yr as a therapist] is painful as my saliva dries out and mouth is like parchment .... even with sipping water... right down my gullet dries and burns ... as well as in through mucus membranes of my ear canals with burning round back of my ears and base of my skull.

I have recently done quite a bit of research on meloxicam for myself. Because it takes up to 2 weeks for your blood plasma levels to even reach a beneficial amount of meloxicam, I'm gonna "guess" that it's the reduction in klonopin (or some other med you may be reacting to.
Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.
I have been on Meloxicam for about 4 months and have gained 20 pounds and i feel swollen. I am also on highblood pressure meds. I just quit taking the Meloxicam. Does anyone know if the weight goes away? How long does it take for bloated feeling to go away?
I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
I also take meloxicam, and tylenol is about the only thing that I know of that can be taken in conjunction with it. You still need to be careful not to take more than the prescribed dosages, though.
I believe there were studies done recently that showed too many people take over the counter tylenol, believing it's safe - too much of it is hard on the liver. Most people really only need one regular strength tylenol, not two extra strength.
Anyway, that got a little off topic.
Is there anyone who is taking Meloxicam that would know how much aspirin is in it? I am allergic to aspirin and just read the printout from the pharmacy. Can't call my dr till Mon. and think maybe I shouldn't take it. On the other hand my dr knows I'm allergic to aspirin. Hoping someone may know.
I have gained a considerable amount of weight will taking Meloxicam. Once I stop taking will the weight come off??
Up until February, I had been on opiates for a few years. Norco along with Celebrex and Robaxin (muscle relaxer). I had more side effects from all the NSAID's I was on before my insurance would finally approve Celebrex, than I did with the Norco. The only side effect I had with Norco was nausea with vomiting only when it got really bad. But that was only if I took it on an empty stomach. But the pain relief outweighed the nausea because I took an anti histamine to counter act it.
Every symptom disappeared and its been 40 days now and Im doing just great.... I feel healthy...!!! I dont know if it was the CELEBREX or the hydrodistention that helped but I was back at normal..
I just dont wanna accept the fact that I have IC and Im living with the fear the symptoms will appear again... What I wanted to ask is this: is it possible that my bladder just got inflammated due to the overdistention (my holding my urine in) and that this is not IC?
Since lupus can affect the internal organs, I would take her to see another rheumie until you find one that will try something other than or in addition to an NSAID like meloxicam. (I also take meloxicam, but in conjunction with three other meds for RA that go after the disease process itself, not just treating the symptoms like meloxicam alone).
Blood work is only one of many diagnostic tools, not the yes-or-no definitive answer.
