I've performed massage on my horse and my dogs, and it really does work wonders. If you decide to try it out, go very lightly at first - particularly if your dog has arthritis. The reactions can be really funny too. Most of my dogs loved it immediately, but one took a while to accept it. She would look at me like, "What on EARTH do you think you're doing?!

Avatar m tn Hi My Staff has Cushings, and I was wondering, since the sagging belly is simply a muscle tone problem, has anybody tried massage or anything else to try to tone it up on their Cushing dogs? His is so bad now his spine is pushing up on his skin and it looks really painful :( I'm sure it's not helping his depression.
1184961 tn?1292574076 Yes & it does help, only it's expensive. My husband has been unemployed for 2 years so we have to cut back on expenses. I do get the massages when I can though. I wish I could get them on a regular basis. I failed to say that I also havae fibromyalgia so the massages does wonders for that when I can get them regularly. I haev 2 friends who are massage therapists who do give me discounts right now, so I am blessed in that respect. Thanks for reminding me of this.

Avatar n tn I did not develop Lymphodema after my cancer treatment but because I was having radiation to the bowel, I was seeing a physio for prevention techniques to stop it happening and if it did happen how to manage it. (I had my pelvic lymph nodes removed during my hysterectomy). If you see your doctor and get him to refer you to a physiotherapist that is experienced in lymphatic drainage massage they will be able to show you and treat you with massage that you can actually do at home.

740456 tn?1260449809 We took a roadtrip this weekend to visit some of my boyfriends family. We ended up leaving the dogs in the car for a bit while we were visiting one of his relatives. One of his adult cousins went up to the car to look at the dogs and Roxy went CRAZY. She was barking and growling and showing her teeth. As soon as she saw me walking up to the car, she stopped. I opened the door and let her out and there was NO more aggression whatsoever.

Avatar n tn Your first concern should be the safety of other dogs your dog comes into contact with. Our dogs were attacked about a month ago by a loose dog. They were injured and so was I and I will tell you that even for a professional it was a very traumatic experience. So step one is not to allow your dog in situations where she can come in direct contact with other dogs. This means having a drop-dead secure fence, and never letting your dog off leash for now - leash walks only.
Avatar f tn re very easy to understand, and you can immediately begin using his techniques. You will learn to understand how dogs communicate with one another and recognize exactly what it is that scares your shepherd. Once you recognize the problem, you can help her overcome it. It is so much fun to learn how to "speak dog". As you work together to overcome her issues, your relationship with her (and all other dogs) will change in ways you could never imagine.

Avatar m tn I had a wonderful chiropractor before I moved and he did a lot of massage techniques on me. It provided excellent relief of pain from the many inflamed bunches of muscles I have developed due to Lyme. However, on a couple of occasions I experienced a notable worsening of symptoms within hours of my treatments. He told me that the deep tissue work can stimulate the immune system and that could account for my experience.
Avatar f tn He really enjoyed the massage. We have always massaged our dogs, since they were puppies. Maddux, being 10 is the old man, now. His housemates are a 2 1/2 year old Golden and a 5 mo. old German Shorthair Pointer and Choc. lab mix. The golden ran Maddux crazy until we got the puppy. Now the two younger dogs drive each other crazy and leave Maddie alone. Th suggestion to put him on a leash to take him outside was great, he loves to chase squirrels! So thank you and keep up the good work.
