Lotemax and contact lenses

Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax and contact lenses

lotemax

184420 tn?1326739808 I went to my eye doctor and he put me on Lotemax and Restasis drops and they have helped immensely. He said he is going to keep me on the Restasis for the entire time I am on treatment. Personally I would see an eye doctor for this problem. An eye doctor can examine your eyes to be sure there is nothing else gouing on with them. The drugs can cause some eye problems so, in my opinion, it is best to get to the bottom of any symptoms .
Avatar n tn He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
Avatar m tn if someone wore your contact lenses whom had HIV and then after 1 week you wear the same contact lenses can you catch HIV
Avatar m tn What are the difference between ordinary lenses and hybrid contact lenses?
Avatar f tn If contact lenses were posted from a hot country would this affect the contact lenses. The temperature affected the seal on a box of solutions. Would it affect or damage the lenses?
Avatar f tn Thank you Dr for the reply.... And if eye drops are used... Can contact lenses be worn?
Avatar m tn eye dryness, solution incompatibility and toxicity, allergy, old lenses with protein buildup, etc. The exact problem will be determined by your doctor with a complete evaluation.
Avatar m tn My daughter (15) was fitted for lenses in May 2013 and was given Acuvue Oasys, and is fine with them. After wearing them for ONLY 1 day, I noticed the vision in my right eye was blurry.I thought I had gotten a "bum" contact. But after putting my glasses on late that night, I realized my eyesight was blurry even with my glasses. I was on vacation so I had blurry vision in my right eye for the 5 days we vacationed. I made an appt. to see my opthamologist the morning after we got back.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I have a question about my contact lenses. I'll try to be as thorough as possible. I've been wearing monthly soft contact lenses for 7 years to correct myopia (-4.25 left, -3.75 right, slight astigmatism in the left eye). I'm 26 and male. Occasionally I neglected proper care by not washing my hands or wearing them beyond a month but that was the exception. Ordinarily I didn't wear them beyond the prescribed periods, nor did I sleep with them in.
Avatar n tn "Lotemax is the only steroid that can be prescribed for long term therapy" This statement by PDophthalmology is incorrect. Any steroid drop can be prescribed for long term use. The question is should they be and if they are needed what is the best choice. First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important.
Avatar f tn I don't know if this is sort of the same, but anyhow,,I only wear my right contact lense now because with them both in, I can't read.....at first my doc was making the left one weaker so that I can read with my lenses in (I don't need reading glasses only need lenses for distance) and then I told her I just put one lense in and its so much better - I can see distance - and can read whenever I want real easy if I only wear one lense......she said its fine to do that.
Avatar f tn I tried OTC preservative free drops, lotemax, restasis, omega 3 fish oil, and am drinking a lot of water. My remedies are helping but this condition is awful and I'm not sure if I'm doing enough to reduce the symptoms. Is there anything else I can try to help my condition? I know that my pink eye had something to do with my tear production so I was hoping someone else had a similar experience and had a successful remedy to deal with this.
1958686 tn?1468782903 No that is not normal and I would suggest you try and contact your surgeon today and speak with him/her or whoever is on call and at least get in tomorrow for them to examine your eye as this is not typical and might indicate a complication.
974413 tn?1248029417 I try to only wear my contact lenses as little as possible, maybe 6-8 hours a day or if I know I'm not going out at all, I'll skip wearing my contact lenses for the day and I make sure they get cleaned daily regardless of wearing them or not. Recently I gave my eyes a "break" for a couple of days, after the second day, I wore my contact lenses as usual and by the end of the day my eyes were red and watery almost as if they were infected.
Avatar m tn If you are wearing rigid contact lenses, then yes, you can thoroughly clean and soak the lens and wear it. Instead of falling back on old contact lenses it would be better if you had a working pair of glasses for those times when your current contacts are "being serviced" (by which I assume you mean, being polished).
Avatar f tn Even though there might have been blood on the door knob and touched it and then put on my contact lenses, there is still no chance of infection if my friend would be infected. Again thank you.
Avatar n tn hi. i wear dailies contact lenses only on special occasions. today i tried them on and i realized that i couldn't see very well far away, like reading signs because it was blurry. i made sure that i took proper steps and handled them with care but my vision was still blurry far away. i took them off and tried on my glasses and could see perfectly normal again. why would i see better with glasses then contacts. i have focus dailies with aquacomfort plus.
Avatar n tn I recently went to the eye doctor and my prescription continues to get worse. Will it ever stop getting worse and stabilize? I wear contact lenses for astigmatism. Are there any brand of lenses which are better better for crisper vision and to possibly help to stabilize my prescription?
1614413 tn?1298486475 Just recently learned I need corrective lenses. I am very interested in wearing contact lenses, however the Rx the doc gave me made my vision worse than not wearing corrective lenses at all. Wearing my new glasses improves my eyesight, but I would much prefer the contacts. I had no issues whatsoever putting contacts in, taking them out, nor did they bother me in the least, when they were in (other than blurry vision). Is there anything I can do so that I can wear contacts? Different Brand? GP?
Avatar m tn So if your eyes are healthy (except for the nearsightedness and floaters) you can wear contact lenses despite your floaters. The doctor who saw you probably mentioned that you should come back immediately if you see a sudden, new batch of floaters that look like a shower of black dots, a 'swarm of bees' or a black 'curtain' in any part of your vision - or if you see any other sudden change in your vision.
Avatar n tn I am assuming that you are NOT sleeping in your contact lenses. Elestat and Alrex are mild anti-allergy eye drops but usually effective if the problem is actually allergies. If you continue not to respond to allergy treatment your ophthalmologist should begin to consider other conditions like dry eyes.
Avatar f tn He said it is possible that I am developing intolerance to contact lenses. I have had GPC twice in the past (though not anytime recently). Is it possible that I may be destined to stop wearing contact lenses for good? Can some people immune systems simply continue to react to any/all lenses?
Avatar f tn Contacts are very safe i would recommend getting them from a eye doctor to make sure your getting everthing coorect
Avatar f tn a contact lens (and glasses) wearer for years, i've just been diagnosed with presbyopia and have a new prescription for progressive lenses for my glasses. i've visited one optometrist who told me that because i have an astigmatism in one eye, i'll need custom lenses that could cost $2000 plus for a year's supply. apparently these custom lenses are changed quarterly so that figure is for 4 sets of lenses.
Avatar f tn I have pathological myopia. My corrected vision is 20/70 and 20/90. My lenses are -11 and -15. I have worn corrective contacts for over 40 years. What has happen now is that I am unable to wear lenses anymore because they have permently left a grove on my eyes. Now when I try to wear glasses my eyes burn so bad that I am in tears. My Doctor is considering implantable Contact Lense surgery from the Gimble Eye Centre in Canada does anyone have any thoughts.
Avatar n tn When you wear ill fitting contacts the cornea becomes numb as a protective mechanism. When you take them out over several hours the feeling returns and it causes pain and dilation of the eye blood vessels giving the bloodshot look. I have no idea about your replacement sources for contacts.
