Common Questions and Answers about Macrobid reaction

macrobid

Avatar f tn I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.
1795943 tn?1315540019 s obvious that you have developed an allergic reaction to Macrobid. You can have an allergic reaction to a drug even if it caused no reaction in the past. The most common signs of a drug allergy are hives, rash, facial swelling or fever. If you have an allergic reaction to a drug, it causes the release of histamine and other chemicals that cause allergic symptoms. Your immune system then becomes keyed to react the same way if you take the drug again in the future.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a minor UTI (my first one ever) about 8 days ago. They gave me a three day dose of Macrobid - which I did not consume. I am too afraid. I am allergic to the cillins (anaphylaxis), and have had a horrible reaction to quinones. Every time I thought about putting that little Macrobid in my mouth, I would start to panic. The following day, without the Macrobid, my symptoms were much improved. The day after that - even better.
Avatar f tn e,, The UTIs are probably contributing to a relapse and docs solution to the UTI is macrobid - aah, and then benadryl to try to quell the reaction to the macrobid! No wonder you are at your wits end. My suggestion is to look the doc dead in the eye and demand another antibiotic for the UTI. Tell he/she you are willing to take your chances on another med. How long does the numbness and loss of function last each time?
Avatar f tn I thought it might just be an allergic reaction to Macrobid and did what I normally do when I have an allergic reaction, take a prednisone prescription (pill form). The rash healed on my crotch, but I still get mild hives on my chest, neck, face, hands/arms, hips, and legs. (I probably get no more than 30 hives/day, mostly on my chest, hands and arms.) I also am taking Zyrtec and have been taking this for a week. I was taking benadryl originally for the itching.
Avatar f tn So he prescribed me Cipro (stopped after 1 dose due to a reaction) and now on Bactrim (7/10 dose now). I feel like **** for the first three days and today feel more energy but the right side urethra urination pain is still here and feeling worse. Anyone experience this or have a clue what this is? Thanks!
551604 tn?1333983135 ve been pregnant except for Benadryl for an allergic reaction and Tylenol for a headache. I would assume if your doctor prescribed, they know you are pregnant, so it should be fine.
Avatar n tn It starts out like a red discoloration on the skin and progresses to small open sores, not blisters. She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it.
Avatar f tn I went to GP, he prescribed me a bunch of antibiotics (Cipro, Bactrim, Macrobid), none of them work. Fast forward, went to see my GYN, she did a urethral swab and urine culture. My right part of urethra feels tender per GYN. The swab for STD/STI were negative. However, my urine came back positive for E.Coli. So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain.
Avatar f tn DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED.
Avatar f tn Naturally I was afraid to go on it because this was the first antibiotic i have taken in about 5 years, since I had an allergic reaction to penicillon which was deadly. So I strted the macrobid and I felt decent for the first 4 days. Just a little tired but nothing I could not handle. around the 5th day I noticed I had hightened anxiety in the middle of the day and night where I just started to panic and thinking about my future and just kind of feeling hopeless out of the blue.

1470662 tn?1287789856 m not sure if the pain would/could also be an allergic reaction or not - I do know that one time when I was prescribed Macrobid (also an antibiotic) after my hysterectomy, every time I would take it, I would start running a high fever (between 103-104) and have horrible muscle aches. I called my doctor and they told me to immediately stop the medication and to never take it again - apparently that IS a sign of an allergy to that particular medication.
Avatar f tn I recently finished a week long treatment of macrobid. I am experiencing spotting. How long does this last? https://www.ehealthme.
285848 tn?1219092313 So she went to her OB for her follow up and he prescribed her 7 day macrobid. Well within 24 hours of taking it she started to feel weird, her legs were hurting her really bad and it was getting hard to breath. She complained that it felt like someone was sitting on her chest and it hurt to take deep breathes. She ended up going to the ER because my dad said it kind of sounded like an allergic reaction. Well he turned out to be right.
Avatar f tn I'm 10 weeks and I have a UTI. ER doctor prescribed me Macrobid 100mg BID for ten days. Have any one taken this while pregnant? I googled it, and there were a lot of horror stories......just curious to see if others have taken, and there pregnancy remained normal...

666089 tn?1260520261 i was just given macrobid by my doctor to treat a bladder infection. i know that he wouldnt give me something that would be harmful, and not treating it would be more harmful then taking medications .. i would just like to hear if anyone eles has taken this medication for a uti and if they had any side effects with it? i tryed to look for infromation on the net about it but there were to many mixed reviews on this... or is there any other safer drugs you've take for uti's?
Avatar m tn The urinalysis that was sent to the lab showed that their was a tiny bacteria but they werent sure if this was due to cross contamination. My questions are below, the dr took put me on macrobid saying this may help my issue. 1 Prescribed Macrrobid which I believe has Helped, Would this cure NGU? From what I read Macrobid is generally given for UTI's which im hoping is what I have. The dr never mentioned NGU to me .
Avatar f tn I'm 52 and was prescribed macrobid for a UTI. Shortly after taking it I started having really severe heart palpitations. I have had them off and on since I was 29 and have been told it's probably due to my hypoglycemia. I'm very sensitive to certain medications and I looked this one up and it says it should not be prescribed to older people who have a debilitating condition. I am extremely anemic and may have internal bleeding in my intestinal area. My dr.
