What is lotemax eye drops

Common Questions and Answers about What is lotemax eye drops

lotemax

Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar n tn then what else will work? the eye condition is deteriorating day by by day n im worried sick. WHICH DROPS SHOULD I USE?
184420 tn?1326739808 I went to my eye doctor and he put me on Lotemax and Restasis drops and they have helped immensely. He said he is going to keep me on the Restasis for the entire time I am on treatment. Personally I would see an eye doctor for this problem. An eye doctor can examine your eyes to be sure there is nothing else gouing on with them. The drugs can cause some eye problems so, in my opinion, it is best to get to the bottom of any symptoms .
Avatar n tn This is correct. It's why lotemax was developed and why its so expensive.
Avatar f tn As soon as I got off that month of lotemax, my eye is constantly discharging. Sometimes watery, usually thick, and can be clear or green/yellow. I even feel a pressure build up in my tear duct when I blow my nose or turn upside down. Mucous is actually even forced out sometimes when I blow my nose. The lotemax and cleanser don't help at all. I've been to my doctor multiple times now and these visits are expensive and I feel like I'm not getting anywhere.
Avatar f tn It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Avatar m tn My pressures range naturally between 20 and 26. I was then asked to go back on the steriod eye drop Lotemax which I was very worried about as the steriod eye drop Maxidex had caused my pressures in less than a week to rise to 58! But they said I had to so I started Lotemax and Iopidine. I took myself back to the hospital 3 days later as I felt increased pain and my pressures were rechecked at 30 and 36. I mentioned is this the steriod as 3 days ago they were 24 and 26!
Avatar n tn I was allergic to something in the 3 different drops that were given in my first eye exam ever. Anybody have any idea what the culprit is? My face was swollen and tingly, my eyelids were extremely swollen. That is better, but I am left with the other symptoms of tearing and itching. The Dr. prescribed steroid drops, Alrex, that have a bunch of other stuff in them, including a preservative. I am really paranoid about using them in case I should have another bad reaction.
Avatar n tn She says she had been told that this medication with a its low dose does not contribute to cataracts, however, she is not so sure now. What I am reading on potential side effects is suggesting that Lotemax may cause cataracts. I would suggest you stop using the drops now.
Avatar n tn Dr Hagan, I've been on xiidra for 2 weeks. I notice my left eye can be blurry for up to an hour. My right eye is fine. Should i continue on xiidra? I currently have 4 silicon plugs in my eyes.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics, Lotemax drops, Lotemax gel, Blink lubricating drops, Now; Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes.
Avatar n tn After the infection was over ,There was no pain or redness in the eye but vision was little fuzzy as compare to my right eye, I went to Opthamologist and she put me on Lotemax drops for 7 days, I used drops and went back after a week and she said, inflammation is still there and she put me on Prednisone 40 mg TABLETS for 4 days with Lotemax eye drops every one hour. I am really worried as there are lot of side effects of Prednisone, This is my second day on Prednisone and so far i am good.
Avatar n tn Might also want to rule out thyroid disease. Lotemax is probably not something you want to be on long term since it is a moderately strong steroid. I suggest looking in to taking a daily multivitamin, adding a good amount of fish oil and flaxseed oil supplent, avoid lots of wind, dust, sunlight, ceiling fans, and dry hot air. Look into allergy drops like Pataday, frequent use of preservative free artificial tears, and possibly punctal plugs and restasis drops long term.
Avatar f tn Weeks go by and still no relief, i still have pain(pinching/peircing sensation above eye, and general all over eye discomfort). I stop taking lotemax on suggestion of EMT neighbor. Eye calms down and now just have piercing/pinching pain only. I go see another Dr. He listens to story, looks at eye, puts me on Prednisone. Weeks pass, still pain. Call several times, finally get an appointment again. Looks at eye, prescribes cat scan.
Avatar n tn Lotemax is a steroid. You should get the instructions from the MD that prescribed them.
Avatar n tn s active ingredient) removed the Ketone group from prednisolone molecule and replaced it with an Ester carbon creating an Ester Corticosteroid also know as a site-specific corticosteroid. What this means in terms of efficacy is that Lotemax is more more lipophilic and has better corticosteroid receptor binding affinity than its ketone steroid counter parts. Additionally, once the drug enters the eye any unbound drug is instantly and predictably metabolized.
Avatar f tn I tried that for about a month, and the redness finally went away. When I increased the drops, I noticed that my eyesight in that eye became very blurry and it impacted my ability to drive. My doctor said this would go away once the drops stopped. During my last visit, they tested my eye pressure and it was high, so now I'm weaning myself off of the steroid drops (2 drops, 3 times a week, then 2 drops, 2 times a week, and so on.
Avatar n tn If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
Avatar m tn Generally the IOP is checked before placing someone on steroid eye drops. You should see your glaucoma MD. This doesn't mean you have glaucoma that needs to be treated, the least it could be is you are a steroid responder without glaucoma. Generally the IOP returns to normal within several weeks (2-4) of stopping steroids. I have seen very rare instances in which it remained elevated for 4-5 months.
Avatar m tn After a week of using the prescribed eye drops (Vigamox, Lotemax, Tobradex) it went away. The optometrist said the bacteria was gone and so I started wearing contacts after a day's rest. Within a day of getting off the medicated drops, there was a pink blur in my left eye. I continued using the medication thinking it was pink eye again. It worked for a week but now my eye is quite veiny. The doctor also had said that my eyes were very dry.
Avatar n tn after a few months of the transplant ,to fix the karatoconus in my eye, the doctor noticed that there is a cahnge in the eye presure (that it went up), what does it meants?? is it dengerous??
1958686 tn?1468782903 Well the most important thing is getting back in. Lotemax is a steroid so your improvement is surely due to the reduction in inflammation which assuredly was surgery related.
Avatar n tn ve read all the comments here and they all have the same common denominators as me...over use of eye drops. This is what infurates me the most, I have spent countless dollars seeing eye specialist one after the other and each telling me that I have the dry eye, try this, try that....I never went there for this, I went there for the red eye, brought all the OTC's that I was using, all the meds I was on and nothing was said about over use of OTC is WHAT IS CAUSING THE RED EYE!!!!!
Avatar f tn For seven months I have had redness on my left eye, right eye completely unaffected. I was initially diagnosed with an eye infection and blepharitis. Also on my inner lower eyelid of that eye, I have a stye. It's small, but it's yellow and has not drained. It has existed the entire time. Going back to the initial diagnosis of infection--that having been treated, the redness didn't go away. I have been given the gamut of eye drops to make the redness go away. 1.
Avatar m tn On 10/16/2017 I had a vitrectomy to repair my detached retina. I was given atropine drops before the surgery and that was the ONLY time I had them. After the surgery, I was given antibiotic drops a lotemax for the inflammation. I am now almost six weeks post op with about 30% of the bubble remaining in my eye and the eye IS STILL dilated. I do not know what is wrong and my doctor hasn't given me a clear answer at all.
Avatar m tn Something is not adding up. Map-dot-fingerprint dystrophy is the old descriptive term for what is now called anterior basement membrane disease (or sometimes epithelial basement membrane disease). It only interferes with vision if it is quite severe. The most common problem is a condition called recurrent corneal erosion, and you can read a ton about that at www.dryeyezone.com. RCE is extremely painful, you would know if you were having them.
