Macrobid bacteria

Common Questions and Answers about Macrobid bacteria

macrobid

Avatar f tn Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria. Bactrim IS used for UTI's and if it has worked before, why would your doctor not prescribe it? But again, if you are pregnant, it is pregnancy category C. Okay, wait, I see you are 52. We are not talking pregnancy here, right? By all means, you shouldn't have to take Macrobid if you don't feel it is a good choice for you.
Avatar f tn 100% You took an antibiotic which wiped out your good gut bacteria..... Certain things wipe out your bacteria.... Like highly processed foods, alcohol, antibiotics etc...... When you wipe them out you have to replace them or you will get an inflammation response, skin rash irritation etc.... It sounds like your body is screaming for help..
Avatar f tn Antibiotics, while they kill the bad infection causing bacteria, also kill all the good bacteria in your GI tract. They are renowned for causing GI upset. Unfortunately in the case of a UTI stronger broad spectrum antibiotics are usually needed since the bacteria that causes them can be a bit more resistant.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have chronic bladder infections and on long term Macrobid and still get frequent UTIs. I have had 3+ bacteria for the last 2 months despite Cipro and Levaquin. This morning the UTI is back with burning, frequency. They did not do a C&S before Cipro I think because it is always e-coli. What could be wrong with these 2 meds not working?....I am so tired of this pain and burning. I also have had lower back pain and groin pain for the last 2 mos.
187316 tn?1386356682 I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.
Avatar f tn I recently finished a week long treatment of macrobid. I am experiencing spotting. How long does this last? https://www.ehealthme.
Avatar f tn I found out tuesday that i have a pretty horribly UTI after swearing i had a yeast infection. I was put on Macrobid 1 pill twice a day for 7 days. This is day is day 3 of the pills and i was wondering how long until it starts working? i am not in nearly as much pain as I was, but the pain with urination is still there slightly and get worse at night.
Avatar n tn Also been tested for bv and yeast many times, usually negative yet symptoms continue to persist even after antibiotics usually Macrobid or Keflex. I usually feel better after antibiotics but a week later the symptoms will return. I discovered about 2 weeks ago my boyfriend had another partner who he swears was clean about 6 weeks ago. We had intercourse(unprotected) prior to me finding out recently. Around the same time my uti symptoms started up again.
Avatar m tn So anyway she went to the doctor and they said she had a uti, and gave her macrobid. She said they were also doing a urine culture, but its been two weeks and she has not mentioned any results.. Well in less than 48 hours of being on macrobid she said all her symptoms were gone.. MY question is.. Could her bladder infection have been caused by an std (chlamydia, gonorrhea), and if it was would the macrobid have gotten rid of her symptoms or cured it?
Avatar f tn I was then put on 5 days of macrobid (twice day). (During my antibiotics I was still having sex) My last pill was Saturday night (9/17) and I am still suffering from frequent urination. Azo seems to help but I don't want to rely on it. I'm 19 and this is my first UTI ever. Has this happened to anyone else? Where antibiotics stop but urgency doesn't? I should mention I am no longer feeling ANY pain, no burning while urination, no fever, no lowerback pain. Just the need to pee.
Avatar m tn s . The urinalysis that was sent to the lab showed that their was a tiny bacteria but they werent sure if this was due to cross contamination. My questions are below, the dr took put me on macrobid saying this may help my issue. 1 Prescribed Macrrobid which I believe has Helped, Would this cure NGU? From what I read Macrobid is generally given for UTI's which im hoping is what I have. The dr never mentioned NGU to me .
Avatar f tn My doc also told me that I most likely have an infection and she also put me on antibiotics. But when my urine test came back negative, my doc never called me back to tell not to take it. That's good that I didn't! It clearly says take only if you need it..
Avatar f tn I took two rounds of macrobid a 10day and a 7 day. Neither worked for me and I had to get a shot of rocephin. i have no clue if it can effect hcg levels or not.
Avatar f tn I went to the immediate care clinic and they did a culture test and gave me macrobid. The culture test came back negative for bacteria (no UTI) and the antibiotics stopped the urgency but it still burns when I urinate. When my urine is almost clear, the burning sensation stops but then I urinate often due to the excessively large amount of water I’m consuming. If my urine is slightly concerned, like with normal amount of drinking water, I feel a burning sensation during and after urination.
Avatar f tn I tried every antibiotic (cipro, zithromax, amoxicillin, etc.) and macrobid was the only one that killed it. Ever since I have requested macrobid as the others still have failed to work. Now it appears as if macrobid no longer works. Also, for two years I have had blood in my urine (even when I don't have a UTI). I was also diagnosed (when this first recurrent infection occurred) with interstitial cystitis (sp?
Avatar m tn late August felt a sense of stinging at end of penis, then burning when urination. NP did urine test (found bacteria) and 7 days of macrobid....bacteria was gone but week later, still symptoms and after another urine test, it came back clean....but still "burning sensation" within penis. So, NP gave me 2 weeks of bactrim....which did nothing. Went to urologist who did tests on urine, PSA and prostate check...all came back fine. He put me on a month of cipro 500mg.
Avatar n tn i had a bladder infection on 21st of august... I was on macrobid for the infection but when she did the test for bladder infection it showed no bacteria.. just blood and a trace of protein so i guess i was just starting one??? Took the macrobid it made me feel way better.!

Avatar f tn Typically 7-10 days. It just depends on the severity of the infection I had one that took 17 days worth of macrobid and then finally a shot of rocephin before it went away.
Avatar f tn I went to GP, he prescribed me a bunch of antibiotics (Cipro, Bactrim, Macrobid), none of them work. Fast forward, went to see my GYN, she did a urethral swab and urine culture. My right part of urethra feels tender per GYN. The swab for STD/STI were negative. However, my urine came back positive for E.Coli. So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain.
Avatar m tn it’s annoying always have to pee and I can feel it get hot m.. on macrobid because they though uti but my urinalysis came back clean…… this stinks another other recommendations on how to get this fixed..
Avatar f tn Went back to clinic and they tested again, this time the dipstick showed no bacteria. The doc tested for vaginal yeast but there was none so she sent the urine to be cultured and gave me a 7 day scrip of Macrobid. By day 3, the symptoms were 75% gone but then by day 4 they were back. She called on day 5 to say the culture was clear but that it may be a yeast infection that had gotten into the urethra.
Avatar f tn Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid.
Avatar f tn You're having difficulty emptying out your bladder so urine sits there and bacteria thrive causing the infection. Don't be mad it's a common thing in pregnancy. Keep calm and keep your head up.
Avatar n tn This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort. Normally with the use of Cipro I would be on the mend by the end of 3 days. Is there any merit in taking both meds or should I or even can I just switch back to Cipro mid treatment.
Avatar f tn Is there anything I can do for a bad sore throat . I went to my gyn I had a uti he gave me meds macrobid and said it will also help my throat . But I don't see how plus I don't feel comfortable taking meds while I'm pregnant Is there anything I can do without meds ?for UTI and Sore Throat if not did anybody take MACROBID while pregnant ?
Avatar n tn I saw a different doctor a few weeks later and this time in the doctors office it showed WBC so he put me on Macrobid and it made me feel better for like 2 days then not so much. When it was sent out it again came back group b. He put me on amox again for 10 days and then to come back in for another test. It showed no WBC at the office. When sent out it came back with some real low counts of bacteria I guess. He said it would read as a negative? But I still had the symptoms I always had.
