Cipro is iffy for both Chlamydia and Enterococcus infections. Ask your Doctor to be sure that the Enterococcus is not a resistent strain , as this is becoming more of a problem, especially here in the US. I hope you are well soon. Take care.
I went to Urgent Care and cuture grew E coli and I took Macrobid which did not work and then Cipro. A short time later, pain returned and I went to my PCP and culture grew Strep for which I took Keflex. Still having pain, I had another culture done. This time it grew enterococcus. My doctor game me Ampicillin. I finished the course and went back for culture and it still came back positive for enterococcus.
I went for a repeat urine c+s last week since the previous results were lost, and it was negative for G and C but came back positive for enterococcus faecalis. I told the physician about my exposure, and he recommended treatment with macrobid twice a day x 5 days. I was convinced my symptoms were related to anxiety, so needless to say I was surprised by this result. I can't recall the colony count exactly, but I think it was 20 x 10'6.
I got a urine sample done and they said I had a urinary infection due to something called a Enterococcus for a UTI infection. I was given macrobid tablets for antibiotic.
(However the anal issue was not discussed with my doctor. )

DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
Uti or bladder infection. My doctor proscribed me macrobid. Terrified to take it, anyone else had to use this while pregnant, I'm only 8 weeks!
Has anyone been perscribed, or taken macrobid at the ens of there pregnancy? I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. After that, strep was gone, but e colli was there, so Bactrim was prescribed for 5 days. 3rd time only enterococcus faecalis was reported and nothing was prescribed until after 20days the doctor repeated examination. 4th swab indicated presence of strep b (second time) and enterococcus faecalis, amoxiscilin is prescribed for 8-10 days.

The urinalysis that was sent to the lab showed that their was a tiny bacteria but they werent sure if this was due to cross contamination. My questions are below, the dr took put me on macrobid saying this may help my issue.

I was on macrobid for a UTI at the time of collection (started on macrobid Saturday, had 4 doses by the time of collection on Monday morning, blood work as fasting so last dose taken before blood collection was over 12 hours previously). Does anyone know if macrobid affects eGFR or is this level an induction of possible kidney infection/disease/cancer?
