maxalt

655875 tn?1295695107 I herniated 3 discs with spinal cord compression, but had the disc decompressed off of the nerve, leaving the spinal cord permanently damaged. Since the onset of the injury is when the migraines occured daily. Should I not take anything for the headaches and hope for the best? These headaches are driving me crazy. I did start a daily sinus wash yesterday to see if this is in fact sinus or allergies.
Avatar f tn t see why maxalt would be a contender for treatment of chiari induced headache. Just based on the mechanism of action of the drug I feel it could be quite dangerous. Diamox (acetazolamide) has some off label uses but I am still combing through the limited publications on the subject and wouldn't suggest it unless u had very specific imaging and symptoms. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn My personal physician prescribed Maxalt which greatly improved the onset of headaches when I read or am exposed to loud sounds or lights (overhead or outdoors--I always were sunglasses now.) However, I cannot taste anything sweet--grape juice taste like bad wine and 7-up taste like salty carbonated water. What can I do or stop doing to return to normal? I have stopped taking my pain pills for my back problem (Meloxicam and Tramadol) and only take my blood pressure and thyroid meds.
1817265 tn?1317302747 t work (which it does most of the time), then I take the other half. You are supposed to take it at the onset of a migraine otherwise it gets so bad that the meds are not as effective. Talk to your dr ASAP! And congratulations on your blessing!!!
Avatar f tn About thirty minutes after this onset I would get the vice crushing headache that felt like my brain was swelling against my skull while somebody was crushing my head. I’d get nauseated and throw up multiple times. The pain would somewhat be lessened by pushing hard against my temples to create a separate pain to try to distract me, but then it would return even worse. Usually lasted for 8-10 hours before the “migraine hangover” started.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. First of all, those of you who suffer head pains and get the "pass off" from your doctors have my greatest empathy. Two years ago, my husband had a sudden onset of atypical "migraines" after he had a severe sinus infection breach into his brain, causing meningitis. All of his life he had sinus issues from allergies, but that particular infection was "pushed" by a sudden increase in barometric pressure from crossing over a high mountain pass.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used Remeron for depression, while taking Maxalt for their migraines? I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue. Sadly, the police & EMT's didn't have just cause to bring her to the hospital. I'm at my wits end. Thanks for any help.

Avatar f tn Try the imatrex subcutaneous injections they are fast acting, non of the fillers and crap I suspect the pills have and it sounds like your insurance is worried about the cost of maxalt, well they will crap when they have to put out for the injections and in my 25 years of my living hell, they are the best, hands down, fit for god himself.
887907 tn?1243586547 I am also have Hypothyroidism and have been taking 1.37 mcg of Levothyroxine and Lovastation 40 mg since the onset of my problems. I also take Maxalt but most of the time it does not work for most of my head pains. I was perfectly healthy and weighed 165 lbs before the onset and now I weigh 137 lbs at 6 ft tall, I enclosed some MRI pictures to see if a full ACM evaluation looks warranted.
Avatar f tn The symptoms terrified me as I had never had one before it was as if some one had splashed dark water across my vision which turned into blind spots they proceded to my peripheral vison in both eyes with all sorts of scintallating scotomas of all colours after that I had tingling down my left side and face the worst headache pain I had ever experienced and total confusion on my direction on where I was going i.e.
655875 tn?1295695107 Right now I'm on my 7th migraine in the last 4 weeks. I have a herniated c5-7 that is compressing on the spinal cord. I've been taking Maxalt with some of my migraines, which does help, but insurance only allows so many in a month and they are expensive. I've been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
Avatar n tn If your Doctor is aware of the potential side effects of Tramadol and Maxalt and you are being closely monitored, then I apologize for alarming you. If not, you definitely need to talk to him/her about it. Should you decide to discontinue one of these drugs before speaking with your Doctor, the Maxalt would be the one. Don't stop taking the Tramadol. It has to be tapered down.
Avatar n tn I take about 3 of them if I second guess my migraine and wait too long but if I catch it at the onset 1 works fine. I also take Elavil every night before bed for maintenance. Good luck, by the way, the side effects are minimal for me, I can still carry on driving, working, even fine at school and clinical. I do let my teachers know that I took it during clinical however because patient safety is my first concern.
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar m tn Yes, the prescription medication is called a triptan... or triptans are a class of medication and examples of triptans are sumatriptan (brand name imitrex), zomig, maxalt, axert... well those are just to name a few. And yes, they are migraine medication and you take them at the first signs of the migraine, the SS, and it will stop the SS as long as you take it at the very first signs that it is starting. You can get it prescribed by a neurologist or your family doctor.
5848391 tn?1380728642 Doctors tried Topamax for prevention and Maxalt for immediate onset. This helped but has not cured. I have come off this medication since then. I have tried changing my diet. The diet change really has helped a lot but it's really hard especially when you just really want that candy, etc. It's not just candy either. I am looking into going to a new doctor soon. I hope you get the answers you are searching for.
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
Avatar n tn i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?
Avatar m tn The onset of action ranges from 45 minutes - 1 ½ hours, and the duration of action is six hours. Diazepam carries a bi-phasic half-life of 20-50 hours (for Diazepam), and 30-200 hours (for Desmethyldiazepam). Valium is indicated for the long-term management of generalized anxiety and tension-anxiety. Tolerance will not develop to the anxiolytic property of Diazepam, although tolerance will develop to the sedative/hypnotic property.
