Molecularly speaking the designers of the Lotepredenol Etabonate molecule (Lotemax's active ingredient) removed the Ketone group from prednisolone molecule and replaced it with an Ester carbon creating an Ester Corticosteroid also know as a site-specific corticosteroid.
Might also want to rule out thyroid disease. Lotemax is probably not something you want to be on long term since it is a moderately strong steroid. I suggest looking in to taking a daily multivitamin, adding a good amount of fish oil and flaxseed oil supplent, avoid lots of wind, dust, sunlight,ceiling fans, and dry hot air. Look into allergy drops like Pataday, frequent use of preservative free artificial tears, and possibly punctal plugs and restasis drops long term.
He did not find any foreign object, but said i was having an allergic reaction and put me on alrex. A day later i was back at Dr because my eye was on fire. He switched me to lotemax and said i might have been sensitive to alrex. Several days passed with no relief. I sought a second opinion, and was told they could not find any foreign object, but my eye was in distress and dry, so i was told to contunue lotemax, and use gel drops.
My pressures range naturally between 20 and 26. I was then asked to go back on the steriod eye drop Lotemax which I was very worried about as the steriod eye drop Maxidex had caused my pressures in less than a week to rise to 58! But they said I had to so I started Lotemax and Iopidine.
I took myself back to the hospital 3 days later as I felt increased pain and my pressures were rechecked at 30 and 36. I mentioned is this the steriod as 3 days ago they were 24 and 26!
My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
After 2 steroid drops, Sooth XP, Freshtears gel at night, and now finally Restasis and Lotemax, I see no improvment. I have been taking the Restasis for 5 months now. If it was going to work, would it have worked by now? I show no signs of improvment. After spending lots of money that is hard for me to come up with, I am at my wits end. Any other suggestions?
Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol.
The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample.

Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
You are healing slower than many people The surgeon may want you to continue PF at a reduced rate such as one every 3rd day or switch to a lower dose steroid that is safer for long term use such as Lotemax. Just to whiten you eye without treating the dryness or inflammation try Lumify. Its new over the counter and whitens without creating rebound redness like Visine does.
i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
1) Elestat drops to control eye allergy, and 2) Lotemax drops to try to calm down my changing vision. Neither have worked although the Elestat did appear to fix mucus buildup in my eye.
The ophthalmologist is talking now about doing surgery. He wants me to have cataract surgery, which I believe is just because he sees early stage signs and wants to take care of this while we are doing things to my eyes.
I went for eye checkup (optometrist) 5 days back and she found little cornea inflammation in my left eye and prescribed me lotemax drops for a week and now i have been using them for a week and its still there.I am also having ear ringing in my left ear for couple of days now.
I suffered from sore throat , cough ,fever and red eyes couple of weeks back.
Should I give this another week or consult eye specialist

While there discuss with him/her going on long term restasis and using a topical steroid such as lotemax for the first couple of weeks to reduce the stinging you likely will have. The use of restasis for long term eye for surface eye inflammation is a very promising new use.
Another very promiscing drug that might benefit you is Azasite which is an eyedrop that has emerged as the favorite for resistant and chronic blepharitis.

I got GPC on my left eye when I overused my contacts and I was on Lotemax for about 2 months, the bumps went away but I still have problems on my left eye. its usually redder than my right eye and my upper eyelid gets itchy and swollen randomly time to time, I tried Allaway but it didn't help, I also use a lot of Artificial tears and Gels so I'm sure its not from dryness.
It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Thank you Dr Hagan, Dr has me on lotemax drops twice a day and lotemax ointment at bedtime for 3.5 weeks. Recently he decrease to lotemax drop once a day & lotemax ointment at bedtime. How long is it safe to use steroids without causing problems. My eye pressure is below 20 for both eyes.
i am also suffering from nummular keratitis for almost 7 years and had been seeking from treatment from doctors since the last 2 years. they gave me steroids ( flarex and lotemax) and my eyes are becoming better now.
While looking for an answer to my problem, I saw that someone about 7 years ago posted that they had teary and itchy eyes for 2 months after their eye exam. Well, I am in the same situation, going on my second month. I am not allergic to any foods, pollen, etc. I was allergic to something in the 3 different drops that were given in my first eye exam ever. Anybody have any idea what the culprit is? My face was swollen and tingly, my eyelids were extremely swollen.
Well long term steroids is not good. Durezol is pretty strong. 5 months on steroids is a long long time. You could try weaker steroid like lotemax, you could discuss topical Restasis or Xiidra. You could try lipoflow treatment for your MGD, you could try MG probe and express. You could see a rheumatologist to see if you have any underlying auto-immune disease that might cause severe dry eyes and slow healing such as Sjorgren's Syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoid, etc.
After the infection was over ,There was no pain or redness in the eye but vision was little fuzzy as compare to my right eye, I went to Opthamologist and she put me on Lotemax drops for 7 days, I used drops and went back after a week and she said, inflammation is still there and she put me on Prednisone 40 mg TABLETS for 4 days with Lotemax eye drops every one hour.
I am really worried as there are lot of side effects of Prednisone, This is my second day on Prednisone and so far i am good.
